How cute is this?

'We've got his back': Some upperclassmen befriend freshman who had no one to sit with during lunch.

The opposite of despicable bullying. Beautiful.

Because they can be.

Chill, guys. I think this is a nice story. It’s good to see kindness in this day and age. I was just making a bitchy remark.

Don’t worry R9, as an DL old-timer I thought the same thing when I watched the clip, not seriously of course but the joke was obviously going to be made.

I think this is really sweet and similar to my experience in high school in the South not terribly far away from Reidsville. As an obviously (well at least to everyone but myself) baby gay, I was ostracized, if not targeted, by the white, upperclassmen. Thankfully a group of black girls adopted me as their mascot and were fiercely protective. Anyone who dared even look at me sideways risked invoking the wrath of Linda Bullock, a girl widely known for her hair-trigger temper and right hook. While I probably would have made it through on my own, I emerged from high school with many fewer bumps and bruises than I would have gotten without their friendship and protection.

R10

Are you still friends with Linda?

by Anonymousreply 11December 24, 2024 7:16 AM

Yes, we have been married now for the last 15 years.
