Every year I get their charming catalogs.Last year I finally ordered a few items in spite of numerous negative reviews. Never again. There products look lovely- nicely packaged pretty pastries and cakes so perfect but it’s just SWEET covered in hard/thick sweet icing-YUCK!

Italian Swiss Colony was much, much better.

I'm not familiar with their products, but they do look nice indeed

There offerings are sometimes years old. They set up a kiosk at the mall during the holidays and stock it with ancient foods from some warehouse. Stale, dried up, and expensive.

R2 thinks mayo on white bread (no crust) is quite nice.

Did the Swiss actually have any colonies? I’m trying to remember how many ships the Swiss navy has.

How fresh do you think mail-ordered cheese and meat that isn't refrigerated will be?
I ordered from them once. Never again.
Even if their food were decent the portions of some of the items are comically small.

I'm sure it's like many things that it used to be better decades ago and is now just riding on its name.

Who will ever forget Swiss Colonies Petits Fours???? They’re ho-hos without happiness….

This thread really brings back memories.
I’ve never had anything from the catalog, or thought of the catalog in years, but I remember poring over it this time of the year as a kid.

My dad used to bring home (from his job) Swiss Colony stuff, during Christmas-time.
It was good. Cheese ball with nuts embedded on the outside. Some type of sausage (summer sausage?), crackers, candy.
The petit fours were a separate thing (not included in the Christmas box that we had). I remember liking those, as a kid. A tiny little layered cake with icing.

I love cheese! Make love to me in a Swiss Colony!

I used to work for them, or at least a contract packager of theirs.....what a trip - this was 40 years ago. I was on an assembly line and I had to put little figurines into the boxes of cheese and sausage. The supervisor was a fucking cunt natzi and you had to raise you hand if you had to go to the bathroom and she had to take your place. She would sneer and comment and never believe that you actually had to go to the bathroom. We were paid in piece work (what it used to be called) which is now illegal in the USA - that is the more we did, the more we got paid....of course it was peanuts....no sick time, no benefits, miserable working conditions....and a fucking cunt boss. I quit and told her to go fuck herself. Because of that, I can never buy Swiss Colony (or Suisse Colony) -

That brand's so old, It's got to be private equity-owned synthetic food at this point.

I feel terrible. For years I would send my Dad and my Stepmom Swiss Colony alcoholic bonbons. They were banned in Ohio or I would have tried them myself first. They never complained in all those years. Then one day I read that alcoholic bonbons topped the list of least desired Christmas gifts. I was devastated. This was after my Dad had passed. I endeavored to be a better gift giver. Father forgive me.

What exactly IS ‘processed cheese food’ ? Many of their items contain this disclaimer.

Ford processed as cheese. Pretty straightforward ✊🏼

I liked those. I don't drink, anymore. But back when I did drink, I enjoyed those. (Chocolates with alcohol on the inside.)
