Miss Priss Elton John calls the legalization of marijuana ‘One of the Greatest Mistakes of All Time’

Elton John criticized the legalization of marijuana, saying it’s “addictive” and impairs cognitive thinking.

“I maintain that it’s addictive. It leads to other drugs,” John, who was named Icon of the Year by Time Magazine, told the outlet. “And when you’re stoned — and I’ve been stoned — you don’t think normally. Legalizing marijuana in America and Canada is one of the greatest mistakes of all time.”

John, 77, looked back on his own experiences with drugs, saying that cocaine was his drug of choice after being introduced to the narcotic by former manager and lover John Reid. Following the death of his friend Ryan White, who contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion, John checked into Chicago’s Parkside Lutheran Hospital on July 29, 1990 — and has remained sober ever since.

“It all came to a climax, really, at the Ryan White funeral in Indianapolis — a really sad and emotional week — and I came back to the hotel thinking I’m just so out of line,” John told Time. “It was a shock to see how far down the scale of humanity I’d fallen.”

“You make terrible decisions on drugs,” John explained. “I wanted love so badly, I’d just take hostages. I’d see someone I liked and spend three or four months together, and then they would resent me because they had nothing in their life apart from me. It really upsets me, thinking back on how many people I probably hurt.”

Now sober, John has helped others kick the habit. He reached out to support Boy George’s sobriety journey, and as he revealed in his 2019 memoir, Me, John is friend and collaborator Eminem’s Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor.

The outlet reports he also tried to help George Michael, who died on Christmas Day in 2016 of heart disease and fatty liver, which can be caused by alcohol abuse.

“It’s tough to tell someone that they’re being an a—hole, and it’s tough to hear,” he says, saying that when it came to getting sober, “Eventually I made the choice to admit that I’m being an a—hole.”

You know what really fucking annoys me about cunts like Elton John?

The HYPOCRISY.

When she was out drugging, whoring, and having her fun, it was all okay.

But now that she's fat, old, and sober, all of a sudden it's a "great mistake" and should be stopped.

I'll tell you what should be stopped - YOUR BIG, FAT FUCKING MOUTH.

Keep your judgment to yourself, and let other people make their own goddamned decisions, you stupid CUNT!

YOU lived your life. Now let others live theirs.

by Anonymousreply 1December 11, 2024 9:08 PM

I love him, even with all his flaws. He is a musical genius and a survivor.

by Anonymousreply 2December 11, 2024 9:09 PM

R2, you’re wailing at the knowledge and wisdom that one gains through experience and aging. When he was a partaker, he didn’t see the problem. Now that he’s older and wiser, he can see what a huge mistake it was. It’s appropriate for him to speak out.

by Anonymousreply 3December 11, 2024 9:15 PM

Sorry, that was meant for r1.

by Anonymousreply 4December 11, 2024 9:15 PM

“You make terrible decisions on drugs,” John explained.

Yes, we've heard those songs.

by Anonymousreply 5December 11, 2024 9:16 PM

[quote] Following the death of his friend Ryan White, who contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion

That's really creepy that he was friends with a pubescent boy.

by Anonymousreply 6December 11, 2024 9:16 PM

Michael Jackson was "friends" with Ryan White too.

Just saying.

by Anonymousreply 7December 11, 2024 9:18 PM

Ryan White was an insatiable bottom.

by Anonymousreply 8December 11, 2024 9:20 PM

[quote] That's really creepy that he was friends with a pubescent boy.

“Friends”, not “friends with benefits”. Adults can be friends with kids. Is there a better word for a friendship between kid and a non-relative adult?

by Anonymousreply 9December 11, 2024 9:20 PM

He's a fucking moron.

by Anonymousreply 10December 11, 2024 9:22 PM

What does the ancient chipmunk have to say about alcohol? Which will destroy your body and causes much worse behavior than weed?

by Anonymousreply 11December 11, 2024 9:22 PM

There are all kinds of THC nowadays. Not all are bad and it all depends on person and age, too.

