What are they and how do they work?
I'm guessing it's a cross between a candle and reed diffuser but just wondering how they're used or if it's worth the expense.

a/k/a "tarts," wax melts are cubes of scented wax which melt when heated, releasing fragrance through the air.
They can be burned in either an electric or a candle-heated holder. For the latter, place an unscented tea light candle in the base of the holder. The wax melt should be placed in the recessed bowl area directly above. Light the tea light candle and, as it heats the bowl, the tart will melt.
The tart provides the fragrance of choice, while the burning candle lends a gentle glow of light to the room. After the candle extinguishes, the molten tart will harden and can be reheated.
Enjoy.

The Yankee Candle wax melts are a much worse value than the regular candles.

I've been using Soy Dots from Amazon for years. My favorite scents are lilac & lily, vanilla and bed of roses. They're pricey but high quality.

I used to buy tarts at Bed, Bath & Beyond, and now discount and variety stores carry them. Some off-brands come in a snap-apart block of 16 for as little as $2.99 at TJMaxx, etc.

I'm ready to go tart shopping.

I'll never have those again. Spill one on the carpet or on your clothes and you too will send it straight to the landfill where it belongs.

R9 - Rub ice over the spill or put garment in the freezer and the wax should just peel/crack off.

"I put my living room carpet in the freezer and now my Salt And Straw eggnog ice cream tastes like my Frenchie's butt!"

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
