Oh, fuck. Mouseboy is going to win the Oscar isn't he?
The Academy loves biopics and would probably like to avoid giving Adrien Brody two Oscars and make him the new Hilary Swank: talented but unmarketable.
I thought they would veer toward Daniel Craig as the alternative to Brody but Chalamet's film isn't gay as fuck so the dinosaurs at the Academy won't get offended at being forced to watch it.

Giving Mouseboy the Oscar would also give the Academy Gen Z cred. (Especially if Ariana Grande also wins that night.)

If Best Actor was as competitive as Best Actress this year, they would throw his "oscar bait look at me I'm acting snl skit" in the trash. The Academy will lose all respect and credibility if they reward him with either a nomination or win.

His performance is getting good reviews but the film itself is not. That rarely helps the prospects of acting nominees.

They don't love music biopics for "Best Actor" unreservedly, OP.

Nominated or not he is a versatile actor, very entertaining however as good as his performance is he is to young to win just like the guy in Elvis , however the actor who portrayed Mercury did win an Oscar was a gay character and young , so who knows I could be wrong.

I think it’s more likely to go to Brody, Craig, or Fiennes

I’ve actually seen A Complete Unknown and Timothée is absolutely fantastic in it (and I’m not some deranged stan of his).
There is a scene less than ten minutes into the film with him as Dylan opposite Scoot McNairy’s Woody Guthrie and Edward Norton’s Pete Seeger where Chalamet transforms into Bob Dylan right in front of your eyes. And it never drops.
Very Oscar-worthy performance. The movie is a real crowd-pleaser too. I can see it being a hit in theaters.

R1 Ariana Grande is not Gen Z. She is thirty something. Or do you just mean her influence with that generation.

It's weird how men under 30 rarely win Oscars while young females win all the time. Are the geezers in the Academy jealous of young guys?

DL truly is full of unhappy disgruntled people who truly cannot cope with talent, achievement and of course success. It has to be because they are so unhappy with themselves or in their lives.

I already have an honorary from '32 and a competitive one in 1942, friend. Makes sense for someone else to win, and I'm sure deserve it.
But please tone down your language. My nephews are right here.

R13 I actually think that plays apart if it. But I also think it’s a 2 way street. I feel like in male culture it’s all about respect. So the guys voting, are going to encompass who has the most respect in the industry rather than just the merit of the individual performances. As a culture we love young women. So any great actress that’s also young has an advantage.

The mouseboy/ratboy troll is obviously completely obsessed with this actor and since he will never, ever have him, needs to drag him through the mud on the board every chance he can get.
It’s not tedious and mortifying … at all!

Timmy is 28 right now, and will turn 29 on December 27.
So he's right in that same age group.
Perfect timing for an Academy Award!