That said, I have potheads in my college classes and I see its doing them no good, being stoned everyday and muddling through. Often they are clever and medicating.... something. Fleeing something. Its not my business but its plain as day they hiding. There's no other reason to be high, every fucking day, especially in university which is filled with opportunities to expand your mind, not lull it.

by Anonymousreply 12December 11, 2024 9:23 PM

Did he have any problem getting weed when it was illegal? Did anyone?

by Anonymousreply 13December 11, 2024 9:26 PM

Regular users of marijuana don’t see how it has altered them adversely.

by Anonymousreply 14December 11, 2024 9:27 PM

Ya ever listen to "Step Into Christmas" ... on WEED??

by Anonymousreply 15December 11, 2024 9:27 PM

Dame Elton just needs to smoke copious amounts of pot.

by Anonymousreply 16December 11, 2024 9:29 PM

One of the greatest mistakes of all time was that Tiny Dancer remake collab with Britney Spears.

by Anonymousreply 17December 11, 2024 9:30 PM

I wonder what he thinks about all you can eat buffets and 24-hour toupee stores!

by Anonymousreply 18December 11, 2024 9:32 PM

Studies prove him wrong, unsurprisingly.

by Anonymousreply 19December 11, 2024 9:32 PM

R8 Too soon

You guys commenting on being friends with Ryan: it’s obvious you weren’t around during those early days of AIDS. They supported Ryan because his community was treating him like shit.

by Anonymousreply 20December 11, 2024 9:35 PM

Fuck that grumpy old queen and pass the bong.

by Anonymousreply 21December 11, 2024 9:36 PM

R12 they're in pain. those students may not even be able to remotely function without marijuana. It could be the only thing keeping them on task, or alive, even.

by Anonymousreply 22December 11, 2024 9:37 PM

If Luigi smoked POT, maybe that CEO would still be alive.

Have you ever thought about THAT, Miss JOHN???

by Anonymousreply 23December 11, 2024 9:43 PM

r12 They have to listen to you drone on, of course they're drugging themselves

by Anonymousreply 24December 11, 2024 9:50 PM

I remember when EJ went into Parkside Hospital. I didn't live far from there. He said something that I never forgot. He said it was the only place in the world that could treat all of his addictions at once. His addictions being food, cocaine, alcohol and severe depression. He was open about it, which I've appreciated. I thought it was really nice that he was there for Ryan White and his mom.

by Anonymousreply 25December 11, 2024 10:52 PM

Shut up grandpa and go sit in your rocker. Nurse will bring you a hot cocoa soon.

by Anonymousreply 26December 11, 2024 11:01 PM

I think having Delta 8 and Delta 9 legalized was one of the most important unspoken social reforms in the US in recent history.

by Anonymousreply 27December 11, 2024 11:04 PM

R25 depression is now an addiction?

by Anonymousreply 28December 11, 2024 11:34 PM

Remember when Elton started bitching about George Michael smoking pot and living his life quietly and George told him in an interview to mind his own fucking business.

Listen to George, Elton. Mind your own fucking business. Go and play with your ugly glasses collection. Or your ugly tracksuits.

by Anonymousreply 29December 11, 2024 11:41 PM

I was a member of the Los Angeles Cannabis Resource Center in 1995, when it was located above a small shop in West Hollywood. The security to get in was tight. They'd cook huge pots of spaghetti sauce for us to eat while we sat around and medicated. Very grassroots. I'm amazed, as would the guys who wrote Prop 215, at the multi-billion dollar business it became.

by Anonymousreply 31December 11, 2024 11:46 PM

Remember when Furnish and John got a "super injunction" in the UK courts to stop media speculation that it was them who hired male hookers in five star hotel suites and used a paddling pool filled with olive oil. Presumably NO POT was allowed at the pristine drug free orgy.

by Anonymousreply 32December 11, 2024 11:50 PM

Here we go.

According to the Enquirer, Furnish and Laurence began exchanging messages online in 2008 and hooked up in March 2009 at the Mayfair Hotel in London.

Furnish “wanted me to penetrate him and was very demanding and specific about this,” Laurence said in an affidavit obtained by the tabloid. “We did have unprotected sex.”

The two men continued to communicate online — and saw each other again at an event in Palm Springs — but did not have sex again until April 2010. Laurence alleges the tryst took place in the London home Furnish shares with Elton John.

The Enquirer published a Facebook chat it claims is between Furnish and Laurence. In it, Furnish asks Laurence about having a threesome.

“I am getting hard thinking about it,” Furnish allegedly wrote.

“I have to be sooooooo careful.”

The threesome, which allegedly took place at the home of Laurence and Van den Bergh in December 2011, involved wrestling in a pool of olive oil.

Laurence also alleged that Furnish was “into being tied up and dominated.”

Sir Elton is wrong about this. No one smokes and gets behind the wheel of a car and kills people but many drink and drive and kill innocents. Alcohol is a toxin and the true gateway drug that ruins lives. The liquor stores stayed open during the quarantine and people stayed home DRUNK, burning their kidneys out.

