Hannah Kobayashi Speaks Out After Returning to the US: 'My Focus Now Is on My Healing'

Hannah Kobayashi is breaking her silence.

The 30-year-old Hawaii woman, who made headlines around the country after she disappeared into Mexico, has now spoken out for the first time — five days after her family announced she had been found.

On Monday, Dec. 16, Lt. Doug Oldfield, a member of the L.A. Police Department’s missing persons unit, confirmed to PEOPLE that police "received notification that Hannah Kobayashi crossed yesterday – 12/15/2024." Oldfield explained that Kobayashi's case is now closed, and she spoke with Customs and Border Protection and "presented herself for entry into the U.S.," adding that she "appeared to be in good health" and "did not appear to be under any distress."

In a statement provided to PEOPLE by her aunt Larie Pigeon, Hannah also confirmed she is back in the U.S.

"At daybreak on December 15th, I crossed the border back into the United States," the statement began.

"My focus now is on my healing, my peace and my creativity. I am deeply grateful to my family and everyone who has shown me kindness and compassion during this time," it continued.

Kobayashi says she wasn't aware of the media coverage of her after she went missing.

"I was unaware of everything that was happening in the media while I was away, and I am still processing it all. I kindly ask for respect for myself, my family, and my loved ones as I navigate through this challenging time. Thank you for your understanding," the statement concluded.

As previously reported, Kobayashi's family revealed on Dec. 11 that Hannah was "found safe," following what police eventually called a "voluntary" disappearance into Mexico during her travels.

Her sister and mother, Sydni Kobayashi and Brandi Yee, said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time through their attorney, Sara Azari, that they were "incredibly relieved and grateful." It was not clear at the time when, where or how Hannah made contact with her family and Azari said that there would be no further statement.

"This past month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family, and we kindly ask for privacy as we take the time to heal and process everything we have been through," the family shared. "We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us during this difficult time. Your kindness and concern have meant the world to us."

Lt. Doug Oldfield, a member of the L.A. Police Department’s missing persons unit, then told PEOPLE that they learned "Ms. Kobayashi was found" from the family attorney. He added that authorities had "not seen her and at this point we have no reason to compel her to see us."

"It’s a big news story so she may decide to come with a lawyer, but she is not obligated to speak to us," Oldfield said. "We’ll see what happens next. We don't have a lot of details."

"My Healing."

Wow.

This chick could easily be the dumbest CUNT in the herstory of DUMB CUNTS.

What a selfish fucking whore.

So no words about her Dad committing suicide because he couldn't find her???

ME, MY, I.

Narcissistic cunt.

by Anonymousreply 3December 17, 2024 4:42 AM

Your truth, your little arsewipe truth?!

by Anonymousreply 4December 17, 2024 4:47 AM

I honestly hope she dies ASAP

by Anonymousreply 5December 17, 2024 4:49 AM

“My creativity”? What about your dad? What a narcissistic cunt.

by Anonymousreply 6December 17, 2024 5:00 AM

I hate this cunt.

by Anonymousreply 7December 17, 2024 5:08 AM

She caused the suicide of her dad and all she can mention is her creativity? Vile cunt.

by Anonymousreply 8December 17, 2024 5:15 AM

Let's hope she doesn't breed.

by Anonymousreply 9December 17, 2024 5:17 AM

Truly a despicable person. Wow. What an unbelievable example of a completely useless human with absolutely no humanity to her and no redeemable value.

