Nearly half of all Democrats want Kamala to run again in 2028 - Part II

Not sure why original thread was closed but there was lots of good commentary on this very important issue.

[quote] Yet despite her manifest intelligence and poise, Harris revealed few instincts for how to climb out of that hole. In an election in which she was running to succeed an unpopular president, she struggled to articulate what, if anything, she would do differently as president. The defining theme of the campaign was Americans’ negative feelings about the economy — that, despite cooling inflation, everything still felt too expensive. But Harris lacked a clear economic message that reflected an understanding of the cost-of-living crisis.

This assessment lacks any understanding of the pressures that shaped her campaign and its message. It was Joe Biden's campaign team which was preparing to run on Joe Biden's record. She was treated as running for Joe Biden's second term by Republicans, the media and her own campaign. She struggled to distance herself from Biden because she could NOT. The loss reflects Biden's unpopularity and the profound efficacy of the MAGA propaganda assault. The next 4 years will show Trump and Republicans are all smoke and mirrors, and worse. Harris has huge potential as our candidate untethered from Biden with competent campaign messaging.

Not going to happen. The party will never nominate her.

It's amazing nearly half of all Democrats are this stupid.

FFS the old thread (mercifully) died and now there’s a part 2?!

Harris is done, dude. We need to move on and that means a primary in a few years.

That’s the absolute last thread befitting a sequel. Hillary will win the 2028 nomination before Kamala does. I don’t care what some goofy poll says. Kamala would get annihilated everywhere outside of California. It would be a dreadful finish for her political career.

If Kamala had to actually compete for the nomination, we wouldn’t be in this mess. She only got the crown because someone handed it to her. That’s not happening again.

The loss reflects Kamala's incompetence and the incompetence of her campaign management.

"There is not a thing that comes to mind", her answer on The View to what she would have done differently than Biden, sums it up.

If, as Steve Bannon insists, the constitutional prohibition applies only to presidents seeking three consecutive terms, I submit for consideration the name of Barack Obama.

by Anonymousreply 8December 25, 2024 12:27 AM

I don’t think it matters anymore.

Rahm strains credulity talking about how Democrats "embraced the establishment." The nation just voted for the establishment. The establishment whose ineptitude gave us Covid-19, and its attendant deaths, lockdowns and vaccines. 78 million Americans are comfortable with the establishment oligarchy.

He is the wrong guy to lead the Dems. I hope he stays far away from the DNC.

Biden is a good president. His unpopularity is due to circumstances beyond his control.

Doesn't matter WHO it is. Why doesn't anybody GET IT?

The MSM will constantly attack them for the tiniest most inconsequential things while whitewashing Trump's most egregious crimes when he runs again. If it's not around then the MSM will automatically enable whatever criminally insane republiqan runs.

by Anonymousreply 12December 25, 2024 12:46 AM

Waste of everyone's time. Dems love losing it seems.

I can’t stand that nasty arrogant hobbit. I saw him in person at a DC movie theater when he was Obama’s Chief of Staff and he’s a little shit. If the DNC puts that thing in charge, then mark my words, the Democrats are DOOMED.