[quote]Legalizing marijuana in America and Canada is one of the greatest mistakes of all time.

A greater mistake than a gay man performing at Rush Limbaugh's wedding and "bonding" with him?

by Anonymousreply 38December 12, 2024 12:19 AM

He is projecting. I’ll give him this — he’s always saying “California sober” doesn’t work for people who are addicts and I believe he’s right about that. But not everyone is an addict, and he can’t judge everyone by addict standards.

by Anonymousreply 39December 12, 2024 12:23 AM

Fuck off, Elton.

by Anonymousreply 40December 12, 2024 12:27 AM

Another Rich Gay Magat.

by Anonymousreply 41December 12, 2024 12:29 AM

There are some "recovering" addicts who have a cognitive problem called "stinking thinking". Everything is so concrete. Just because he can't use cannabis sensibly doesn't mean we must all be deprived of one of life's few remaining and relatively harmless pleasures. And I hate his wig.

by Anonymousreply 42December 12, 2024 12:30 AM

Prohibition worked so well.

by Anonymousreply 43December 12, 2024 12:37 AM

[QUOTE]cognitive thinking

Sigh.

If I had a kid in college, I'd much rather s/he smoke weed recreationally than drink. Alcohol is much more damaging physically and impairs cognition (judgment) and motor functioning far more than THC. And you don't black out or get THC poisoning after overindulging. You just stay locked to the couch until you fall asleep.

Also, you never hear of stoners out with pals getting separated from their group while heavily intoxicated, disappearing, and found dead in a body of water a week or so later.

by Anonymousreply 44December 12, 2024 12:55 AM

I wish they'd regulate the strength a bit more. It's like drinking all brandy, all the time. Sometimes, I just want the equivalent of a glass of wine.

by Anonymousreply 45December 12, 2024 12:57 AM

by Anonymousreply 47December 12, 2024 1:11 AM

Wait is marijuana illegal in England?

by Anonymousreply 48December 12, 2024 1:14 AM

I smoke every single day but only in the evening's after work. In my day job I am very focused and pretty damn good at it and then I go home and relax and work on my music or writing or whatever other weird thing I'm doing and frankly it gives me focus and energy to do it. I've been doing this since probably around when I was 33 so about 12 years now and I really don't see how it's had any adverse effects on my life.

by Anonymousreply 49December 12, 2024 1:18 AM

There's more people like you than you think, r49.

by Anonymousreply 50December 12, 2024 1:19 AM

He is right. Wait for the massive increase in schizophrenia due to widespread teenage marihuana use.

by Anonymousreply 51December 12, 2024 1:20 AM

Miss John can fuck right off.

by Anonymousreply 52December 12, 2024 1:20 AM

In fact it’s already evident. THC can be bad for a lot of people.

by Anonymousreply 53December 12, 2024 1:22 AM

It would have happened already, r51. It's been in wider use for nearly 20 years.

by Anonymousreply 54December 12, 2024 1:23 AM

Of course Furnish is fucking around on Elton. I mean, can you imagine him, or anyone, being filled with lust at the thought of being sodomized by Elton John?

by Anonymousreply 55December 12, 2024 1:28 AM

EW EW EW at R34!!!!!

So far cunt Elton can have Roman Orgies with illegal male escorts, but he doesn't want ME to smoke weed?

GO FUCK YOURSELF MISS CUNTJOHN!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 56December 12, 2024 1:30 AM

r45 - strength isn't regulated, but you can choose strains with lower THC content. Of course, you may also choose to puff less.

by Anonymousreply 57December 12, 2024 1:31 AM

Miss John is such a bitchy old cunt. Thankfully, it won’t be long before she departs.

by Anonymousreply 58December 12, 2024 1:31 AM

Is that toupee an Eva Gabor wig that was trimmed on the sides? It looks like the “Lady Preakness” model or “A Day At The Races” model. It’s a shame there isn’t some blond princess to advise him on these things.

by Anonymousreply 59December 12, 2024 1:33 AM

I've been combining with CBD to calm it down, r57.

by Anonymousreply 60December 12, 2024 1:36 AM

Fucker.

by Anonymousreply 61December 12, 2024 1:59 AM

This is just another variant of retired whore finds religion, a tale as old as time.

