I'm not sure most Americans have the capacity to draw any parallels between the incoming administration and Wicked. Including the incoming administration.

R4, stop trying to make a crappy “cashed in” kids movie something profound. It’s shit. It was made to sell Chinese merchandise.

Star Wars: Episodes II and III were released during the George Dubya Bush administration, and there was some small attempt to make them into commentary on where the country was going politically. Such suggestions were met with derisive scorn from right-wingers. But none of this dialectic resulted in the kind of pushback where it might have been suggested that the films be banned. Still, this was well before right-wing trolldom became sufficiently organized online to be able to make a dent in the marketability of films they disliked.

"Wicked: Part Two" will have to do considerably more explicit heavy lifting to sufficiently antagonize the Trumpsters into trying to ban it. McKay will need to up his game.

We live in a country where books are being banned in red states with no rhyme or reason and you think there's no way a popular film that shows Fascism and scapegoating as bad things stands no chance of being banned by the Fascists and scapegoaters doing the book banning?

You should be more frightened than you are.

While thinly veiled, the politics of Wicked are beyond the vast majority of Americans to grasp.

Allegory, satire, symbolism, and metaphor are now beyond the capacity for most people.

If they do ban Wicked or Rocky Horror Picture show, it will be the end of "conservative" branded politics in the US for a long time. Let's hope it happens.

I liked it more than I expected, but I don’t believe the story is quite as profound or deep as some think it is.
