Teen angst in song form throughout the decades.
It was recently going through random playlists on YouTube from primarily the rock, punk, and metal genres. From about the 60s on up to the 00s there's a healthy chunk of songs that particularly angry teens of that era likely gravitated towards. My best music memories are from the 2000s when bands like Linkin Park, Papa Roach, and P.O.D really 'spoke to my angsty teen soul.'
What songs really spoke to your 'inner-anguish' during your youth?
P.S: It's sad how the lyrics in this record are still relevant today.

From the 1940s. As OP said, the lyrics are as relevant today as ever. Those feelings of youthful rebellion and anxiety transcend generations and geographies.

I was mid-20s but “Here’s Where the Story Ends” by The Sundays really resonated when I was untethered. (My teens were spent with Duran and U2, so not a lot of teen angst there.)

What's That Sound by Buffalo Springfield probably really resonated with the youth of that time period because of the Vietnam War. Especially the young boy finishing high school or just starting college who were anxious about being drafted.

What a minute, the title of that song is For What It's Worth. Why the hell do they have it titled that way? Through me off. I knew something didn't look right with that video.