Hoping her entire family cuts her off and she's left to flail and "find her creativity" in utter poverty and destitution.

by Anonymousreply 10December 17, 2024 5:17 AM

Let's hope she isn't on "Drew" next week.

by Anonymousreply 11December 17, 2024 5:19 AM

She reminds me of Casey Anthony

by Anonymousreply 12December 17, 2024 5:21 AM

The family had to have known she's a vapid twit. Hopefully Go FundMe will not pay them a dime.

by Anonymousreply 13December 17, 2024 5:31 AM

(Go Fund Me)

by Anonymousreply 14December 17, 2024 5:32 AM

They’re probably regretting trying to find her now

by Anonymousreply 15December 17, 2024 5:33 AM

Huge chin.

by Anonymousreply 16December 17, 2024 5:40 AM

Human garbage. Here is hoping she has a painful reckoning before dying a painful and bloody death.

by Anonymousreply 17December 17, 2024 5:43 AM

Bat. Shit. Crazy.

by Anonymousreply 18December 17, 2024 5:45 AM

Bullshit, R18.

She's not crazy.

In fact, she's a very TYPICAL female of her generation.

Entitled. Self-Centered. Selfish. Callous.Everything is about HER.

Get used to it, because there are a LOT more where she came from.

by Anonymousreply 19December 17, 2024 5:54 AM

Isn't she going to be in trouble for the fake marriage scam?

There needs to be some kind of consequence.

by Anonymousreply 20December 17, 2024 7:24 AM

This lying and crazy skank needs to pay a price for her psychotic, third world vacation. She essentially killed her own father.

by Anonymousreply 21December 17, 2024 7:40 AM

Why did the LAPD have to be notified that this dunce "crossed yesterday"? The only thing she has to do with Los Angeles is that she flew in from Hawaii on her way to New York and deliberately missed her flight out of LAX, then wandered around for a couple of days before leaving the country. The case has been closed since she left. Hopefully she'll go back home and take her boring drama with her. Cops have enough to do without this twit getting more attention.

by Anonymousreply 22December 17, 2024 7:42 AM

Oh, him, yeah - no worries

by Anonymousreply 23December 17, 2024 7:45 AM

My dad was very selfish for killing himself.

He has no idea how much pain and stress he has caused me by his very selfish act.

My focus now is on MY healing, because of what my father has done to me.

Now please leave me and my GoFundMe account alone, while I spend this time recovering by the trauma my father has caused me.

I love you all!

-Hannah Kabayoshi

by Anonymousreply 24December 17, 2024 8:43 AM

I wonder what kind of family she has where she would be driven to up and disappear like this. Maybe she's borderline. Maybe she's a narcissist. Or maybe the entire family is exhausting and can't stand to be around each other.

The father killing himself may be a sign that mental and emotional instability just runs in this entire family and we, the unwitting spectators, just got taken along for one of their many theatrical rides.

by Anonymousreply 25December 17, 2024 8:49 AM

She does seem like a waste but the dad couldnt gave been wrapped too to tight if he offed himself because of her being missing. Based on all of the info that's come out it seems like it was pretty well known that she had disappeared on purpose so what exactly wasn't about her missing the stressed him to the point of him wanting to die.

by Anonymousreply 26December 17, 2024 9:06 AM

R26, none of that excuses the fact that she is so cold and unfeeling in her "public statement," and makes no mention of her father or his passing.

That is just a cold hearted CUNT, no matter how you try to explain away her behavior.

by Anonymousreply 27December 17, 2024 9:09 AM

I would bet dad had his own set of very colorful issues.

It’s possible he was estranged from the family and thought this was his big chance to insert himself back into their lives.

by Anonymousreply 28December 17, 2024 9:11 AM

r28 Yeah. Let's not be so quick to cut dad some slack. We don't know what kind of person he was. I mean, she's half of that man's DNA. Something clearly stuck. I know they say we're not necessarily our parents but, much to my chagrin, as I've gotten older, I've learned that is absolute poppycock.

by Anonymousreply 29December 17, 2024 9:15 AM

Put her in the cabinet!

by Anonymousreply 30December 17, 2024 12:05 PM

She has that incredibly annoying smug-looking frown-smile

by Anonymousreply 31December 17, 2024 1:43 PM

Oh stfu about trump in every thread

by Anonymousreply 32December 17, 2024 3:13 PM

She wins the Biggest, Most Selfish Cunt award.

