This Is The Movie I'm Proudest Of In My Career - Timothée Chalamet On "A Complete Unknown"

Timmy looks great!

And he got a standing ovation.

Next step: OSCAR.

He will never win an Oscar. The lies the fans tell themselves in order to feel better.

by Anonymousreply 1December 19, 2024 2:58 PM

He'll get nominated for this film.

by Anonymousreply 2December 19, 2024 3:01 PM

He looks terrible. Like a rat faced tard with a flat, saggy ass.

by Anonymousreply 3December 19, 2024 3:04 PM

Poor, jealous R3.

Timmy looks amazing, beautiful and gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 4December 19, 2024 5:52 PM

R2: I’m calling it - he will get snubbed on Oscar morning.

by Anonymousreply 5December 19, 2024 6:05 PM

I would love to see either Daniel Craig or Timmy win the Best Actor Oscar in 2025.

I think that Timmy is peaking at just the right time, and he knows how to work the media.

Daniel Craig needs to step up his campaign, if he wants to compete for the award.

He needs to go full "Jamie Lee Curtis" on Timmy.

R8: Brody is winning. But if you need to say that to feel better about yourself sure go ahead.

by Anonymousreply 9December 20, 2024 1:18 AM

Next step, Oscar nomination, easily.

by Anonymousreply 10December 20, 2024 1:20 AM

[quote] Brody is winning

Who?

No one even knows who he is any more.

Timmy is ON FIRE!

Dear me.

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

R12: The trades are trying to spin it as a success but it hasn't even matched its budget yet. I think it's safe to say its complete shutout at the Globes killed any possible resurgence at the box office.

by Anonymousreply 13January 6, 2025 9:35 PM

I hope it picks up in online video rentals and sales. I hate going to movie theatres in general, and I really hate going to movie theatres in such freezing, shitty weather.

by Anonymousreply 14January 6, 2025 9:47 PM

I think Adrien is the favorite. But I wouldn’t pass Timothy wining for one reason. The Oscars know they are losing cultural currency. Less viewers each year, every years, movie theaters dying, so many award shows etc. a Timothy win would shake things up and appeal to popular tastes. However many of the members will likely not think of it like that. And we all know the Oscars are ageist when it comes to men.

by Anonymousreply 15January 6, 2025 10:33 PM

[quote]But I wouldn’t pass Timothy wining for one reason. The Oscars know they are losing cultural currency. Less viewers each year, every years, movie theaters dying, so many award shows etc. a Timothy win would shake things up and appeal to popular tastes.

Mmm, no R15.

by Anonymousreply 16January 6, 2025 10:35 PM

I don’t understand why he didn’t win the Golden Globe.

by Anonymousreply 17January 6, 2025 10:49 PM

R17: Because he's unlikable and he can't act.

by Anonymousreply 18January 6, 2025 10:50 PM

The Golden Globes usually play contrarian to the Oscars unless the performance is just universally praised which usually happens with one of the 4 acting awards each year. When I say universally praised, obviously they all are but there is usually one which is just heightened above the rest like Jamie Foxx in Ray or Casey Affleck- Manchester by the Sea. Then also because the categories are split into genres that throws another wrench in the game.

by Anonymousreply 19January 6, 2025 10:58 PM

R17, First of all, his movie and he were in the wrong GG categories.

Secondly, who cares what you don't understand?

R15, Exactly how would a Chalamet win "appeal to popular tastes" when his movie's setting is a very specific moment in time, place, and music, none of which is remembered or popular today?

But even if they were all still cared about, one cannot judge Adrien Brody's lead performance without seeing it, which I am 100% certain is true of r17.

by Anonymousreply 20January 6, 2025 10:59 PM

R20 He is popular and a household name. None of the other actors are except maybe Brody.

by Anonymousreply 21January 6, 2025 11:05 PM

R21: Household name? Nobody over 50 or 60 would be able to pick him out of a lineup.

by Anonymousreply 22January 6, 2025 11:54 PM

R22 First of all, a sizeable majority of the country is younger than 50. But also I don’t think your comment is necessarily true.

by Anonymousreply 23January 6, 2025 11:58 PM

[quote]He is popular and a household name. None of the other actors are except maybe Brody.

