I am so cheap, but hungry
I have alot of food cooked and in freezer for the holidays.
However its only 12/23 and I want cheese and crackers.
I have had a block of cheddar cheese in my freezer for a long time from Vermont Country Store.
It was in the fridge for 9 months after its "Sell by date" of 7/2022... I then stuck it in the freezer.
There is no mold or anything-- Its in its original wrapping
How the heck did the cheese last this long with no mold, ect
And will I get Listeria?

Just throw it away. Then go to a local store and buy a small block of cheese and fresh crackers
Stop being cheap fuck and a hoarder

I don't know about listeria, but don't count on the block to hold it's shape if you try to cut into it. It will crumble into pebbles and crumbs. Remember the government cheese giveaways in the mid/late 80s? I worked at a place that got the large frozen bricks of cheese. It was very difficult to use for snacks. It was just for cooking.

If it’s Vermont Country Store that cheese was already outdated when they sent it to you. They have the Oldest food products ever. And those get sent out first.

Move to California. As of January 1, Sell by and Use by dates will no longer exist.

My mother (who worked at the Hershey Chocolate Factory) said the exact same thing about seasonal chocolate. If you just bought Kisses in red and green wrappers, they were made [bold]last[/bold] Xmas. Same with Easter.
Enjoy!

If it’s Vermont Country Store that cheese is probably a non-organic cheese-like substance.

Vermont Country Store cheese is made during the night shift in the glue vats at US Adhesives Co, Chicago.

Vermont Country Store sucks frankly. Ridiculously overpriced and all edibles seem old and stale.

If you decide to thaw the cheese, agree to eat it within 2 hours.
No liquids or bathroom breaks.
No crying.
