R7 That's what I thought but turns out Peggy Lipton was only 4 years younger. R8 is right he was a dud but at the time having a mixed race cast was edgy and baby boomer catnip.

Michael Cole was famous in Australia for a long time after Mod Squad for this performance on live TV in 1973.
I note the comments suggest he was drunk, but the word at the time was that weed was the main issue.
