The fact that this malignant narc is still clinging to power despite his scandals and extreme incompetence tells you everything you need to know about him. I hope history remembers him as the doofus he is, like the doofus @ r3.

Chrystia: stunt queen
I mean sure, but sure, she was especially nasty and utterly selfish
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 17, 2024 3:07 AM |
Chrystia Freeland, granddaughter of a Ukrainian Nazi collaborator, deep state operative and flunky, knew which way the wind was blowing with the incoming Trump II. So she bailed.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 17, 2024 3:30 AM |
Is anyone else surprised by just how long Justin has actually lasted for? The dude was a joke from the start.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 17, 2024 3:58 AM |
Chrystia Freeland was once a Washington journalist. A frequent panelist on PBS’s Washington Week in Review.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 17, 2024 4:10 AM |
Isnt this just adorable?!
They are cosplaying as if they were a real country!

r13, people in glass houses'n all that shit...
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 17, 2024 4:17 AM |
She was on NPR's "Left, Right, and Center" regularly too. I forget if she was center or left.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 17, 2024 4:25 AM |
This dumb bitch. I wish he had just stayed teaching and spared us all.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 17, 2024 5:17 AM |
She was a semi-regular on the McLaughlin Group, too, while at the Financial Times.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 17, 2024 5:32 AM |
Good Lord! He's been Prime Minister for 9 YEARS?!!!! Are there no term limits in Canada?!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 17, 2024 5:48 AM |
r18 He's called snap elections to remain in power before all this shit went down.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 17, 2024 7:12 AM |
R19, lots of leaders call early elections in a Parliamentary system. Stephen Harper did it when he was Prime Minister. Doug Ford is thinking of doing the same thing in Ontario. The leader of Nova Scotia just did it a few weeks ago.
Having said that, Justin had an undefeated run of victories and should have retired on top after 3 general election wins. He has stayed too long and Canadians are telling him that in the polls.
As for Chrystia Freeland, she was a poor communicator with a whiny voice and has felt entitled to a cabinet position she didn't really deserve. She is like a Canadian version of Hillary Clinton -- smart on a policy wonk level, but not an effective communicator.

What does it all mean?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 17, 2024 8:55 AM |
r20 You realize I'm Canadian, right?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 17, 2024 9:04 AM |
The writing's been on the wall for some time now. Like most western countries, Canada seems eager to usher in a right wing government.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 17, 2024 11:44 AM |
I like Justin and will always worship his ass, but even a supporter like me can admit he should have bowed by now. The perfect opportunity was when Sophie dumped him. Gave him the “time to heal” excuse. Now, he’s gonna lose bigly and no one will remember any good things he did. And Canadians can’t say he hasn’t done any good, either. I think many will figure that out once PP is in power undoing some of those things.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 17, 2024 11:52 AM |
An announcement is imminent. I believe That rather than call a snap election, Trudeau will resign

Perhaps, but was she ever in the legitimate theatre?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 17, 2024 12:59 PM |
Yes r13. As opposed to the banana republic that is America now.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 17, 2024 7:31 PM |
He has cancelled his year end interviews. He will probably resign very soon.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 18, 2024 8:28 AM |
You people have no idea what great things that Trump will do for America.
He's a winner and keeps on winning!
You've been wrong about EVERYTHING concerning his comeback. 😂
The lefties tried to turn the country into a communist police state, just like they've done to Canada.
Thankfully, we were spared!
But Canada looks to go down the shithole!
They can always become the 51st state. 🤣

No, R31, his figurative ass.

Trump is trolling Trudeau big time. I almost feel sorry for JT. It's very disrespectful trolling too.

Because Dump has the mental capacity of a 5 year old.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 18, 2024 10:59 PM |
R28 My money is on him staying at least until Parliament resumes at the end of January. I think his cancelling his year end interviews is just him digging in and avoiding scrutiny. There's a rumour going round that he's holding out in hopes that Poilievre is going to be named in the RCMP investigation into foreign interference, the report being due out in January, but that's a pipe dream for his supporters.
Beyond the crazy "Fuck Trudeau" movement, the reality is that no Prime Minister in the modern era has lasted more than 9 to 10 years in office. In fact, his support was already waning by the 2019 election. I think he's surrounded by yes people who are stroking his ego and he believes that he still can play off the distrust of the Conservatives (as he did in 2019 and 2021) to win again, but it doesn't matter what he does (or what the Liberals do for that matter) people want change. The Conservatives are going to win the next election by a landslide, there's no alternative at this stage really. Trudeau reminds me of Harper running again in 2015 when he should've resigned the year before.
R24 I actually think his separation is one of the reasons he's staying. I think he has nothing else going on in his life and he's only in his early 50s.

The dude was a joke from the start.
Canadian GDP has risen 40% since he’s been PM.

It's a sad state off affairs in Canadian politics when the political leader who seems the most prepared to deal with Trump is Doug Ford!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 19, 2024 5:26 AM |
America always leads the way, Canada fallows. Canadian version of Trump will soon sweep the country with populism and the will feel the pain America did 8 years ago. Suck it up Canucks.

This prick is hated by so many Canadians.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 19, 2024 9:19 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 19, 2024 10:13 AM |
I hate Poilievre but he's no Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 19, 2024 9:30 PM |
A Canadian conservative government can never get as bad as trump. Our government is structured differently so a crazy person could never completely take over

You're correct. Canadians have a combination of fewer crazy assholes, no equivalent of deep south backwardness (prairie provinces are tame in comparison) and the gift of hindsight witnessing the Trump takeover of America to keep themselves from fucking up and voting for extremist right-wing candidates. Be proud that your stable democracy isn't under threat.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 20, 2024 12:56 AM |
One of the few advantages of Canada's system of constitutional monarchy means the Prime Minister is not the head of state nor the head of the armed forces. The Governor General or the Monarch could dismiss a PM who began playing with fascism. It should be said though, Trump sure has a boner for the idea of Canada becoming part of the US. That is actually a more serious threat than a Conservative government.

That's not how this works! That's not how any of this works!

I read the free parts of Diane Francis' substack. This the conclusion of her Dec 19 essay "Uh Oh Canada:
...Trudeau’s polling is abysmal, but an election can’t be held until he leaves. The result is political uncertainty and chaos, given Trump’s taunts, party infighting, and Trudeau’s unpopularity. Last week, the popular leader of the Conservative Party, Pierre Poilievre, summed up the situation and delivered a damning indictment of Canada’s lost decade thanks to Trudeau’s amateurs. “If you hire clowns, you get a circus…There are real consequences from this clown show.”
That’s an understatement. Canadians now find themselves in an existential crisis of their own creation. America and the world are watching, and Canadians must figure out how to get rid of the Trudeau regime and elect a responsible government. If not, they will be badgered by American tariffs, continue to slide economically, or eventually be forced to join America despite its gun madness and healthcare mess.
In 2013, I wrote a book about the US-Canada relationship with Harper Collins titled “Merger of the Century.” I predict the two countries will eventually merge economically (like the EU) and/or politically (and become one country) by 2100. The book profiled both nation-states, their histories, cultures, economies, dysfunctional political systems, and geopolitical realities and examined various merger models.
I am an American and a Canadian citizen."
