The Voice of Disco is DEAD to Me

My ‘70s teenage heart is broken over this. Chic represents the music of my generation and the soundtrack of my gay awakening.

So sad!!! Le Freak was a revelation when I heard it for the first time at my next door neighbor’s house. C’est Chic was the first album I bought with my own money. I wore that album out.

I remember their hit nagging me not to be a drag, “participate. Clams on the half shell and roller skates. Roller skates!” That was a tall order for an introverted nerd from Ohio.

OP- In my upper middle class town in the late 1970’s disco 🕺 was considered tacky and low class.

I really loved Disco. She sounds like quite an accomplished lady. R.I.P.🎄🙏

I loved " Everybody Dance" and " Le Freak"! Another generational partner added to the " Big Disco in the Sky". All the divas are in their late 70s and 80s now.

Diana, Cher, Thelma, Gloria, and Carol are all still touring . I've allocated entertainment funds in 2025 to see them one final time in concert.

What a lovely quote by her:

[Quote] “Disco was always a place where people could get away from society’s restrictions,” she said. “The world puts you in a box, but when you’re on the floor dancing, and you grab somebody’s hand, it doesn’t matter whose hand it is. That’s what disco gave to the world.”

I'm gonna get down tonight.

Christmas Eve always is so much fun on the disco floor!
