Now I'll know how to behave should I ever encounter Marjorie Taylor Greene.

You should just said sharply, "Buzz off, Bullkwinkles!"

How can you not want to just reach out and pet her, when she starts sniffing his bike?
The moose is just too adorable!
They seem just as curious about us, as we are about them.

Or perhaps she would just prefer a nice set of wheels.

I wondered if the colors of his clothing would trigger an aggressive response. I’m glad they didn’t jump to the road to avoid the bicyclist, and get hit by a car.
I don’t know how I would have behaved if I encountered these animals. I tensed up when they sniffed in his direction, wondering if chemicals in his perspiration like prostaglandins might also trigger an aggressive response. I always considered moose to be dangerous.

I have read that moose have poor eyesight during the day. They are primarily nocturnal creatures so they have different amounts of cones and rods than humans. One site said that they have the equivalent of 20/100 sight during the day. They do rely much more heavily on their hearing and sense of smell. I don't think they are generally violent, except possibly during mating season, but their enormous size makes them dangerous, because if they get spooked they could easily flatten someone. I think the guy did the right thing by remaining still, acting unthreatening, making no surprising gestures, and moved off the path into the road, eventually. (I think I would have done that first!) I occasionally get moose in my neighborhood. I retreat indoors. They are bigger than horses!

I'm scared of moose antlers, R14.
They look terrifying and lethal to humans.
But the moose in this video seemed pretty docile.
I'm guessing they were both females? (No Antlers)

Do not reach out and pet them
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 24, 2024 3:42 PM |
They're so cute, though.
And they only eat vegetation.
How do they get so big, only eating greens???
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 24, 2024 3:45 PM |