Adrien Brody/The Brutalist

Colman Domingo/Sing Sing

Daniel Craig/Queer

Ralph Fiennes/Conclave

Sebastian Stan/The Apprentice

Really, R21? You're fucking delusional. But do continue to spout your nonsense, it only confirms how delusional you really are.

by Anonymousreply 24January 7, 2025 1:07 AM

Actually I forgot about Daniel Craig. My bad. Yes Daniel Craig is also a household name.

by Anonymousreply 25January 7, 2025 1:13 AM

Timmy’s best performance was CMBYN. I don’t think anything he did after was as good. Now he seems like a popcorn actor.

by Anonymousreply 26January 7, 2025 1:35 AM

Embarrassing thread failures make me laugh.

by Anonymousreply 27January 7, 2025 1:36 AM

Anyone can mumble through a Dylan impression. Timmy will win the Oscar when he stars as Fievel in a live-action remake of An American Tail.

by Anonymousreply 28January 7, 2025 2:02 AM

His next film looks even worse.

by Anonymousreply 30January 7, 2025 2:17 AM

R29: Don’t tell me there’s a Goop sex scene in which he shows his scrawny ass.

by Anonymousreply 31January 7, 2025 2:23 AM

It seems likely he'll get a nomination but a win is very unlikely. He's too young and the movie isn't popular enough or beloved or have a huge critical appeal. It's not his time.

It'll probably be:

Adrian Brody

Ralph Fiennes

Colman Domingo

TimTim

And, either Daniel Craig or Sebastian Stan for the 5th spot.

by Anonymousreply 32January 7, 2025 2:43 AM

R21, You wouldn't know it judging by his current major awards status.

I really liked "ACU." I thought Timothée did a terrific job. I just find the argument of "youth should win" to be specious.

by Anonymousreply 33January 7, 2025 11:34 AM

Enty is reporting that TImTim's team is already hard at work trying to take down front runner Adrian Brody by trying to rehash old shit about Brody being banned from SNL and his shocking molestation of Halle Berry at the Oscars.

Timmy really wants that Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 34January 7, 2025 11:50 AM

Alas, r32, the movies of all your listed actors seem not to be "popular....or beloved...."

"The Conclave" for damn sure isn't bringing in youthful audiences. I doubt "Queer" or "The Brutalist" are, if they ever even seep into the public consciousness.

"A Different Man" isn't even out until the 21st, GG winner Stan or not. As with the RL subject, more people are apt to choose "The Apprentice," his film about Trump.

"Sing Sing"? Not ANOTHER "good man incarcerated" story?! BT, DT. "Queer"? GMAB! Audiences in significant numbers are not likely to embrace a gay "James Bond," as it were.

IOW, while the acting might be impressive, I don't think the Box Office numbers will be.

by Anonymousreply 35January 7, 2025 11:54 AM

R34, As if anyone cares about SNL's ancient history.

As for Adrien's smooch of Halle: Yes, it was uncalled-for. But it seemed more akin to that iconic "V-E Day" kiss than to a "molestation."

by Anonymousreply 36January 7, 2025 11:59 AM

Timmy better be careful trying to sabotage Brody … Timmy has lots of skeletons in his sparkly top closet.

by Anonymousreply 37January 7, 2025 3:30 PM

Will Timmy select the bagle or the sabotge?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 38January 7, 2025 3:42 PM

Brody is a lock to win but I think now Colman Domingo is in second place. He got the loudest applause when the nominees for best actor in a drama were read and he seems to very well-liked in the industry.

by Anonymousreply 39January 7, 2025 11:09 PM

R39, Domingo is VERY social. He attends every party and industry function. He's made a lot of friends, which turns into votes.

by Anonymousreply 40January 7, 2025 11:38 PM

And, Domingo is VERY likeable and down to earth. He's one of those journeyman actors who "made it" and Hollywood loves that shit. Especially the actors. "If he can do it, I CAN DO IT, TOO!!!"