by Anonymousreply 62December 12, 2024 2:00 AM

Addictive personality traits will find drugs. You don't become a heroine addict because you smoked weed once or took a gummy. When GHB was legal and sold in health food stores I took it ever night to sleep, and when going to the bars rather than consuming empty calories of beer. Never knew a carbohydrate could make you feel so good. Then it got banned and then scheduled because they thought some girl died on it. I quit it as soon as I could not get it, Never had withdrawals, or a burning desire to replace it. Same with Ephedra when it was sold in vitamin shopped. Then some guy had a massive heart attack because he took way to much. And it got banned. Quit it when I could no longer ger it. No withdrawals. I did Kratom for a year for a back injury, God awful taste but helped. My Injury got better and the Kratom kept me off oxy. Stopped using it when I could start lifting again. Never had a need or desire to take it again. Long Post short - if you are an addict you are an addict. Chasing a high is a addiction. Getting high of weed is a recreation. Fuck off Elton.

by Anonymousreply 63December 12, 2024 3:39 AM

You type meth, r63.

by Anonymousreply 64December 12, 2024 3:40 AM

Who’s Elton John?

by Anonymousreply 65December 12, 2024 3:43 AM

Why doesn't he call for banning alcohol? Wasn't that the substance that he really couldn't handle?

by Anonymousreply 66December 12, 2024 3:50 AM

I think it was blow and booze together. The weed was probably for sleepy time.

by Anonymousreply 67December 12, 2024 3:51 AM

I do think the commercialization of weed has been bad. For the drug dealers, and people who resent big business taking over semi-illicit industry.

by Anonymousreply 68December 12, 2024 3:57 AM

The fucked thing is that weed used to have like 20% of the THC it has now. Way "safer" 30 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 69December 12, 2024 4:03 AM

There are downsides to it, so I see somewhat where he's coming from. It's a game of Russian roulette for young people to use it due to potential mental health problems. And it's way stronger today than it used to be. And hospitals are seeing people come in with issues from smoking this stronger stuff regularly (cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome). But making it illegal has its own negatives that he doesn't address at all. There is a real human cost to the war on drugs.

And I get that it does seem like a guy who has had his fun ranting about shit that the young do and that's a bit true too. But he's a goddamn living gay legend and we don't have many of those due to AIDS, so some of these comments acting like he's a nobody are a bit much.

by Anonymousreply 70December 12, 2024 4:16 AM

[quote] No one smokes and gets behind the wheel of a car and kills people but many drink and drive and kill innocents.

Former law enforcement here. I've worked on quite a few drunk / drugged driving cases, including cases involving fatalities.

A common combination is alcohol AND marijuana / THC.

by Anonymousreply 71December 12, 2024 4:19 AM

I thought when it became legal, one could walk into a dispensary and get say 2 out of 10 strength or something similar. I thought that was one of the reasons for legalizing and regulating it.

by Anonymousreply 72December 12, 2024 4:19 AM

This is how Germany is doing it. They're capping strength as part of their overall legalization package.

by Anonymousreply 73December 12, 2024 4:21 AM

Team Madonna now

Fuck off, Elton

by Anonymousreply 74December 12, 2024 4:38 AM

Another fat, used up, useless drug addict who has hoovered up, wolfed down, injected and inhaled every drug known to man. And because serious drug addiction didn't work out for him, now wants to restrict and control what everybody else can and can't do.

He should STFU, mind his own business and do something about that awful whatever that is on his head. What a fat mincing coward.

Team Madonna always.

by Anonymousreply 75December 12, 2024 5:02 AM

Dry drunk.

by Anonymousreply 76December 12, 2024 6:21 AM

He got himself good and fucked up on every drug under the sun before weed was legal. I understand that with age wisdom supposedly comes, but I don’t buy his gripe about legalization bringing about the fall of civilization. If people want to use drugs, they’re going to find a way to procure them whether legal or not. Just like he did. Legalization helps keep people from procuring shit that’s laced with fentanyl or god knows what. He’s been around the block and now in his dotage thinks that drugs are bad and wants to play the holier-than-thou schoolmarm scold. Well whoopty do. Legalization doesn’t encourage or increase usage; it aims (and accomplishes) to make marijuana safer and to reduce costs on taxpayers from an absurd volume of court proceedings and bogus incarcerations

He’s a fossil who’s not even earned a footnote in the history of 20th century music. Why anyone would take seriously any of his crotchety public policy diatribes is beyond me.

by Anonymousreply 77December 12, 2024 6:49 AM

I'm definitely not a fan as you can tell by my posts in this thread R77 - BUT it has to be said that he is the 4th highest selling music artist in history. So he has that. He has definitely earned his place in music but he's such a miserable cunt all the time. He should just shut his massive gob and try to be gracious and kind for once. I like Elton John when he's never seen or heard from. That's the best way to experience him.

by Anonymousreply 80December 12, 2024 6:56 AM

Team Madge FTW

by Anonymousreply 81December 12, 2024 7:10 AM

R2 , (or Elton - or David?). Your MOR music is more mind-numbing.