by Anonymousreply 33December 17, 2024 3:18 PM

I hope she can manage her "healing" while reimbursing the police who spent hundreds of thousands of dollars looking for her.

by Anonymousreply 34December 17, 2024 3:36 PM

My focus is on driving my mother to suicide next

by Anonymousreply 35December 17, 2024 3:39 PM

Hannah is the "cuntiness cunt who have ever cunted"

Totally selfish Cunt, she planned the whole thing. She needs to be charged with something, other than being a "total Cunt"

by Anonymousreply 36December 17, 2024 3:47 PM

Sounds like a spoiled brat.

by Anonymousreply 37December 17, 2024 3:48 PM

No mention of her dead dad in her "healing" statement.

She's a cunt, all right.

by Anonymousreply 38December 17, 2024 3:59 PM

Now we know why her mother wasn't seen anywhere during this whole "missing person" story.

I don't think there's even one photo of the mother online.

The mother definitely knew what was up.

by Anonymousreply 39December 17, 2024 4:00 PM

How is she not being hounded by the media right now?

You would think that they would be chasing her down for an interview.

The tabloids love this kind of shit.

by Anonymousreply 40December 17, 2024 4:40 PM

I think the Luigi story stole her thunder.

by Anonymousreply 41December 17, 2024 4:43 PM

If my kid went missing the last thing I'd want to do is die. Something was clearly off with him, and probably long before Hannah took a trip.

by Anonymousreply 42December 17, 2024 5:06 PM

She and her family are a bunch of self absorbed, grifting narcissists.

Her father's issues were obviously older and deeper than anything to do with his daughter's latest shenanigans.

by Anonymousreply 43December 17, 2024 5:09 PM

"focus on my creativity", what does that mean? So she can concoct her next scheme?

She's going to get a free trip to NYC to be on one of the morning shows so she can cry alongside her lawyer and spew new agey word salad deflecting all responsibility. They will put her up in a deluxe hotel, fancy dinner and Broadway show tickets. Maybe she can ice skate at Rockefeller Center to help with her "healing".

by Anonymousreply 44December 17, 2024 5:28 PM

She’ll be healing after I kick her ass!

by Anonymousreply 45December 17, 2024 5:35 PM

[quote] She's going to get a free trip to NYC to be on one of the morning shows so she can cry alongside her lawyer and spew new agey word salad deflecting all responsibility. They will put her up in a deluxe hotel, fancy dinner and Broadway show tickets. Maybe she can ice skate at Rockefeller Center to help with her "healing".

They'll also make her out to be the "victim."

Because of her being female, and all.

It was all the man's fault! Her father. Her ex-boyfriend. Her illegal Argentinian husband looking for a green card.

And she was completely innocent.

Fucking dumb bitch.

by Anonymousreply 46December 17, 2024 5:35 PM

Her friends at the smoke shop she worked at said she was heavily into psychedelics. A burnout with some likely serious delusional systems.

by Anonymousreply 47December 17, 2024 5:36 PM

Shut up girl, and go home.

by Anonymousreply 48December 17, 2024 8:27 PM

Yeah, don't much care about her "healing process," but I still think the furious reaction is pretty funny itself. A bunch of people threw themselves into some big stupid drama that had absolutely nothing to do with them, and now they're pissed that the drama didn't end with a corpse in the desert or maybe a sex den in Mexico. Instead it ended with a dumb bitch who went on some kind of bender or some kind of psychotic nonsense. Well, too bad. That doesn't mean anyone gets arrested or you get to sue somebody. Sorry, sometimes things are just stupid and you don't get to punish somebody for the stupidity of it all.

And I don't think anybody needs to give back any money. You gave because you wanted to be part of the drama, and you were. Now it's over. Fuck off and accept the loss.

by Anonymousreply 49December 17, 2024 8:35 PM

R49 The police departments that searched for her, funded by taxpayers, should be repaid for their work.

