My new 'Gen Z' hires want gender reassignment surgery . WTF?

In 2024 I hired 9 new Gen Z employees and 2 have already quit, plus 1 disappeared with no word, which leaves 6. 4 of them just announced they will have gender assignement surgery in 2025 and expect 3 months paid leave, each. My small company offers 6 weeks paid leave + 6 weeks unpaid leave for gender reassignement surgery.

All four have already transitioned socially. 2 MTFs and 2 FTMs. The FTMs have asked for pay raises. One of the MTFs said she will have a baby after her transition and so will go on maternity leave after her sick leave.

So far they are mostly good workers and Ivy graduates whom we hired on the low end of the salary range. We don't want to lose them!

By the way, UnitedHealth Group is our insurance provider and I'm afraid our rates are about to skyrocket. They are all on PrEP, of course, and in psychiatric therapy.

That's what I don't get. Why didn't they go to University Health Services on their luxurious full-service campuses? I've heard transitions are free, fast, safe and fabulous. Why wait til their first year of employment?