And stop saying John Reid introduced you to drugs. He didn’t. It was just your own sleaziness, whore.

by Anonymousreply 82December 12, 2024 8:26 AM

That biopic was compelling, but man was it fast and loose with the facts/order. Not saying John Reid is a saint by any means, either. It just underlined that I'll never get too close to "greatness", because they will fuck you over so they can uphold their narrative to the public. I've watched it happen with others, and it's a special sort of sociopathy.

by Anonymousreply 83December 12, 2024 8:31 AM

Sir Elton John had just seen that documentary on the telly, Reefer Madness, and now he's seen the light: *marihuana* is the mother of all vices.

by Anonymousreply 84December 12, 2024 8:43 AM

R71, as a former law enforcement you should know that being cross-faded is very different from being stoned on just marijuana. Night and day different. So it's not really relevant to the current conversation and thank you for your service.

by Anonymousreply 85December 12, 2024 8:52 AM

Wow, that last sentence is a work of run-on art. Are you cross-fading?

by Anonymousreply 86December 12, 2024 8:54 AM

Wrong is wrong, r86. It's pretty embarrassing for a former law enforcement officer to think that being stoned is interchangeable with being drunk AND stoned.

by Anonymousreply 87December 12, 2024 8:57 AM

No, I agree with you, but you type intoxicated.

by Anonymousreply 88December 12, 2024 8:59 AM

He's a bitter cunt. Coke and pot are very different. I've known a thousand pot heads who never wanted to try harder drugs.

by Anonymousreply 92December 12, 2024 11:49 AM

I'm one of them R92. Zero interest in anything non-herbal.

Team Madonna for sure.

by Anonymousreply 93December 12, 2024 12:18 PM

This fucking bitch.

SIT. DOWN.

by Anonymousreply 94December 12, 2024 12:20 PM

Keeping it illegal is more likely to lead to other drug use, as you have to find a dealer who has a financial incentive to get you hooked on something more addictive than weed. Not to mention the illegal aspect makes it less likely someone would seek out help should they get addicted.

by Anonymousreply 95December 12, 2024 12:42 PM

Lol R94.

I concur!

by Anonymousreply 96December 12, 2024 12:43 PM

Not only does pot generally dissuade people from taking harder drugs, it is safer than most drugs, and offers actual medical benefits. Team Madonna. Fuck this asshole.

by Anonymousreply 97December 12, 2024 12:43 PM

The only addiction pot causes is an emotional addiction in some people, but not all. Whereas alcohol causes a physical addiction, in some people, but not all. If you've ever seen someone in the throes of delerium tremens from alcohol withdrawal you'll know which one is worse. Frankly, nicotine addiction is far worse than being a pot head, IMNSHO. It's right up there with alcoholism.

by Anonymousreply 98December 12, 2024 12:54 PM

Unfortunately I can't remember who, but someone once said the worst part about having a drug addiction if you're a British celeb is Elton suddenly trying to be your best friend.

by Anonymousreply 99December 12, 2024 12:56 PM

A middling comment from an overrated artist.

by Anonymousreply 103December 12, 2024 1:31 PM

I always found it funny how the story of his life, as told in Rocketman, ends with him quitting drugs... nothing of interest happens once he gets sober.

by Anonymousreply 104December 12, 2024 1:53 PM

Let me put it this way, he is sober and wears that wig. Who exactly is making bad choices?

by Anonymousreply 105December 12, 2024 1:57 PM

PLEASE. Alcohol has ALWAYS been the gateway drug. It STARTS with drinking>> then smoking fags>>THEN the marijuana which leads to the "Big fun."

by Anonymousreply 106December 12, 2024 2:05 PM

I do find him overrated. He doesn't write lyrics which is the only way I know which Elton song is playing because the music he composes sounds very similar on so many of his songs.

He sounds insufferable. He's the type who, if you don't kiss his ass, he's a raving cunt to you. He's a malignant narcissist. He does charity to insulate himself from criticism and buy goodwill.

by Anonymousreply 107December 12, 2024 2:06 PM

[quote] Always Team Madonna when it involved him.