We tend to get a bit angry when we see our tax dollars going to waste looking for stupid cunts like Hannah.

by Anonymousreply 50December 17, 2024 8:46 PM

“I’m tired guys, I just need to be creative!” 🤡

by Anonymousreply 51December 17, 2024 8:53 PM

The police were paid for their work. They investigated something that seemed like it might be a crime and wasn't. That happens sometimes. It's not actually against the law for an adult to run away from their family. There is no crime here, and nobody to sue. She's an asshole, but that in itself isn't a crime even if our hyperlitigious society would like it to be.

Nobody to charge, nobody to sue. That's just how it is sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 52December 17, 2024 8:55 PM

R52 Thanks for visiting DL, Hannah's sister.

by Anonymousreply 53December 17, 2024 8:56 PM

R53 Not true.

If you become lost in the mountains by your own fault, for example when wandering beyond the designated areas, then - in some resorts - the costs of search and recovery might be recovered from you.

If you go missing at home (in a city/town) and your family members report you as such, then it's discovered that you've left willingly, the police costs for tracking you down are part of their "service," but depending on locality, some jurisdictions have rules on recovering costs for unnecessary work, and in some jurisdictions, legal action can be taken to recover costs.

by Anonymousreply 54December 17, 2024 9:06 PM

The people unrelated to her who got wrapped up in this were morons. Get a life, people.

by Anonymousreply 55December 17, 2024 10:31 PM

Yuck. She should've been beheaded by a Mexican cartel.

by Anonymousreply 56December 18, 2024 2:51 AM

She needs a bitch slap upside the head and to knock her on the ass several times.

Fuck this entitled, narcissistic bitch. I bet we next get some asinine statement from her where she talks about "holding space" for her "grieving" - and that she and her father never had a relationship anyway.

I hope she can't get a job anywhere, INCLUDING and ESPECIALLY a smoke shop. And also gets prosecuted for green card/immigration fraud (or whatever they call it). Her misdeeds and misinformation shouldn't go unpunished, especially when it resulted in the suicide of a relative who was devastated about her disappearance, regardless of his own mental health struggles. She definitely holds responsibility in that, as well the immigration fraud.

by Anonymousreply 57December 18, 2024 3:00 AM

Her ex must feel so relieved

by Anonymousreply 58December 18, 2024 3:24 AM

To be away from her

by Anonymousreply 59December 18, 2024 3:24 AM

If I had a daughter like her I’d kill myself too.

by Anonymousreply 60December 18, 2024 3:59 AM

The ex-BF was supposed to do a green card marriage, too, I thought. He was supposed to marry the GF of Hannah's green card husband. What a group of grifters.

by Anonymousreply 61December 18, 2024 4:02 AM

Something tells me things won't go well for her. Just a hunch.

by Anonymousreply 62December 18, 2024 4:38 AM

[quote] And I don't think anybody needs to give back any money. You gave because you wanted to be part of the drama, and you were. Now it's over. Fuck off and accept the loss.

But it'll hurt future fundraisers for people who ACTUALLY go missing.

This cunt ruins it for EVERYONE.

by Anonymousreply 63December 18, 2024 6:00 AM

[quote]And I don't think anybody needs to give back any money. You gave because you wanted to be part of the drama, and you were. Now it's over. Fuck off and accept the loss.

I assume most people give to GoFundMe out of the goodness of their heart. This family probably knew their daughter/sister/niece was a spacey oddball yet they involved police and asked the public for monetary help. Doubt anyone would have actually given money to help someone who was conducting a scam and was never truly missing. Seems the money was raised on false pretenses and of course it should be returned.

by Anonymousreply 64December 18, 2024 7:45 AM

Absolutely no one would have cared about this story at all if she wasn't young and hot, and I agree with the above posters who say the hysterics over this "case" are beyond MARY at this point. No one here knows this chick's dad from Adam and yet are ready to draw blood just because he went and threw himself off a balcony over his long-estranged daughter going MIA for a few days. She hadn't talked to him for years and maybe for good reason. For all we know he was an abusive POS and she's glad he's dead.

