Hysteria on Peacock

Check it out if you're a Bruce Campbell fan. Set in the 80s during the Satanic Panic and heavy metal witchhunt.

Watched it when it came out and enjoyed it a lot! Love how it kept you guessing whether the supernatural was real or not. And honestly, I'm still not sure which side it took at the very end. Normally that bothers me (see: Evil) but weirdly enough not here. Except maybe the collective rash thing, that could have been explained better.

Also, Emjay Anthony is so damn charismatic, I haven't been this inspired by young talent since Aidan Gallagher in the first season of The Umbrella Academy. He was so natural and likeable in this, I just wanted to be his friend. He worked with Toni Collette previously on Krampus.

They did drop the ball on the rash and the supposed earthquake. My guess was the rash was due to some environmental issue that started after the earthquake which may not have been an earthquake at all.

The other subject was if the hot blonde chick was or wasn't a true acolyte.

The state of aesthetics and informed criticism today.

Literally proving my point about you from that other thread just now – zero input of your own, just shitting on other posters 24/7. That's your entire personality, it seems.

r3 Well, lucky that I'm not a professional critic, then! 😊

I enjoyed it too but also it felt a bit rushed in parts and slow in others. I really liked the lead boy too but his friends not so much. And Julie Bowen was great! Will there be a season 2?

I had the villain fingered from the start. Not too surprising though considering what we know of those types.

Hey R4 - thanks for the heads-up!. I blocked R3 on the Jose de la Torre thread you called him out on. My Christmas will be a bit brighter because of you.

Lucky for all of us, R1. At least you're satisfied with nattering for your own benefit. Baa. 😊
