The THR Icon opens up about his difficult childhood, how acting saved him and which Logan Roy kid he’d like to spend Christmas with.
Brian Cox Unloads on Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Strong and Why the Oscars Are “Nonsense”

Who??
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 16, 2024 6:09 PM |
I'm sure if he got nominated he'd be the first one there begging for attention.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 16, 2024 6:14 PM |
“Cox Unloads on Kevin Spacey” was not an accident
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 16, 2024 6:27 PM |
The guys just seems like the biggest asshole.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 16, 2024 9:09 PM |
I almost admire his bitchiness and damming praise.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 16, 2024 9:30 PM |
He reminds me of a more butch Gore Vidal.
Both excellent in their field, both cunts.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 16, 2024 10:42 PM |
Why don’t you help get Kevin a job?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 16, 2024 11:08 PM |
That was a good interview. I don't think he unloaded on anyone. He was great in Adaptation.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 16, 2024 11:13 PM |
He never gives a bad interview.
And yes, r8, there was no unloading. He don’t even take the bait when asked about Steven Seagal.
Yet he still comes off as very straightforward, albeit in a no-fucks-given blustery way.

"Ba da ba ba ba" (he is the voiceover on the McD commercials )
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 17, 2024 12:04 AM |
He does ads for McRibs. He can sit the fuck down.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 17, 2024 12:25 AM |
What's your point, r11?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 17, 2024 12:44 AM |
Brian Cox just speaks honestly without doing the PR approved bullshit speak. He has earned the right to be that way.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 17, 2024 12:51 AM |
r11 and?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 17, 2024 12:51 AM |
Love him!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 17, 2024 12:52 AM |
How misleading (click bait) that the article headline says he 'unloads' on Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Strong. He didn't at all - not even remotely. Weird.
Brian Cox is awesome.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 17, 2024 12:57 AM |
Didn't he play Uncle Argyle in Braveheart? He came riding up on that white horse.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 17, 2024 1:05 AM |
Nobody needs or wants Spacey to come back, the old male Hollywood guard needs to let that go.
Not surprised to learn from this article that Jeremy Strong used to be Daniel Day Lewis’s assistant. That explains a LOT.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 17, 2024 1:15 AM |
One of Brian Cox's best roles is as King Agamemnon in "Troy" (2004). He brought a ferocious energy to the role.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 17, 2024 8:43 AM |
Didn’t he play a pedo, or an American Nazi? Or was it a Nazi pedo?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 17, 2024 8:49 AM |
Yeah I guess that makes him a bad person, r20. Maybe he's even a pedo Nazi in real life! Thanks for reminding us that he's unworthy of respect.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 17, 2024 9:08 AM |
I was trying to recall the movie, not castigate him, asshole
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 17, 2024 9:15 AM |
I almost admire his bitchiness and damming praise.
Me too! And I don't think he criticized Jeremy Armstrong exactly - he just said his method wasn't his cup of tea. And given his consistent "no fucks to give" attitude, he clearly finds it all tedious, which it probably is. I like the guy. He *is* Logan Roy - no acting required!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 17, 2024 9:21 AM |
He seems to have a large amount of empathy, something I imagine is important for an actor.
About his performance in Churchill compared to Okdman. I've seen neither, but read Oldman was hammy. This is as critical as he gets in tge interview.
So my film never even got a look, and I still think my performance is a better performance.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 17, 2024 10:08 AM |
He's unapologetically liberal/socialist. I remember first seeing him the [italic]The Lost Language of Cranes[/italic] playing the secretly gay father of the main character.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 17, 2024 10:34 AM |
Excellent in his youth with jet black hair in In Celebration with Alan Bates and James Bolam.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 17, 2024 10:43 AM |
1974.. must have been the first film I ever saw him in / 50 years ago
78 years old... he's never stopped working I guess.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 17, 2024 12:07 PM |
He was hot as Hannibal Lecter. Also as a non native english speaker he speaks the most beautiful form of english I have ever heard
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 17, 2024 12:36 PM |
What he said about Kevin Spacey was certainly not "unloading" on him. I think he was quite cordial toward him.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 17, 2024 12:43 PM |
I find Kevin Spacey creepy, very unattractive and lecherous.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 17, 2024 12:48 PM |
I find him rather tiresome and "Succession" was just a collection of self-involved, unlikable characters. Cox has a CBE so he isn't averse to questionable awards. It seems like every working actor his age has some of those royal initials.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 17, 2024 12:49 PM |
R28, Brian Cox is a non-native English speaker? Since when? He was born and raised in Scotland.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 17, 2024 2:53 PM |
Wasn't he doing commercials a couple of years back? Low-rent Patrick Stewart if I recall?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 22, 2024 10:37 PM |
I think r28 was referring to himself, r32.
