Body found in wheel well of United Airlines flight from Chicago to Maui

A tragic discovery was made on a flight from Chicago to Maui on Christmas Eve.

A spokesperson for United Airlines confirmed to Fox News Digital that upon arrival at Kahului Airport in Maui on Tuesday, a body was found in the wheel well of one of the main landing gears on a United aircraft.

Flight 202 departed O’Hare Airport at 9:30 a.m. on Dec 24 and landed at Maui’s Kahului Airport at 2:12 p.m. local time, according to United Airlines' website.

The airline spokesperson said that the wheel well was only accessible from outside the aircraft.

"At this time, it is not clear how or when the person accessed the wheel well," the spokesperson said.

United said it's working with investigators to figure out how the person ended up in the wheel well.

The person that was found dead has not yet been identified.

I can top that, I spent Christmas eve on DL. My sense of adventure knows no limits.

I wonder if a person in a very warm parka and several bottles of oxygen could survive. That’s a hell of a flight. My guess is no.

by Anonymousreply 4December 26, 2024 2:16 AM

Actually I just googled and the temperature outside an airplane is -40 to -70F at 30,000 feet.

So, no.

by Anonymousreply 5December 26, 2024 2:20 AM

Based on R5, that person would have been a frozen block of ice by the time the plane landed.

Literally, a block of ice.

In cases like that, they have to be defrosted at the morgue.

by Anonymousreply 6December 26, 2024 2:36 AM

Some do miraculously survive but most die of hypothermia or are crushed or knocked out of the plane by the landing gear.

In 1970, a photographer accidentally photographed a 14-year-old boy falling out of the wheel-well of a plane as it took off.

Jesus god in heaven why’d you have to kill such hot snatch?

by Anonymousreply 9December 26, 2024 2:54 AM

Did they find out who it was?

by Anonymousreply 10December 27, 2024 2:08 AM

Wow, this story has my mom all-excited. Last March, her mother died while in Hawaii. Her body was lost by the airline on a flight from Maui to Chicago. Maybe the airlines neglected to search the wheel-wells when they were looking for grandma!

Hannah was trying to come home! If you assholes hadn't requested refunds from our Gofundme, we would have been able to buy her a ticket.

[QUOTE]Between 1947 and June 2015, a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) researcher had documented 113 such attempts on 101 flights.

It may be rare, but that's an awful lot of folks. All male and so many in their teens. The desperation. About a quarter of them survived, amazingly.

Poor guy was traumatized when a frozen body landed a yard from him while he was sunbathing . That's the dent it made in the preview. Blood on the garden walls.

R11 wtf?

by Anonymousreply 14December 27, 2024 7:44 AM

From R13:

[quote] The body had "all of his clothes on and everything" but on closer inspection there was "blood all over the walls of the garden", he said.

[quote] The body was "so intact" because it was "an ice block", the man added.

[quote] He continued: "His head was not in a good way. I realised immediately that he had fallen.

[quote] "So I went outside and it was just then the neighbour came out and he was very shaken. He had been sunbathing and he landed one metre away from him."

[quote] The man who was sunbathing has been named in reports as John Baldock.

[quote] His friend told the Sun: "There were a few of us in the house at the time and it was lucky only one of us was in the garden. Nobody would have survived being hit. The impact was horrific."

Poor John Baldock!

It happened again on Monday. This time two bodies were found. It's going to be a while before they determine where they got on. Plane had a busy schedule.

[QUOTE]Flight data showed the aircraft had a busy schedule, flying Sunday from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, to New York's JFK Airport. It then flew routes between Jamaica, New York, and Salt Lake City before ending in South Florida.

This thread brought out the ghoul in me and now I have to go throw up.

by Anonymousreply 20January 8, 2025 6:56 PM

So I guess that Kenyan fellow was in the wheel well, froze solid, and when the bay door opened, he tumbled out, in much the way a fridge dispenses ice.

r1 Im just curious how do you know when defacto is posting. I ask because I know he is a right wing lunatic, but I and I noticed others as well have been accused of being him whenever we don't tap dance, having a different point of view from the democratic mainstream on political threads, despite being liberals. I know certain posters, well I speculate, by their syntax and the stuff that interests them.

by Anonymousreply 22January 8, 2025 7:12 PM

The number of survivors is miniscule so why would anyone even attempt it?

by Anonymousreply 23January 8, 2025 7:13 PM

What kind of dipshit thinks this is a good idea, to give it a go, nowadays?

Dumb fucker.