Same. I'm a big Madonna fan that always criticizes her, but she never attacked Elton after he constantly insulted and started shit with her. He even inserted himself into that petty feud she had with Lady Gaga and publicly stated Madonna was so horrible to Gaga, bla bla bla. Why insert yourself into drama that has nothing to do with you? Stay the fuck out of it. Elton got a bit of Karma when he said Madonna's song had no choice of winning at the Golden Globes and then it won lol.

by Anonymousreply 108December 12, 2024 2:14 PM

I adore Elton, but he sounds like a major pain in the ass to know and befriend.

He even had a feud with Tina Turner.

Tina Turner!

The only other celebrity to have a feud with Tina was Ike.

Not great company, Elton.

Just his 2 cents

Take it or leave it

by Anonymousreply 110December 12, 2024 2:22 PM

This is how we leave it, dear. With ours.

"Legalization doesn’t encourage or increase usage; it aims (and accomplishes) to make marijuana safer and to reduce costs on taxpayers from an absurd volume of court proceedings and bogus incarcerations"

I'm a bigger fan of decrim. Legalization does increase usage---how could it not? Not a big deal, because I don't think weed is ruining anyone's life.

by Anonymousreply 112December 12, 2024 2:30 PM

Tammy Faye the Musical was one of the greatest mistakes of all time.

by Anonymousreply 113December 12, 2024 2:32 PM

R109, and it comes off completely one-sided. It's all Elton while Tina never really badmouthed him at all.

by Anonymousreply 114December 12, 2024 2:43 PM

I didn’t know so many DLers are drug users.

by Anonymousreply 115December 12, 2024 2:51 PM

If you drink alcohol, you are too, R115.

by Anonymousreply 116December 12, 2024 2:54 PM

[quote] If you drink alcohol, you are too,

I meant drugs drugs, not "drugs"!

by Anonymousreply 117December 12, 2024 2:56 PM

R117 is not r115.

by Anonymousreply 118December 12, 2024 3:14 PM

[quote] I didn’t know so many DLers are drug users.

Plus, I see that for some reason that they are very defensive about it.

by Anonymousreply 119December 12, 2024 3:17 PM

... or she is an impulsive Arien. Do not drink, smoke or take any drug.

I love my cannabis. Miss Elton just has an addictive personality.

by Anonymousreply 120December 12, 2024 3:17 PM

[quote[Plus, I see that for some reason that they are very defensive about it.

It's not "some reason". The reason is you're trying to marginalize people, and you know it.

by Anonymousreply 121December 12, 2024 3:19 PM

R121, that’s a good example of being very defensive about it.

by Anonymousreply 122December 12, 2024 3:33 PM

More attempts at marginalization. Yawn. Getting called out for your bullshit is not unhinged, trollerina.

by Anonymousreply 123December 12, 2024 3:39 PM

R123, you’re not unhinged, just very defensive.

by Anonymousreply 124December 12, 2024 3:45 PM

Elton flat out bullied Madonna, who never said one bad word about him in his decades long roasting of her. He got very, very nasty with her. He lied about her lipping her 2001 or 2004 tour, which YouTube videos would reveal she sang 90% live. She was often out of breath. That sullied her reputation. No matter how you feel about her that's not ok to do. He knew it was a lie. Then the ugly Golden Globes comment about her song which was critically acclaimed and was an Oscar favorite until some rule said it played 4 seconds too long into the credits. Seriously. That comment was so nasty and out of line. He can't be mad if he thinks she's a cunt because he's the Queen Cunt. After all of that, he crawls back to her a decade later saying he was wrong, she forgave him ( I wouldn't bc ppl have used his words to damage her reputation), and paid for his meal.

And the Tina Turner feud! You just know Tina smelled his toxicity and wasn't having it.

As someone said, he has an addictive personality. Others can indulge w/o fear of addiction. He's so bitter about that. He's awful.

by Anonymousreply 125December 12, 2024 6:28 PM

[quote] Let me put it this way, he is sober and wears that wig. Who exactly is making bad choices?

ROFL!

Agree 100%.

Well Ms. John, when you have hundreds of millions of dollars AND fame, you can afford a lot of distractions and comforts and pleasures other than alcohol or weed.

For the rest of us, we like to have a little indulgence from time to time because we can't go out and literally spend half a million on a shopping spree. (He does - often).

He goes in and buys 10 different colors of the same expensive sunglasses and other shit. That's not a problem though?

I like him - but sometimes he really is a fucking huge pain in the ass and has no perspective. You've got no worries when you're extremely wealthy and people kiss your ass every day in every shop and restaurant you go to.

by Anonymousreply 127December 12, 2024 8:18 PM

R125, Elton is just mad that Madonna is/was a better gay icon than he ever was.

by Anonymousreply 128December 12, 2024 8:26 PM

For you, R105.

