You're a complete fucking idiot.

by Anonymousreply 1December 24, 2024 4:27 PM

lol yeah she does OP.

She went to that private French school in LA. She’s even hosted the Cesar’s. (French awards show)

by Anonymousreply 2December 24, 2024 10:15 PM

No. Jodi Foster doesn't. But, Jodie Foster does.

by Anonymousreply 3December 24, 2024 10:34 PM

I was a young gay once who didn’t know all this stuff. I see no need to make him feel like an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 4December 24, 2024 10:48 PM

But he is is one. That’s the way it is.

by Anonymousreply 5December 24, 2024 10:57 PM

I don't know why other lesbians find her attractive. She has a nose that could cut glass.

But she was cute when she was a freckle-faced kid.

by Anonymousreply 6December 24, 2024 11:00 PM

She didn’t want to go to Westlake or Marlborough.

5 nominations, 2 wins (nice total)

by Anonymousreply 8December 25, 2024 4:41 AM

I don't care. As long as she can speak English, I'm good with that.

by Anonymousreply 9December 25, 2024 5:34 AM

She’s about to do a French movie all in French.

by Anonymousreply 10December 25, 2024 5:37 AM

She is beautiful, always had been Loved her in Contact.

by Anonymousreply 11December 25, 2024 5:47 AM

Anyone have her home address?

by Anonymousreply 12December 25, 2024 8:13 AM

R10 wins. Thread closed.

by Anonymousreply 13December 25, 2024 1:17 PM

My sister went to school with her — Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles. I studied in Bordeaux France for a year whilst junior at UCLA.

Loved it. Never forgot my French and never will.

by Anonymousreply 14December 25, 2024 3:36 PM

What was the point of this interview? To show off her French?

by Anonymousreply 15December 25, 2024 5:26 PM

I don’t care. I just love French . Sheesh!!! No room for light hearted joy anymore

by Anonymousreply 16December 25, 2024 6:13 PM

R16. No room for excess space in front of a period either.

by Anonymousreply 17December 25, 2024 10:33 PM

What the igorant OP does not fathom is that people who speak a language fluently never forget it. Foster speaks flawless French.

by Anonymousreply 18December 25, 2024 10:36 PM

She's very photogenic. The French guy interviewing her is un beau mec.

by Anonymousreply 19December 25, 2024 10:43 PM

His hair!

by Anonymousreply 20December 25, 2024 10:47 PM

R14, what did she remember about Jodie? Jodie is apparently on the nicest celebs around.

by Anonymousreply 21December 26, 2024 12:00 AM

Jody Watley, however, speaks Spanish

by Anonymousreply 22December 26, 2024 12:24 AM

Who is this? Some old movie star from the past? Is she sick?

by Anonymousreply 23December 26, 2024 1:04 AM

R21: She remembered her being down to earth, just like any other student there. They didn’t really know or pay attention to her. Jodi was pleasant. Her French was good .

by Anonymousreply 24December 26, 2024 1:04 AM

She is beautiful there.

I was impressed with her French. But she did get an early start with it (childhood).

I learned 3 different languages in HS and college. I've forgotten most of it.

She was also really nice-looking here, talking about Taxi Driver. Looks like she's got smoker's lines around her top lip.

Thanks r24, I love that interview. Jody comes across as so stable, smart and confident. And her smirks and smiles when she tells her stores is so infectious. She really is photogenic.

[quote]What the igorant OP does not fathom is that people who speak a language fluently never forget it.

That's not true. If you never use it you become less fluent, and of course lose all the slang that is a big part of speaking a current language, because the slang itself goes out of style. The language itself should come back to you pretty well if you're immersed in it after a long period of disuse, because the words and rules sit somewhere in the back of the brain, but you definitely won't be able to just rush into fluency after a decade or two of disuse.

If, however, you have the money to visit France on the regular, as Foster does, and you have a professional reason for speaking it, as Foster does, it shouldn't be much trouble to stay fluent.

by Anonymousreply 27December 26, 2024 6:00 AM

No, Rose, she switched to German.

by Anonymousreply 28December 26, 2024 6:16 AM

R27 all you did was elaborate my point that obviously a fluent speaker never loses the language. Being rusty is not "losing the language".

by Anonymousreply 29December 26, 2024 8:48 AM

She’s always been a cunning linguist.

by Anonymousreply 30December 26, 2024 9:27 AM

R14

Why didn’t you go to le lycee? (Kind of a personal question but I’m just curious)

by Anonymousreply 31December 26, 2024 9:30 AM

R14

While at Ucla, didn’t they teach you standard American grammar?

by Anonymousreply 32December 26, 2024 10:01 AM

She has gay voice. All the gay women i know sound like this.

by Anonymousreply 33December 26, 2024 10:04 AM

R33 Wow. Such profound insight. You should have a podcast.

by Anonymousreply 34December 26, 2024 10:23 AM

R34 should have a cuntcast.

by Anonymousreply 35December 26, 2024 11:39 AM

R29, if being able to speak it poorly and haltingly is "never to have forgotten it", then you're right. It doesn't mean anything in practice, but whatever floats your boat.

If needing the subtitles to understand a movie in the language, but being able to go, "That's not what he just said" from time to time is "still being able to speak it", then sure. Because that's where I am, thirty years after once being very fluent, but never having had the chance to practice it since.

by Anonymousreply 36December 26, 2024 12:32 PM

Here's a French teacher critiquing Hollywood celebs speaking French.

From Bradley Cooper, to Timmy Chalamet, to Penelope Cruz.

I can't really understand what she's saying, but you can get the gist of it just by reading her "corrections" that she posts on the screen.

Viggo Mortensen seems to be pretty good at speaking French, as well.
