Justin Baldoni's Lawyer Says ‘the Truth’ Will Expose ‘Those Who Believe Themselves Untouchable’

Justin Baldoni’s lawyer says that the actor’s impending lawsuit against Blake Lively will not only bring forth the “truth” — but also expose “those who believe themselves untouchable.”

"This is not a response or countersuit — it’s a deliberate pursuit of truth,” attorney Bryan Freedman exclusively tells PEOPLE of Baldoni's forthcoming lawsuit, which follows Lively’s explosive complaint accusing Baldoni, 40, of sexual harassment on the set of It Ends with Us and a subsequent retaliatory smear campaign.

Freedman, a veteran Hollywood lawyer, also says that Baldoni’s filing will “expose” falsities in Lively’s complaint — specifically a series of private text messages that allegedly show Baldoni texting and emailing with PR executive Jennifer Abel and crisis management expert Melissa Nathan as they planned what Lively, 37, alleges was a smear campaign orchestrated to "destroy" her reputation.

“This lawsuit will uncover and expose the false and destructive narrative that was intentionally engineered by a trusted media publication who relied upon nefarious sources and neglected a thorough fact checking process to confirm the validity of these texts,” Freedman tells PEOPLE.

“There is an insurmountable collection of authentic evidence, including timelines and communications, which have not been doctored or spliced without context, unlike the altered [New York Times] story that ran on Saturday, December 21st 2024,” he continues in the written statement.

The article Freedman is referring to — titled “ ‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine” — broke the news of Lively’s complaint the day after she filed it in California.

“In over three decades of legal practice, I’ve never witnessed such unethical behavior, fueled by those who abuse their power and manipulate the truth,” Freedman adds. “This isn’t an isolated case; it’s a recurring pattern in Hollywood and the mainstream media where careers and reputations are destroyed to maintain control.”

“Legacy media has long weaponized their platforms to distort the truth, exploit vulnerabilities, and destroy lives without accountability,” the attorney continues. “These lawsuits will confront this system head-on, ensuring that no individual or entity, no matter how influential, can continue perpetuating this cycle of fear and destruction."

"The truth will not only come to light — it will dismantle the illusions propped up by those who believe themselves untouchable,” Freedman concludes.

A representative for Lively did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Sunday, Dec. 29.

The attorney's latest statement comes shortly after the Daily Mail's Dec. 27 report that as soon as the courts reopen in the new year, Baldoni plans to file a countersuit against Lively. Freedman told the British outlet that the forthcoming filling will “shock everyone.”

The Daily Mail also reported that Baldoni’s impending filing will contain specific claims about Lively’s PR team, led by her publicist Leslie Sloane, including the allegation that Sloane planted stories to paint the actor-director in a bad light and led a smear campaign against him — not the other way around, as Lively’s complaint alleges.

Take Lively and Reynolds down!!!!

I agree that these fucking Hollywood "untouchables" need to be brought down.

Destroy them!!!

by Anonymousreply 3December 30, 2024 7:10 PM

oh great, another thread for all the misogynists

This is the guy who thought he could lecture other men about toxic masculinity. He obviously has a massive ego and zero credibility.

by Anonymousreply 4December 30, 2024 7:14 PM

I don't believe Blake's claims. She is the one being an absolute b*tch and she tried to take credit for the success of the movie when she wasn't the main creative force.

by Anonymousreply 5December 30, 2024 7:37 PM

Baldoni has too many different claims against him. Blake has no reason to make this up.

The very reason many hate Blake is Baldoni's side created a hate storm against on social media

by Anonymousreply 6December 30, 2024 7:47 PM

So he is going to take down the "untouchable" legacy media?

K.

by Anonymousreply 7December 30, 2024 7:56 PM

I wonder if their movie is benefitting from the publicity. I paid a visit to my 90-somthing year-old aunt in the home. It isn't something she'd normally want to see but story is all over the news so now the old girl is interested.

by Anonymousreply 8December 30, 2024 7:57 PM

I'm here for it.

Even if Baldoni loses, Lively and likely Reynolds are going to come out of this looking like pieces of crap.

She's always seemed like a raving bitch and difficult, but Reynolds always came across as a nice guy. I think his image is going to take a huge hit which he won't be able to hide behind "protecting his wife" any more than Will Smith could.

I'm betting Lively and Jada have a lot more in common than most people would believe.

by Anonymousreply 13December 30, 2024 8:09 PM

Surrrrrrrre

by Anonymousreply 14December 30, 2024 8:10 PM

He is GORGEOUS!! I would rim him deep....

by Anonymousreply 16December 30, 2024 10:15 PM

It’s very obvious to see a lot of these things in the Blake lawsuit were taken out of context and weaponized.

by Anonymousreply 17January 1, 2025 2:58 PM

One of her complaints is that he entered her dressing room while she was breastfeeding which made her uncomfortable.