Are you telling me David Furnish has climbed into that bed with him every night SOBER?

I like all types of men - but, let's face it, Elton would be a tough one to get through. I'd have to keep my mind on the money.

And you know what else is unhealthy Elton? OVEREATING and being a fat pig for most of your life.

by Anonymousreply 130December 12, 2024 8:32 PM

I mean, that Shriner Fez alone...

by Anonymousreply 131December 12, 2024 8:39 PM

At least he hasn't found religion, where many of these sober addicts end up.

by Anonymousreply 132December 12, 2024 8:40 PM

Lots of angry stoners here....

by Anonymousreply 133December 12, 2024 8:41 PM

I'm tired of addicts and wealthy people trying to tell everyone else what to do.

You couldn't handle it - that's YOUR problem. Don't try and prevent everyone else from having fun because you can't enjoy it in moderation.

by Anonymousreply 134December 12, 2024 8:42 PM

It really isn't a good drug for teens. But in moderation I'm sure it's no drama. Just like alcohol. Ok for teens in moderation. It's the young stoners and alchies who are destroying their lives by stunting their young brains.

by Anonymousreply 135December 12, 2024 8:43 PM

R29 George Michael also told Bono to fuck off. Bono told Geri Halliwell he wanted to save George, and she told George’s ex Kenny Goss. George then bitched to the media.

by Anonymousreply 136December 12, 2024 8:59 PM

R117 = Whoopi

by Anonymousreply 137December 12, 2024 10:19 PM

[QUOTE] Keeping it illegal is more likely to lead to other drug use, as you have to find a dealer who has a financial incentive to get you hooked on something more addictive than weed. Not to mention the illegal aspect makes it less likely someone would seek out help should they get addicted.

R95 where did you learn that from, "Go Ask Alice"? I don't think you've ever done any drugs in your life.

by Anonymousreply 138December 12, 2024 10:28 PM

Don't be surprised if we hear that Elton will be performing at the inauguration gala.

by Anonymousreply 139December 12, 2024 10:35 PM

Look - some people are going to abuse things no matter what - for either emotional issues or a genetic tendency.

Yes, we have people who have problems with it. People are addicted to food, gambling, drinking, shopping, sex, the list goes on and on.

If he says that people should be on caution should they become mentally addicted or attached to much to it? Ok. Yes.

But the other point of this is that we spent way too much money criminalizing this and way too many people sitting in prison over it. That's the other side of legalization that people forget.

by Anonymousreply 140December 12, 2024 10:42 PM

The Tina Turner feud was odd.

by Anonymousreply 141December 12, 2024 10:45 PM

If it will get you high people will find it and use it whether it's legal or not. Anyone who thinks making it, or keeping it illegal will reduce its use is a fool.

by Anonymousreply 142December 12, 2024 10:46 PM

Pot use probably prevents many from turning to harder drugs. I know people who would have to take opioids for pain, but instead use pot and it is very effective and much safer.

by Anonymousreply 143December 12, 2024 11:46 PM

well, maybe he was on drugs when he was mad at tina

by Anonymousreply 144December 12, 2024 11:52 PM

R144 No, he’s just a raving cunt

by Anonymousreply 145December 12, 2024 11:53 PM

He's right. It's turning everybody into a bunch of lazy, unmotivated zombies! It kills your testosterone. You become another gynecomastic, 44 inch waist whiny victim.

by Anonymousreply 146December 13, 2024 12:18 AM

He's had more feuds than Nicki Minaj.

by Anonymousreply 147December 13, 2024 12:19 AM

R144 you confuse me. I thought Tina is a drug.

by Anonymousreply 148December 13, 2024 12:34 AM

He's sick and grouchy. He really made a thing of the Devil Wears Prada premiere in London last week, which he got Anna Wintour to attend. Anyway, he said afterward that his eyesight is pretty much gone and he couldn't, literally, see the show and could only hear it. He also has said previously that he's in treatment for cancer. He was already a bit of a raving bitch, so the cranky must be turned up to 11 now. I'd be surprised if he lasts 5 more years.

by Anonymousreply 149December 13, 2024 3:40 AM

Tina is a drug (meth). But Tina is also world-renown performer and entertainer Tina Turner.

by Anonymousreply 150December 13, 2024 3:45 AM

I never thought of it that way, but he really did bully Madonna. She never uttered one negative word about him even though he said things which, as was pointed out, hurt her reputation and his comments widely used as facts. In fact, she only said very nice things about him. This was all over her turning down his request to sing at his wedding. That’s all. Privately, if Madonna was cunty to some, she was reportedly never cunty to him. She was chummy with all his friends like Sting and George Michael. I can’t remember who it was in my life at the time, but they didn’t care much for Madonna, didn’t dislike her though, but the Golden Globes remark was their breaking point with Elton’s nastiness towards her. They cheered so loudly when she won for Best Song. It was either my ex or his mother. Whoever said it upthread, but he lied about her. That’s what makes it so nasty and gross.

