I just made a glazed pork tenderloin with applesauce. I am dying to eat it all tonight, but I'll be good. I might also do some chicken wings I have in the freezer...maybe honey garlic?
Happy Holidays, everyone!

I'm supposed to be cooking right now, but I'm feeling so lazy!
I'm just sitting on the couch watching tv.

Lucky you R1

I'm not in charge of dinner this year. I'll just be doing pies and rolls. In the meantime, I've made banana bread, fruit bread, fudge, peanut brittle, sugar cookies, and an angel food cake. No shortage of sweets for the big family gathering on Wednesday!
Whatever you're making, I hope it is thoroughly enjoyed! Merry/Happy Whatever You Celebrate!

I have so much to do.
Bake the ham, bake the turkey, roast the prime rib, cook and saute the green beans, bake the potatoes, make the cold cut platter, make the veggie platter, make my jello dessert.
It's overwhelming.

I ain't doing nothing. I was so crazy busy at work I missed the deadline to order from Whole Foods. So I guess it's the frozen pigs in a blanket for me.

R5 yikes...and you just decided to start today?

I burned some homemade vegan sugar cookies I was trying to make. I got distracted. Christmas is ruined. :(

Just me and my husband, so I’m making the Bachelor’s Banquet: Butterball Turkey Breast, Stove Top Stuffing, Bob Evans Whipped Sweet Potatoes, Green Giant Peas in Butter Sauce, Pillsbury Biscuits, Strawberry Sugar Free Jello, and “fancy” cookies from Wegman’s. Husband has Alzheimer’s and I had bariatric surgery 17 years ago, so no point in going to one of those hotel buffets. The cats will get plenty of leftovers.

R11 No real recipe, I just mixed some honey, orange juice, soy sauce and ketchup and brushed the tenderloin (after browning it in a pan on all sides) with it then put it in the oven for about 25 minutes. I brushed it a couple of times after too. Then I made the applesauce by putting the apples in a pan with honey, water and a bit of the same liquid I used on the pork. And a bit of red wine since I had it around. Once the apples were done I added nutmeg and butter. No measurements, I just sort of winged it. It looks and smells amazing

Anise cake. Fairly easy to make. I like making fresh lemon zest.

I’m making a simple pumpkin pie but I’m searching for the recipe for the slightly ’’caramelized’’ type crust they use in cheesecake's. Kind of a cookie-type with brown sugar but I’m not good at guessing ratios?

Tri tip for Christmas with scalloped potatoes and some veg and/or salad. Then a strawberry/rhubard pie and Thrifty vanilla ice cream.

I absolutely adore you R13.

This pork roast thing must be catching. My concern is how to tell if a 4 1/2 pound roast is done without a thermometer?

Ditto R24 to R13-sweet.

R25 I just sliced it halfway and look inside in the thickest part to see if it was done. I'm going to slice it anway so I'm not ruining the look or anyway.

I finished roasting my ham and turkey, and they came out really good.
I basted my turkey in butter, salt, pepper, oregano and thyme, and it is absolutely delicious.
And the ham is smoky and sweet. I just had to sample both.
I'm attempting for the first time to make Jambalaya as a rice dish for Christmas, and I am taking a shortcut. I put all the meats, liquids, vegetables and seasonings in a crock pot (slow cooker, not Instapot). Dumped it all in and set it to high. Crossing fingers that it turns out well.
All that's left for tomorrow is baking my potatoes, making stuffing, putting together four dozen deviled eggs, assembling a charcuterie board, slicing the carrots, celery and broccoli for a vegetable tray with spinach dip, and warming up the dinner rolls and gravy.
Thankfully, I don't have to do the jello dessert because I have a couple of volunteers to bring dessert.
I feel like I got a lot accomplished today.

I am officially poor this year. I have a can of ravioli that has managed to make it to the 24th and I’ve got some mozzarella to melt over it. I’m feeling so ashamed, but I’ll put on my happy face if anyone stops by. That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown. Ugh.

Glazed ham, with all of the sides. Plus shrimp and crab dip, spinach dip and a few pies. I've got to start the housework in a few minutes, too. So much to do today.
