I've said this before and I'll say it again: Donald Trump knows how to win an election. He hasn't got a fucking clue how to run the government efficiently. See his botched response to COVID in 2020. Everything he did was a reaction without a scintilla of leadership. He couldn't even run his casinos without driving them into bankruptcy.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 12, 2024 7:10 PM |
Given a choice between a candidate that acknowledged that the inflation in grocery prices was devastating and a candidate that claimed that inflation was down (by referring only to the current rate of additional inflation) and that the economy is great, voters are going to pick the former, even if the candidate can’t change it.
Harris had a golden opportunity to separate herself from the Biden administration by acknowledging how greatly the American people suffered from the inflation part of Bidenomics, but she chose to stick like glue to Biden and the administration.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 12, 2024 7:18 PM |
The "eggs are $8" excuse was pure bullshit. These deplorotards all have boats, RVs, giant gas guzzler trucks, etc. I'm tired of hearing it.
When Trump crashes the economy, will they ever admit they were wrong? No, they'll just double down and find a way to blame Democrats. The best we can hope for is that they won't be motivated to vote next time.
Too bad Covid didn't kill more of these people.

Dear R10: news flash, just because Trump thinks prices will go down, doesn't mean prices will go down.
Just like in March of 2020 when Trump said the COVID-19 virus would dissipate in the heat of the summer months of 2020. We all knew that was bullshit. Well, maybe gullible morons like you believed it because you desperately want to suck Trump's shit encrusted asshole.

"PPI, “Core” PPI, “Core Services” PPI Inflation Much Hotter after Whopper Up-Revisions Going Back Months by Wolf Richter • Dec 12, 2024 • 13 Comments The problem is in services, which account for 67% of PPI. But goods prices are re-accelerating too. The whole inflation scenario has changed".
So inflation is back with a bang and what does Trump want? LOWER interest rates. That's what brought it back, the Fed cutting rates. Trump is Wall Street, and Wall street wants cheap money. Trump knows perfectly well lower interest rates won't help consumers as he claims. He must think we're stupid? Can this be?

Inflation is the change in prices so what you are saying is stupid and illiterate. Inflation does not mean the permanent increase in prices. Prices now are enormously higher than in 1924. That does not mean we have suffered from enormous inflation for 100 years. I am glad the democratic candidate did not share your stupidity

Core services are every single thing BESIDES food and energy.
That's rent, cars, durable goods, services, EVERYTHING other than groceries and energy. This is the massive category that's INFLATED

I posted this in the other thread, but it bears repeating.
Listen to George Orwell in "1984":
[quote]“In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense. And what was terrifying was not that they would kill you for thinking otherwise, but that they might be right. For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable—what then?”

His supporters really just that childlike. I overheard a discussion of how expensive oranges were. One of the women, who is a Trump supporter, said, “Just wait till January and that will change.” As if Trump can issue an executive order against inflation that Biden was too feckless to issue.

His campaign promise to lower grocery bills was total bullshit. It's extremely difficult to roll back down prices, unless you pass regulations that restrict price increases or limit the profit margin by companies.
Tariffs will be paid by corporations and passed onto the consumers - inflationary.
Closing the borders so that no immigrants can come in will cause a drop in lower wage workers - inflationary.
Deporting millions of migrants, illegal and legal, will also cause a drop in lower wage workers - inflationary.
Tax breaks to the corporations and the rich - Also inflationary.

The trick is to buy something that goes a long way. A whole chicken, for example gives you a lot of meals after roasting. You can make chicken sandwiches with the leftovers as well as chicken tacos. You can use the carcass to make chicken soup with the broth (skim the fat that rises to the top). Just throw in celery, carrots and onions to the broth. Round that out with noodles or rice to add to the broth.

Time Magazine: "If the prices of groceries don't come down, will your presidency be a failure?"
"I don't think so. Look, they got them up. I'd like to bring them down. It's hard to bring things down once they're up. You know, it's very hard. But I think that they will. I think that energy is going to bring them down. I think a better supply chain is going to bring them down. You know, the supply chain is still broken. It's broken. You see it. You go out to the docks and you see all these containers. And I own property in California, in Palos Verdes. They're very nice. And I passed the docks, and I've been doing it for 20 years. I've never seen anything like it. You know, for 17 years, I saw containers and, you know, they'd come off and they'd be taken away—big areas, you know, you know, in that area, you know, where they have the big, the big ships coming in—big, the port. And I'd see this for years as I was out there inspecting property and things, because they own a lot in California. And I look down and I see containers that are, that are 12, 13, 14 containers. You wouldn't believe they can hold each other. It's like crazy. No, the supply chain is is broken. I think a very bad thing is this, what they're doing with the cars. I think they lost also because of cars. You know, there are a lot of reasons, but the car mandate is a disaster. The electric, the EV mandate."