Yes, adults DO have the right to fuck off for a few weeks and go off the map. It's not a crime. She didn't pull a Sherri Papini. She didn't ask to be looked for. She didn't even know she was reported as missing. Her father and aunt seem like exhausting drama queens.

by Anonymousreply 65December 23, 2024 10:11 AM

R65 Hi, Hannah. Thanks for visiting DL.

When are you gonna pay back all that money that was spent to look for your crazy ass?

by Anonymousreply 66December 23, 2024 11:30 AM

[quote]Hi, Hannah...When are you gonna pay back all that money that was spent to look for your crazy ass?

I don't think she should be obliged to pay back the money solicited by her family any more than the police need have pursued the case after classifying her as a "voluntary missing person.'

A goofy bitch who speaks in riddles and Instagram-babble about healing and stroking creativity healing powers isn't in itself a crime. Nor is it criminally suspicious activity for abductees under duress to do a 'photo shoot' of a 'fashion event' then buy some books at a Taschen bookstore at The Grove. Once the police had made some inquiries and determined her status voluntary, what's left for them to do?

Even if her motherś first question after 'did you make it to New York' was to ask if her daughter had been 'catfished by that guy,' I understand the family seeking official help in trying to determine her whereabouts, but what more can be done than make some initial inquiries? Some of her messages indicate that she was worried that people were 'trying to steal her identity' and others chided her mother to back off and let her chase after love and follow her feelings, and that she needs space for her spiritual journey.

At some point it becomes clear it's a personal choice on the part of a 'missing' adult who police determined had intentionally missed her NYC flight, and who had expressed a desire to "step away from modern connectivity" and who met an ex-boyfriend somewhere in the mix (who continued on to NYC as he had planned.)

People flying to California from Japan, launching GoFundMe sites to provide water and supplies for searchers... Searchers where ? The Fucking Grove? A soundproof room beneath the Taschen shop? It was determined early on that she crossed by foot into Mexico on December 12, one day after she failed to make her connection.

The hysteria over a wacky bitch whose mother thought was being catfished, again, is ridiculous. But the GoFundMe, the father committing suicide, they crazy friends trying to divine the hidden meaning of the word 'hun' in a text message is't really her fault. It's not a crime to go incognito. She seems a fucking mess, but welcome to America. She's nothing special in that respect.

by Anonymousreply 67December 23, 2024 1:31 PM

You're a fucking idiot, R67.

I can't believe you're actually trying to defend this dumb cunt, and trying to convince people that what she did is okay.

It's not.

She's a fucking brain dead twat whose father killed himself BECAUSE OF HER. No matter how you try to spin it.

How bizarre that you feel compelled to defend her. You must have done something equally heinous, and you're trying to justify both yours and her behavior.

by Anonymousreply 68December 23, 2024 1:38 PM

R67 I'm glad to see you're exploring your creativity, Hannah.

by Anonymousreply 69December 23, 2024 2:49 PM

I don’t believe the father committed suicide because he couldn’t find her.

by Anonymousreply 70December 23, 2024 2:55 PM

[quote] I don’t believe the father committed suicide because he couldn’t find her.

Okay, Q.

You, and RFK Jr., and Aaron Rodgers.

by Anonymousreply 71December 23, 2024 4:16 PM

You don’t know WHY he killed himself.

by Anonymousreply 72December 23, 2024 4:17 PM

She's obviously a stupid cunt concerned only with her own dramas. My point is that reading between the lines it would appear that her mother has had some prior experience with her daughter chasing after her impulses (granted it's experience from which she evidently learned little.)

The people around the impulsive palindrome disregarded good sense and jumped on the GoFundMe machine to make the hysteria. I think we can be reasonably sure that our Hannah has chased after other things impulsively. Maybe she's even bought a too expensive Taschen book before without informing everyone beforehand.

Hannah cares about healing and her art and Hannah. There's no reason to make a fucking circus out if it, or for her estranged father to fly from Japan to jump off a balcony.

