Susan Collins is CONCERNED about Trump's debt ceiling demand
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said Wednesday evening that she was taken aback by President-elect Trump’s demand that the stopgap spending bill be used to increase the debt ceiling.
Collins, the top GOP appropriator, told reporters that she was surprised by the call and indicated that it had not come up in talks ahead of the incoming president’s last-minute missive.
“This has come as a surprise to me,” she told reporters at the Capitol. “I was surprised that [Trump] wants to move the debt limit vote up to this year.
“I don’t know his rationale,” she added.
Trump’s call came amid increasing frustration over the continuing resolution package Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) negotiated with Democrats.
The 1500-plus page bill includes a number of concessions to Democrats in order to win over needed support and overcome opposition from scores of GOP members.
A provision included that gives lawmakers a pay raise also upset members.
The debt ceiling was not expected to be dealt with until the summer.
The deadline to extend government funding is Friday at midnight.

These Republican stooges acting surprised by Donald Dump are pathetic. He hasn’t even taken office and he”s already creating chaos. If they don’t stand up to him the country is doomed.

Why are they even entertaining Trump's demands right now?
BIDEN IS STILL PRESIDENT!!!
There's still another month left until Trump is sworn in.
This is fucking bullshit.

Exactly r4. Democrats should be doing absolutely jackshit to help Republicans on this. Let them figure out how to fund their bullshit and nonsense. Fuck em. There is no reason to pretend that this is all some Democratic responsibility. If Mike Johnson and the incoming Senate can't get the votes to fund the government and raise the debt ceiling, then it won't happen. It's entirely on them, and Democrats should be very clear about that.

The GOP who never want to address the debt ceiling want it now so they can blame the Dems. Comrade Elon don’t come cheap. #shadow President. Trump is NOT running the show.

Looting. Musk and Trump are 100% focused on looting.
Do MAGAts think that somehow the thousands of people deported; thousands of Federal employees fired; hundreds of government departments and offices eliminated; and the Social Contract of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, WIC, Unemployment Compensation, Minimum Wage, Child Labor Laws, etc., torn to shreds---
Will result in billions or more dollars saved that will magically....what?
Be refunded to THEM?! Lower their grocery and gas costs? Build affordable housing? Reduce their medical bills or student loan debt?
Oh, wait. Yeah, they rejected that last one already. My bad.
That moolah, those Benjamins, all the filthy lucre "saved"---right smack into the manifold bank accounts of "Elon and The Donald," a new Sitcom beginning January 20, 2025, on every single GD network.
Do you expect me to talk?
No, Mr. Bond! I expect you to DIE!

They can blame the Dems all they want. It shouldn't change a thing. Let them scramble to find the votes for all their bullshit. There is absolutely zero reason to help them in any way on anything.

If Trump keeps talking about bringing down the debt, why is he demanding the debt ceiling be raised….

She should stop dying her hair and perhaps go with a less mannish cut.
I don't care what this woman thinks or what she's "concerned" about; when all is said & done, she'll fall in line
