Man has a meltdown in airport after missing his flight
This happened in August, but holiday travels have just reminded me of this hilarity.
----
Another day, another missed flight meltdown from Miami International Airport, where a man threw a temper tantrum after showing up too late for his flight to Madrid. “I’m Kind. I’m A Teacher. I’m A Beautiful Person” – Missed Flight Leads To Hilarious Meltdown At Miami
From the video below, it appears the man just missed his Air Europa flight from Miami (MIA) to Madrid (MAD). Flights close 15 minutes prior to departure, meaning you need to be onboard before that cut-off point or risk losing your seat. It appears, based on the empty gate area, that the man showed up too late and his flight was already closed (you can hear the passenger manifest printing on a dot matrix printer…).
It’s a rather comical exchange, but what gets me most is that the passenger cries like my four-year-old daughter does. I call it the fake cry…you can listen to him wail after being informed he was too late for his flight and then instantly snap out of it. There are no tears…I just laugh when my daughter cries like, but she’s only four…
And you’ve got to love Tesha. This poor guy seems to have thought that by raising his voice and getting the name of the gate agents, he’d be able to get on the flight. He also threatens to call 911…

I hate it when men throw tantrums. Hate it. It's horrible when the ladies do it, I know. But I just feel like we ought to have more self control.
This guy is revolting.

Honestly, I understand the absolute helplessness and frustration he must have felt missing such a flight. Of course, life goes on and you just take the next one--but in the moment, his actions aren't particularly unusual.
That said I DETEST when airlines write in itty-bitty lettering that you have to be at the gate 15 minutes before departure. If it's so important, make the lettering BIG

I feel kind of bad for him. What happens if you miss a flight? Can you get on the next one? It would probably take forever. I've never been on a plane and I hope I never have to. It seems like a lot of bullshit.

I don’t understand why they don’t let people get on the flight if it hasn’t left the gate. Just nasty power-tripping as far as I’m concerned.

I always arrive at the airport at least an hour prior to the scheduled flight. I'll read or surf the internet in the time I am at the gate.
He should have planned to arrive a lot earlier. Who would expect to be allowed on the flight while everyone else is preparing for take off?
We are all not at the center of the Universe. Too many people think they are.

There is absolutely no excuse for this from any adult. And the mind boggles at people like r10 who find his behavior reasonable. Sometime around puberty every person should understand that we run in the worlds time and not the other way around

Power tripping has nothing to do with it.
Before the cabin door is secured, the gate agent must get an accurate count of the passengers and physically hand that to the pilot before returning back to the terminal. Last minute calculations on weight distribution and fuel need to be done before the plane is ready to go. If they have to stop and reopen check-in to let a late arrival on that could cause an unnecessary delay that might cause some passengers on the plane to miss their connecting flights.

Just yesterday I saw a video from an entitled father ("but we have CHILDREN!") flipping out at a gate agent because there were people still getting on the plane but he hadn't checked in before the flight closed. And of course he was pulling the "child card."

Hardly. But I was on a plane on average 6 times a month for over 30 years. And I was never late for a single check-in in all those years.

Let me guess. You're a dumbfuck who is late for everything because you are constantly making stupid plans and then getting caught up in stupid nonsense instead of actually getting your ass where it needs to be.

Actually, I’ve never missed a flight. I don’t like feeling rushed or anxious so I leave plenty of time. My reaction to the airline staff is based on my life-long experience with petty people given a modicum of power.

R20, no I've never been on a plane. I hope I never have to either. People just seem crazy. Especially when they infringe on someone behind them or next to them. I do admit it does seem kind of exciting.

he sounds a bit drunk doesn't he? That's why he's going off - he's intoxicated and knows he fucked up staying too long at the bar instead of being at the gate.