I don't see any qualities to Hannah, but I think that adults have the right to go chase after some cock for a while, or enlightenment, or a way to increase IG likes from here usual 25 or so.

The police seem to have sized it up pretty quickly. The rest of the circus is down to stupid people who assume hysterical outcomes.

by Anonymousreply 73December 23, 2024 5:47 PM

[quote] She's a fucking brain dead twat whose father killed himself BECAUSE OF HER.

R68 Won't somebody think of the estranged fathers with mental problems! SHRIEK!

by Anonymousreply 74December 23, 2024 6:38 PM

"I was unaware of everything that was happening in the media while I was away, and I am still processing it all."

She wasn't aware of the manhunt for her? Fucking lying bitch. Her family was blowing up her phone, sending texts and emails. You gonna tell me she just turned her phone off for a month?

I want this bitch in prison for SOMETHING. You don't put your family and our LEO resources through this and say 'whoopsie'.

Dude - you better NOT be coming to family Christmas this year. She had ample opportunity to text back and say - hey, I'm cool - don't worry just taking a trip. But no - she was giggling her ass off reading the stories about her.

by Anonymousreply 75December 23, 2024 6:48 PM

R75 My understanding was that she left her phone in California right from the start and crossed to Mexico without it. The quote I read was that she wanted to go "off the grid". Obviously, I can't possibly know if that is actually true or not, but that is the story she gave.

by Anonymousreply 76December 23, 2024 10:34 PM

R70 I've been wondering if there isn't more to it than that also. It hadn't been determined she was dead or that anything bad had happened to her. Perhaps he thought something was going to come out implicating him (the reason she was choosing to go "no contact") or he was feeling very guilty about something. It seems suspect for a parent to commit suicide simply because their adult daughter is missing and while the search is continuing.

by Anonymousreply 77December 23, 2024 10:41 PM

R76 - no Millennial or Gen Z is going without their phone for 30 days - and where would she 'leave' it in California? Some mysterious California cell phone drop off box?

How do you just leave your phone somewhere you're not from for 30 days?

Bitch is lying! So much stuff is on your phone. You telling me she never ONCE checked her emails either?

She's a crazy lying bitch - and yes I'm calling here a bitch because there's no way on Earth she could have not known about this.

by Anonymousreply 78December 23, 2024 10:43 PM

Why do I feel like R75/ R78 had a mother who went out to get a pack of cigarettes and never came home when he was a child?

by Anonymousreply 79December 23, 2024 10:50 PM

R78 I think it's unusual, but far from impossible for someone to disconnect for 30 days. This is especially true if she is one of those "trying to find herself" people. I actually know someone who did this for 2 weeks, but she let others know she would be unreachable so as not to worry.

by Anonymousreply 80December 23, 2024 10:52 PM

Why do I feel like R79 is a MASSIVE CUNT in real life, that everyone despises?

Just like Hannah.

by Anonymousreply 81December 23, 2024 10:53 PM

R78 "How do you just leave your phone somewhere you're not from for 30 days?"

I've used these kinds of places myself. Perhaps she stored her phone along with anything else she didn't want to carry. She could have also easily gotten a cheap phone/Mexican sim card if she felt the need. I don't know how any of us complete strangers could know her mindset and what she would or wouldn't do.

by Anonymousreply 82December 23, 2024 11:33 PM

I doubt that she was totally off-line during the month or so she was “missing.”

When she “went missing” in DTLA, I thought she’d turn up dead.

Her father probably had existing issues. Combine that with combing DTLA, guilty feelings about the daughter, and lack of sleep. I’m guessing he thought she was dead.

The sister was a grifter. The aunt was enjoying the spotlight.

by Anonymousreply 83December 23, 2024 11:42 PM

But here's the thing - she didn't tell her family. She was supposed to fly to New York.

That's why they were freaked out - she didn't get on the plane to NY and she didn't let anyone know where she was. If you want to 'disconnect' - fine. But as a single woman traveling by herself, her family was rightfully freaked out when she didn't reply and didn't land in her destination.

