I need hope, in this allegedly hopeful season. Anybody love some good hopeful songs, and care to share? Will things get easier? Can we at least hope they will?
Please let it be so, despite all evidence to the contrary.

I am weirdly not really into the Beatles but I have a soft spot for this song
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 21, 2024 1:37 AM |
Idk if it's hopeful per se, but it's definitely about feeling free and at one with the earth after, well, not feeling that way

Love that song. Definitely makes me feel hopeful r5.

Cheesy and overplayed but damn if it doesn't work to make me feel better

This Will Be Our Year by the Zombies in 1969. It had a renaissance on Mad Men and Schitt’s Creek. Charming and hopeful.

Overheard a father singing this to his crying child at a supermarket. He had a surprisingly good voice and it was night and we were some of the only people there. A lovely memory.

I’m R19 and was referring to the OP’s song — oh, oh, child, things are gonna get easier 🎶

So low down and sad it almost defeats its purpose but still, hopeful in it's intentions I guess

R23 Apparently that song helped Elton John get sober, so it seems it was hopefull after all.

I knew that song at R26 had something to do with Bacharach/David like that godawful Girl Talk. Mack David must have been a mysogynist.

I always equated Jack Hawkins with Stairway to Paradise. From The Band Wagon movie.

Jack Buchanan (not Hawkins) was in "The Band Wagon," but I don't think that song was.

why don't you guys put the fucking title of the song in your post. We're hardly getting preview, anymore, on DL. Would be nice to see the title of the song without having to click a link every time.

This one doesn't fit exactly since it's reflecting on the end of a relationship but it has one of my favorite go-to lyrics when I need to be inspired:
[quote]It's so strange when you're down and lying on the floor
[quote]How you rise, shake your head, get up and ask for more
[quote]Clear-headed and open-eyed with nothing left untried
[quote]Standing calmly at the crossroads, no desire to run
[quote]There's no hurry anymore when all is said and done

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily
Life is but a dream