Bakdiny has the text where she invites him To her dressing room (to talk about a scene) . She allegedly says “come by. I’m just breastfeeding.”

If that’s true, may her cunt begin to eat Blake from the inside.

by Anonymousreply 18January 1, 2025 3:49 PM

Indeed R18.

She really is a toxic cunt.

If it turns out she's lying about all the accusations, all her celebrity backers who trashed Baldoni should be SHOT.

by Anonymousreply 19January 1, 2025 4:54 PM

They both seem like assholes, but Lively's reputation for being difficult started long before this mess.

It’s a Chinese finger puzzle of a situation neither will be able to pull away from unscathed!

by Anonymousreply 21January 1, 2025 6:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 23January 1, 2025 7:47 PM

She took offense to a reporter congratulating on her pregnancy, I’m pretty sure there’s not much to expose on her being a cunt

by Anonymousreply 24January 1, 2025 9:58 PM

Justin's bombshell: "I'm gay!! So I couldn't have sexually harassed the cunt. I like cock!"

by Anonymousreply 25January 1, 2025 10:02 PM

If her costars hadn’t taken her side and remained mum—no comments at all— would social media have attacked them for remaining quiet about the feud?

by Anonymousreply 26January 1, 2025 10:08 PM

I'm not on anyone's side in this PR war, but suing the NYT for defamation may as well be a tacit admission that Baldoni has zero viable case. The Times was not only one of the parties to the case that has defined American defamation law for 60 years now (NYT v. Sullivan), which they won; it also hasn't lost a single defamation suit against them since.

Not sure if Baldoni's using some fly-by-night attorney, but no serious one would ever show their hand with such a ridiculous move like suing The Times. If he'd sued Lively directly (and solely), that'd be one thing, but if he was already fucked last week, he's far more fucked today. And not in the good way.

by Anonymousreply 27January 1, 2025 10:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 31January 2, 2025 6:41 AM

Well said, Jack!!

It's sick how Hollywood has becoming a bizarre place of "Villagers with Torches" towards men.

All a woman has to do his hurl a bunch of accusations at men, and they are instantly believed as the truth, and the man is cancelled and shunned, without even having had a fair chance at clearing is name.

In this case of Justin, all of the Woke Hollywood assholes have lined up behind PROVEN CUNT Blake Lively, as if everything she said in her complaint was the "holy gospel."

Justin hasn't even had a chance to defend himself or try to clear his name, but he has already been dropped by his agency representation.

HE SHOULD SUE THEM TOO.

It's just not fair how men are immediately judged, just based on accusations by women.

Like what was done to Armie Hammer, he can never get back his reputation, and his career is in the shitter.

But he was never found guilty of anything IN A COURT OF LAW. Never. It was all based on the accusations of women who were out to get him.

This is the exact same thing that Blake Lively is doing.

It has to stop, because it is ruining lives.

EVERYONE is innocent until PROVEN guilty.

by Anonymousreply 32January 2, 2025 7:48 AM

I would love to see Ms. Lively fall on her face - but I suspect most of the facts (and witnesses) are on her side.

by Anonymousreply 33January 2, 2025 7:58 AM

R33? from the other Justin thread:

[bold]Somehow my tiktok feed bombarded me with vids on the Justin's countersuit. Apparently, it's very damning toward Blake. All her claims -(porn addiction, pics of a producer's naked wife, no intimacy coordinator on set, Justin seeing her in a state of undress, etc. - are proven false with clear evidence and receipts in the form of texts, emails. etc.

The producer's naked wife is particularly damning. It wasn't that Justin was flippantly showing Blake unsolicited naked pics of coworkers spouses at all. It was actually a picture of a producer's wife giving birth in a birthing tub. That producer himself was also apparently present for all of this.

What they were actually doing was discussing whether they might use something similar RE the birthing tub for a scene in the movie. She completely changed the narrative to attack Justin over something totally harmless.

Even commentators/lawyers who were pro Blake going into reading the suit say it now looks really bad for her.

(Still, I can't believe I just wasted 20 minutes listening to those vids because I truly don't care about either of these two non starters!)[/bold]

The “mansplaining-ness” of a guy thinking he has to show a mother of four what a birthing tub is! Does he honestly think she never discussed them with her doctor?

Maybe next he can show her what stirrups used in a pelvic exam look like. And tampons.

R32, I'll just go ahead and assume you're either an idiotic incel who despises women because he can't get straight-dude cock, or – irony definitely noted – you only think she's a cunt because that's precisely what Justin's PR team WANTS you to think. (She's not a "proven cunt" here in the reality-based, non-woman-hating world.)

