How did I miss this?
I found this as a young gayling in the early days of YouTube. I gave it a re-watch last month and it still made me laugh.
They recycle a lot of bits and go for too much pathos, but it should be seen by any CB or Mama fan.

The last scene pissed me off.
In a good way, though.

I’m just now realizing how many cues it took from Grey Gardens.

It’s really interesting how the first 2/3 of the film is a carol Burnett skit and then the last third becomes a Eugene O’Neill straight drama…Carol and Betty really rise to the occasion in their fight scene and Harvey Korman is actually touching as Ed.
I wish more shows would do that format. Roseanne did it well too because the actors could handle straight drama, when it was needed.

Vicki Lawrence was nominated for an Emmy for it.
She lost to Penny Fuller in The Elephant Man

was Eunice a made-for-tv movie?

When this originally aired, I was in high school and it was airing on Monday night, which was the night we had show choir (Glee) practice.
My show choir partner and I really wanted to see Eunice so we manufactured some drama during rehearsal and stormed out and went to her house so we could watch the show.
It was the right decision. It was a good show.

Ironically, it was this special that led to Mama’s Family. A bit of retconning then occurred, since Mama died.
