DL Fave Julia Phillips on Donahue
OMG! I found a full episode of Jules, hot of You'll Never Eat Lunch in this Town Again, spilling the martinis on all of Hollywood. SHe is considerably more charming on the show than she comes off in her scathing book.
Now, how's this for trivia - her daughter is married to MEGA power player Modi Wicyk, head of MRC, which is responsible for some of Hollywood's hottest hits. Talk about an LA story!!
Any LA eldergays met Jools?

I remember this interview, this was a fun book and she was bitchy in this interview.
One audience member asked her about Streisand/Don Johnson/Melanie Griffith, and she snapped, “I am Julia the author and producer, not Julia the gossip columnist.”

Loved her. loved the book. They don't make broads like that anymore.

Julia was indeed a BROAD.

Phillips was a deluded fool who thought people were actually interested in her, not the gossip in her book. & here's the really sad thing, her claim to fame was garbage, her father & husband actually were the producers.

Her response was too snooty for an authoress known for writing a memoir featuring lots of gossip.

I read the book. I remember she was really hard on Steven Spielberg.

She considered the late Corey Haim to be one of her best friends. He was just a (very damaged) kid.

That book was an entertaining mess, the follow-up was unreadable.

Long after the book was published and became a hit, her ex-husband let it be known that her accounts of some of the incidents were faulty and exaggerated and somewhat untruthful. The other producer in the trio was the gorgeous Tony Bill. He along with the ex did most of the heavy lifting in their partnership. She mostly smoked crack and shacked up with a dealer.

Her ex-husband is staid and normal. They seemed a peculiar pair.

Tony Bill performed a wild stint on Murder She Wrote.

All I remember about her book is her vivid description of how desperate she was for crack cocaine

She gave the sign of the cross when saying NO to Debra Winger playing her in a biopic.

The book has a lot of gossip, but it's rambling, unfocused and sometimes hard to follow.

She says Goldie Hawn has a heart of stone but means it as a compliment.

Yeah - now that we have online info, which we didn't have back then - it seems like her husband was the wealthy one who was the main producer.
It's a bit disingenuous to call yourself a producer when you were given a credit in your husband's project.
She seems crazy and full of her self.