Why was she hanging out in the shitty areas of LA? Did she do some kind of reverse drug-mule across into Mexico?

She and her family's need for privacy right now can fuck the right off.

by Anonymousreply 84December 23, 2024 11:44 PM

Some of her last texts before she went quiet - how do you send these and then go AWOL and expect people not to worry? Matrix Underworld shit?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 85December 23, 2024 11:51 PM

I'll agree that she definitely did the wrong thing. She should have let someone (family/friend) know that she wanted to disappear for a month. That said, I don't think that what she did was illegal and I don't see how she would be, in any way, legally responsible for the cost of the search. Adults are not required to maintain contact with their parents or siblings.

by Anonymousreply 86December 23, 2024 11:56 PM

R86 - that may be true, but not old enough for a severe ass beating and grounding her to her room for a few months.

You don't just not show up at a job in NY (remember - she had a photography gig), not meet up with family in NY, miss your flight, send freaky texts about Matrix level stuff going on, then 'find yourself' in the roughest areas of LA and Tijuana.

I hope her family beat her ass good.

I don’t think she was on good terms with anyone in her family. If she was on good terms with at least one person, she could have told that person: hey i am okay, tell everyone to leave me alone.

I think she got bamboozled by the green card guy. The cryptic texts were cryptic b/c it was an illegal thing to begin with. This was like a drug deal gone wrong. Who can you turn to for help? Not the cops.

by Anonymousreply 88December 24, 2024 12:35 AM

The narcissistic things she’s saying sound a lot like the insufferable Meghan Markle.

by Anonymousreply 89December 24, 2024 12:39 AM

Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 what exactly the details of the supposed green card scam was between the four of them? Any article I've seen just vaguely mentions a "possible green card scam" that implicated both Hannah and her ex bf with no explanation of what the actual arrangement was.

Was the other couple traveling with H and the ex Mexican? Did she really love the undocumented guy but then found out he was just using her so she ditched him, the ex, and the other woman and went to Mexico instead because she was so distraught/humiliated? Did she become concerned she'd be charged with something and so ditched her phone and went to Mexico out of paranoia? Or was the arrangement that she'd be the one marrying the Mexican guy in Mexico in order to get citizenship there but then found out he'd stolen her identity? Like, what the hell was the story there?

by Anonymousreply 90December 24, 2024 1:12 AM

Youre overcomplicating things.

She was supposed to get paid to get married to the guy who wanted a green card. Sound like she fell in love and ended up not getting paid.

by Anonymousreply 91December 24, 2024 1:16 AM

R91 Yes, but it sounds like her ex bf was also going to marry the undocumented guy's similarly undocumented partner or ex partner? So did this couple scam both Hannah and her ex?

Did Hannah actually end up marrying him before she took off?

by Anonymousreply 92December 24, 2024 1:19 AM

Didn't her father kill himself when given the news of her "disappearance"? what an entitled twat.

[quote]Why was she hanging out in the shitty areas of LA?

Maybe i missed sine locations in her LA exploits, but hanging out in a Philippe Starck designed bookstore in The Grove may be of dubious taste but it doesn't sound high among the dangerous things one could do in the city.

R92, yes, reportedly, the ex-BF was going to do a green card marriage with the undocumented guy's real GF. There was more corroboration in the news re: Hannah's scam marriage, so I only mentioned that scam.

If the ex-BF got scammed, he didn't go into a tailspin about it. He continued on, from LAX, to NY.

[quote]Why do I feel like [R75]/ [R78] had a mother who went out to get a pack of cigarettes and never came home when he was a child?

The best deductive reasoning in this case, R79. There does seem to be at least who has a thirst for blood -- or spanking, or home detention, or a sound beating. All for an adult who certainly sounds like an up-her-own-ass high drama cunt who did nothing illegal more than turn her phone off and walk to Mexico for a few weeks. Inconsiderate. Not illegal.