Frankly, TimTam is about 4th on the list. Adrian has momentum for a strong performance in a hip, arty movie. Ralph is "due" and in an old fashioned, well constructed classic kind of Hollywood film; Domingo is popular and in a "feel good" kind of movie. TimTamCham is in a musical biopic and H'wood awards voters love that, but as already said, he's young and being a bit obvious about his campaign. Which can sometimes work but can sometimes backfire. And, is he actually well liked? Dating a Kardashian really doesn't help him.

by Anonymousreply 41January 7, 2025 11:48 PM

If the claims about Chalamet sabotaging Brody's campaign are true, Brody should absolutely bring up the Daily Mail hit piece alleging diva and toxic workplace allegations on the set of A Complete Unknown. Even Magnold was accused of physical assault in that piece. The news broke during the summer and his PR basically buried it. The Daily Mail or the accusers should've come forward in the fall during the ACU press tour.

by Anonymousreply 42January 7, 2025 11:53 PM

Domingo will win an Oscar before Chalamet.

by Anonymousreply 43January 7, 2025 11:56 PM

R43: He can't win a Golden Globe let alone an Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 44January 8, 2025 12:01 AM

LOL...neither of them have.

by Anonymousreply 45January 8, 2025 12:20 AM

[quote] Timmy’s best performance was CMBYN. I don’t think anything he did after was as good. Now he seems like a popcorn actor.

Even "popcorn" actors win Golden Globes.

Maybe even an Academy Award.

by Anonymousreply 46January 8, 2025 12:27 AM

At this point, isn’t Timmy a novelty personality? Not regarded as a great actor, but recognized as starring in some box office hits. If the ping pong movie also underperforms, he will fade out. He has the last Dune but I think people are sick of him?

by Anonymousreply 47January 8, 2025 1:59 AM

R45, Excuse me?

by Anonymousreply 48January 8, 2025 3:50 AM

R41, A Jenner. NOT a Kardashian.

by Anonymousreply 49January 8, 2025 3:52 AM

[quote] isn’t Timmy a novelty personality? Not regarded as a great actor, but recognized as starring in some box office hits. If the ping pong movie also underperforms, he will fade out. He has the last Dune but I think people are sick of him?

Timmy is the ONLY A-list actor of his age group.

He has project, after project, after project lined up, which is something other actors his age don't have.

They all have to audition for roles. Timmy gets roles made for him.

People are practically begging him to work for them.

Other actors his age have to audition and beg for roles.

The Timmy haters are so sad because none of their bile (lots of it probably coming from Austin Butthead himself) spewed all over this thread will never change the fact that Timmy is a bona-fide A-LIST STAR.

He's invited to all the awards shows, talk shows (all over the world), and photo shoots.

No one in his age group even comes close. They can't touch him.

And the cherry on top is that he'll probably be nominated for an Academy Award this year.

He has already won. Sorry, haters!

by Anonymousreply 50January 8, 2025 3:58 AM

Dylan won an Oscar for Things Have Changed from Wonder Boys. Great song, great movie. No acting involved. He showed up but I don't recall him saying much in his speech. As is Bob.

by Anonymousreply 51January 8, 2025 4:17 AM

Who are these big names supposedly begging to work with Timothee? Chris Nolan just cast a big film and Timothee was not included. I haven’t heard other directors begging to work with him. Because Timothee is frail, quirky and offbeat, he’s going to be stuck playing these oddball character parts.

by Anonymousreply 52January 8, 2025 5:22 AM

R50, You are certifiable. If you really want to continue this "vs Austin Butler" (notice your puerile "naming"), you have already lost. TIMOTHÉE HAS WON NO MAJOR AWARDS, so it is stupid and silly to assert he is "the ONLY A-list actor of his age group," while Butler HAS so won, and is also an Oscar nominee, which status you seem to hold in high regard.

Timothée is not the only actor of his generation getting work, FGS.