[quote]Somehow my tiktok feed bombarded me with vids on the Justin's countersuit.

If you saw it on TikTok, it MUST be true! 🙄 But, yet again, your misogynistic trolls are missing that this crisis PR firm's JOB is LITERALLY spreading false bullshit on TikTok exactly LIKE that video.

How many times do the REAL cunts in this situation – the two crisis PR frauen attacking other women for cash – have to con you for you to get it? You sound as insane as a Trumpist who actually BELIEVES he'll be instantly deporting 25 million immigrants "on day one," because "thats whut YouTube said wud hapn.")

Don't believe me? Just wait a few months until the suit is dismissed on summary judgment, meaning Baldoni has literally zero chance of prevailing on the merits, as determined by the judge. They know their shit a tad better than fucking TikTok.

by Anonymousreply 49January 6, 2025 5:03 AM

The funny part is that interviewer who Blake was nasty to explained that typically when actors come off bad, the publicists don’t give the interviewers the footage at the end. She was surprised the publicist gave her the footage and said she probably didn’t even recognize it because it’s the way Blake behaves.

by Anonymousreply 50January 6, 2025 5:08 AM

Both their careers will now basically be over. It's pretty much like Depp vs. Heard.

by Anonymousreply 51January 6, 2025 5:19 AM

it'd be funny if Ryan Reynolds actually caused all this with some kind of narcissistic triangulation tactic on Blake that went totally awry.

by Anonymousreply 52January 6, 2025 5:22 AM

What are you trying to say, R52.

by Anonymousreply 53January 6, 2025 12:58 PM

I'm not R52, but I'm assuming they meant that Ryan Reynolds pushed Lively to sue for sexual harassment, in hopes that Baldoni would be pressured into signing over rights to "This Ends With Us" and the sequel, in some kind of settlement.

But this whole thing has spectacularly backfired on both of them.

Justin isn't backing down, especially in light of his suit against the New York Times, as well as his impending countersuit against Blake Lively.

Whatever Lively and Reynolds had planned, it's clearly not working.

Ryan Reynolds thinks that he is the biggest power player in Hollywood, now that he has a lot of money.

He was wrong.

by Anonymousreply 54January 6, 2025 4:30 PM

I have never seen a Ryan Reynolds movie. I looked up his stuff and realized I thought he was Ryan Goslling.

I saw Blake Lively ONCE - in a remake of STRANGERS ON A TRAIN (?) It was the Anna Kendrick thing. Details are fuzzy…

by Anonymousreply 55January 6, 2025 4:40 PM

It Ends With Us producer Jamey Heath slammed Blake Lively’s demand she be given a producer credit on the film in an email leaked as part of their legal battle.

In Touch obtained the email dated June 27, 2024, filed as part of Jamey and the film’s director Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit against The New York Times.

Justin, 40, and Jamey sued the outlet over an article published about Blake's complaint against them. It claimed the reporters cherry-picked evidence to present a one-sided story.

In the email, that Jamey wrote to partners, “I’m writing to you all regarding a letter that I wrote on behalf of Justin and myself addressed to the Producers Guild.”

“As you know, we received a request to write a recommendation on behalf of Blake for her to receive the PGA mark. This was a request that we feel was unreasonable and cold hearted. Essentially, the movie [It Ends With Us] has been taken unjustly from Justin as a director and essentially from Wayfarer’s control due to the extortion of Blake,” he said.

Jamey continued, “Without going into all the details of the events that have transpired over the months, Justin and I ended up agreeing to write the letter due to feeling trapped. She continues to hold a threat over our heads and every time we try and hold a line she uses that threat either directly or indirectly to get us to fold.

Make no mistake, I am not suggesting that we were literally forced to acquiesce, but given the high profile of the movie, the partnership with Sony, the amount of money invested and the need to complete the movie, we have written the letter on her behalf, omitting the truth of how and why she was able to contribute in the ways we listed.”

He ended, “There is nothing to do with this letter now. It only serves as a way to memorialize why the letter was sent in the first place should we ever need to explain it.”

In the letter that Jamey wrote to the Producers Guild, he praised Blake’s work on the film and proposed she receive a producer credit.

Ryan Reynolds made his first public appearance on Tuesday night amid Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal battle. Reynolds attended the National Board of Review Awards, where he introduced Wicked, named the Best Film of 2024.

Reynolds's appearance — which included a telling comment about sexism — came as he made headlines over a deleted scene from Deadpool & Wolverine. Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman addressed the viral clip, in which Reynolds appears to be mocking Baldoni, the It Ends With Us director. Freedman also promised that, along with Lively and her publicist, "Ryan Reynolds for sure" will be named in their countersuit.
