An Ida Lupino classic from 1946 is on TCM right now. I love this movie. I wish my name was Petey!

I watched this today, too.
It was all over the place - but everybody did a good job. And it really looked like Bruce Bennett was playing the piano.
Andrea King was very good and Dolores Moran as the slutty neighbor and mother of infant twin boys was a lot of fun.
Robert Alda is still homely, though.

I thought Alda was striking good looking. I’m like HE was Alan Alda’s father? No way!

Petey Brown: Hello, Buddy. But you didn't have that black eye the last time I saw you.
Buddy Otis: And you didn't have that color hair the last time I saw you.

there's actually two hair dye jokes at Petey's expense.

Petey Brown: Always walk in without knocking? You nearly scared me out of my new hair dye.

This movie has one of the best bitch slap scenes by Ida.

I just love Ida Lupino.
Fun fact: Ida Lupino is Gloria Gibson from a season 1 episode of Charlie’s Angels.

I liked her Twilight Zone episode as a old movie actress who ends up walking into the screen becoming a ghost in one of her old movies.