Anyhoo, I despise those with addictive personalities. They ruin shit for the rest of us who can hold our own, have fun, indulge, and not have it take over our lives. I took Vicodin for 5 straight years after an accident (insurance wouldn’t pay for an MRI- seriously- until my arms started going numb), but once I had surgery and healed, I weaned off in 6 weeks very easily.

by Anonymousreply 151December 13, 2024 5:02 AM

He's old and irrelevant.

by Anonymousreply 152December 13, 2024 5:06 AM

He's lashing out because he doesn't feel well but marijuana is a dumb thing to complain about.

by Anonymousreply 153December 13, 2024 5:50 AM

I needed to review the whole 2012 Golden Globes situ, so I'm sharing this link going over it all to be...ya know....nice or something.

[quote] He's right. It's turning everybody into a bunch of lazy, unmotivated zombies! It kills your testosterone. You become another gynecomastic, 44 inch waist whiny victim.

Hmm.

But Elton is also lazy, unmotivated, has no testosterone, and gynecomastia with a 44+ inch waist.

So what's HIS excuse, if he's not smoking pot?

by Anonymousreply 158December 13, 2024 9:31 AM

So maybe don't smoke it, then. You could easily call the legalisation of alcohol one of the greatest mistakes of all time as well.

I've never smoked a joint in my life, nor do I have any interest in ever doing so, but if others want to - I don't give a fuck. I know plenty of people take it for medicinal reasons, so if it helps them I fail to see the issue.

by Anonymousreply 159December 13, 2024 10:03 AM

I guess you missed school on they day they taught what happened during the 13 years of Prohibition in the United States. It caused a massive spike in organised crime, corruption, and illness due to all the underground activity, so they ended up repealing the ban on alcohol.

R154 There was never a feud. He bulled her. I had forgotten how David Furnish embarrassingly got involved. That was cringe. Their comments and reactions were worse than I remember. Thank you for the article.

by Anonymousreply 161December 13, 2024 11:51 AM

Elton is a controlling hypocrite. He really tried to se) that fake vax for Gates, the Dems and Dumpy and Must. He is also sick from it, so he says.

Go talk about the fake shots, greedy.

by Anonymousreply 163December 13, 2024 1:55 PM

Him playing at Rush Limbaugh's wedding tells you all you truly need to know about this POS. Madonna, for all her warts, would never. Team Madonna, too.

by Anonymousreply 164December 13, 2024 1:56 PM

R163, that is the only logical explanation.

by Anonymousreply 165December 13, 2024 1:58 PM

R164, Elton seems to be very attracted to shitty right wingers and./or people who demonstrate homophobic behavior. I know Eminem has grown but Elton was eager to duet with him. And Toxic Shock got a selfie with him. And I think he was eager to duet with Axl Rose too (I love GNR but Axl definitely had some regressive views).

by Anonymousreply 166December 13, 2024 1:59 PM

Sebastian Bach of Skid Row fame, who famously wore the " Aids kills fags dead" shirt is now a huge Democrat and absolutely demolishes his maga fans on Twitter. He goes after them with abandon and it's glorious.

Elton will probably want to play for the upcoming inauguration.

by Anonymousreply 167December 13, 2024 2:09 PM

R166 - agreed - he fucking sang at Rush Limbaugh's 3rd or 4th 'wedding'. Among many other dalliances with homophobes and right wingers.

Don't give me that shit about 'it's just music' and how we need to reach across to the other side. No - they don't do the same and they prey on our good behaviors.

Alcohol does so much more damage to a person's body than marijuana. You want to talk about gateway drugs - the original is alcohol.

And watch Tantrums and Tiaras on YouTube - yes it's 25 years old, but he's a screeching nightmare and rude to his staff. So much for being sober and AA.

by Anonymousreply 168December 13, 2024 3:56 PM

heard Elton John may be opening a toupee/wig salon in London... it will feature merchandise with the most innovative designs and features... all at very attractive prices!

by Anonymousreply 169December 22, 2024 8:09 AM

Who the hell elected this Kweeeeeen to dictate what anyone else chooses to do? I don't remember voting for him.