I don't think Hannah is the only high drama member of her family. From her mother's text messages, this doesn't seem to be a unique deviation in her Hannah-ness, but rather another episode of her petulance (irksome, worrisome, maybe, not illegal.) This wasn't the first time she went headstrong into asserting herself and chasing a little drama and/or cash and/or adventure (healing, soul searching, artistic journey...).

Quite possibly Hannah haik's from a family of hysterics not a little accustomed to her playing the victim and dropping off the grid when her scheming trajectories went wrong, once again.

Fascinating. Or not. But a relatively minor police investigation that quickly turned up that the adult subject did not seem to be under any danger not of her own choice.

R86 See R54

Just because what she did wasn't illegal, it doesn't necessarily mean she's off the hook.

Lock her up!

Lock her up!

Does anyone have any links about the green card marriage scams? That's the first I've heard of it - but that makes a lot more sense.

She was up to something illegal, so she doesn't want to admit to anything.

Here's the article about the green card marriage and love square with ex-BF dating green card husband's real GF.

by Anonymousreply 101December 24, 2024 4:50 PM

R100 - thank you - oh God. It's worse than I thought. So all this time they painted her out to be some photographer and visiting family in NY, when she was a drug addict, worked at a head shop and was part of a green card scam - and all her friends knew?

Why didn't this come out sooner?

I love how Desiree, her friend and co-worker at the smoke/head shop, just gave up ALL the dirt. I'm picturing her as this young black woman who doesn't have time for this bullshit and was pissed off by all the fake news and reporting on it.

Everyone, give Desiree a round of applause! Somehow there should still be some charges - even plotting a green card scam seems like an offense, no?

by Anonymousreply 102December 24, 2024 5:39 PM

Did her father molest her?

Is she a lezzie?

by Anonymousreply 103December 24, 2024 5:50 PM

Drug-induced psychotic break. How vanilla.

[quote]You don't just not show up at a job in NY (remember - she had a photography gig), not meet up with family in NY, miss your flight, send freaky texts about Matrix level stuff going on, then 'find yourself' in the roughest areas of LA and Tijuana.

As suspected: fake as fuck. 99% of everyone with an Instagram account thinks he or she is a professional photographer. She wasn't a professional photographer any more than she was a sought after mandala (Etch-a-Sketch) artist, and no one was paying to fly her in from her dirt road in Hawaii to a professional shoot in NYC (where I believe they also have photographers who can do a passable 'moody girl giving a sideways look from a field of high grasses, wildflowers, and halated sun rings.')

The mother, the sister, her co-workers at the weed shop, everybody and his brother knew about her green card wedding scam. Yet the family let people think that dangerous foreign factions might be involved in some sort of mind control/abduction plot; and it was they who instigated a GoFundMe campaign. Of course it wasn't an abduction, it was just Hannah having a little fit (and neither her first nor last) when confronted by too many boyfriends, fake boyfriends and their current girlfriends. Worse, she realized that the second $15,000 she was expecting for the immigration scam was not forthcoming -- surely the financial foundation of dream destination NYC trip where the only photoshoot was to be some bogus photos with her new $30,000 Argentine husband. When her plan fell to pieces, she stormed off to Mexico in a huff and punished her tormentors by spending a month fucking any nomadic hippie would would give her a beer.

A young woman 'imperilled in the world' by her own greed and anger, and her family completely onto the plot.

by Anonymousreply 105December 24, 2024 7:09 PM

Is the hot Argentian man with $30,000 still looking for a marriage? Asking for a friend.

by Anonymousreply 106December 24, 2024 7:23 PM

“Photographer” was a nice way of saying “unemployed,” although she did work at the head shop. Like calling someone a “model” because they post photos of themselves on IG.

Not sure why this was a mystery for so long when the head shop coworkers were chatty and they knew all about the green card marriage, drug use, etc.

That still leaves the question of why dad was so dustraught. Seems like she had a history of flakiness.
