With the hollowed-out way some celebs are looking, I'd say: Stick to carrots and exercising!

I'd still rather lose weight through diet and exercise.

by Anonymousreply 4December 10, 2024 1:23 PM

r4 why?

by Anonymousreply 5December 10, 2024 1:28 PM

I’ve read about how people endure vomiting and diarrhea while injecting this drug.

I’m guessing it very difficult to exercise regularly, if one is constantly nauseous, vomiting, & running to the bathroom.

by Anonymousreply 6December 10, 2024 1:57 PM

Good point r6

by Anonymousreply 7December 14, 2024 11:45 PM

Amy Schumer had said the nausea and vomiting made her go off it because she couldn't be there for her kids feeling like that

by Anonymousreply 8December 14, 2024 11:46 PM

I’m on it for diabetes and am not sick ever. I eat a healthy diet with no sweets and almost no carbs though. I have read if you eat crap and take it you’ll be sick.

by Anonymousreply 9December 14, 2024 11:48 PM

When I learned about Ozempic Breath and its cause I decided it's not for me

"“Ozempic breath” is the term coined for a fishy malodorous smell in one’s burps or an overall experience of unwanted bad breath. (Ozempic is not the only GLP-1 medication that is known to do this; some patients on Mounjaro or Zepbound also notice changes in the smell of their breath and burps.)

What causes Ozempic breath?

There is no official consensus that changes in breath, such as halitosis, are a side effect of these medications, but that does not mean that it does not exist. The decrease in gastric emptying that happens as a result of the GLP-1 medications can lead to food breaking down and fermenting in the stomach, causing malodorous burps and bad breath that can be noticeably unpleasant."

Aka rotting food in your gut breath

🤮

by Anonymousreply 11December 15, 2024 12:17 AM

Ive got a couple of friends on it. One a long term type 2 diabetic and the other was pre-diabetic with a lot of other health issues. They've both done well on it. The diabetic has lost a lot of weight and got off insulin. The other has not lost any weight but her latest blood test saw all her numbers back in the healthy range, and that's been amazing. Despite doing the rounds of specialists, physio, gym sessions with a physiologist, dieticians etc her health was in rapid decline and she thought she was going the same way as her mother who died at 63 from a similar health decline.

by Anonymousreply 12December 15, 2024 12:18 AM

I might go on a GLP-1 Agonist like Ozempic if the current research on treating or preventing Alzheimer's pans out. My mom has dementia and bad breath might be a small price to pay.

As the thread has proven, fit-fat is hot.

However, skinny-fat or skinny-flabby, where you're thin, but not fit with no muscle tone will be unattractive out of clothes.

by Anonymousreply 14December 15, 2024 12:48 AM

R5 I'm not R4, but it's simple. There's a thing called skinny-fat, and that's what ozempic leaves you with. Diet and exercise keeps visceral fat and subcutaneous fat low, and muscle mass high.

No one survives Ozempic-face. I have a close relative, my favorite cousin tbh, she started her 40s looking like late 20s, early 30s, full face (she was terribly overweight, not something she could control having a rare type of muscular dystrophy, MCT). She's physically much better off having used ozempic, but facially, she hit the wall going 50 and her face is paying for her arse.

by Anonymousreply 15December 15, 2024 1:04 AM

Doesn't it make you shit constantly?

by Anonymousreply 16December 15, 2024 1:06 AM

CMT (Charcot Marie Tooth) , not MCT

by Anonymousreply 17December 15, 2024 1:09 AM

I lost 60 pounds over one year on Wellbutrin which, for some people, has Ozempic like effects.

I actually JOINED a gym because of it - I had so much energy now - I had stayed out of them for a while, mostly because getting results was so HARD. I now have a minimal appetite and a lot of energy. So I think this conclusion is wrong. Ozempic will make people more likely to diet and exercise, because they will have more energy and seeing results will encourage them to pursue lifestyle activities they may have avoided before.

by Anonymousreply 18December 15, 2024 1:10 AM

Exercise is still the healthiest way to lose weight. Everything in moderation. What is so hard to grasp about that? Plus there are people with diabetes who legitimately need this drug and are having to duke it out with people who are just using it out of vanity and laziness.

I have zero sympathy for most of these celebs who are using it because they have the money, time and resources to make the effort to lose weight. Instead, they're just lazy and entitled and are looking for the next quick fix.

by Anonymousreply 19December 15, 2024 1:10 AM

Shouldn't there be a caveat: "Unless you want to gain muscle mass?"

by Anonymousreply 20December 15, 2024 1:13 AM

bullshit, I began going to the gym everyday, I even paid a personal trsiner fir more than six months and I could not get rid of my belly, the flanks etc and I was only 20 pounds overweight. I’m 5’9, And weighted 190 lbs.

the gym is super very overrated, it is pretty much a marketing plot. a few of my gay friends had lipo 360 and they told me point blank, you are wasting your money!!! nowadays nobody goes to the gym to have a flat stomach and get rid of handles etc. what people do is they get lipo first, then go to the gym to build muscle.

I finally had on Dec 5 my lipo 360 with abs etching, and I can already see the difference. no way, I could have achieved this look doing the bunch of squats, sit ups and all the crap that I had to endured at the gym.

by Anonymousreply 21December 15, 2024 1:21 AM

How did it kill diet and exercise? The people on it were never doing it.

by Anonymousreply 22December 15, 2024 1:22 AM

I just started it. I probably shouldn't be. I'm 5'6', and weigh 172. My goal is to get down to 150.

It's expensive...a pen with four weekly doses is about $1,000. I'm a bit of a ditz, so I've managed to screw up one my injections. That was a $250 dollar mistake.

I hear the side effects wear off in a couple of weeks. I certainly hope so. What's the point of being thin if you don't feel 100% and don't want to hang out with friends? Mostly I have slight nausea and a feeling of weight in my stomach.

Will it be worth it? Why not? I'm 67, and I need an adventure.

by Anonymousreply 23December 15, 2024 1:23 AM

[quote] Amy Schumer had said the nausea and vomiting made her go off it because she couldn't be there for her kids feeling like that

But she still found time to steal all her jokes.

by Anonymousreply 24December 15, 2024 1:28 AM

[quote] Exercise is still the healthiest way to lose weight. Everything in moderation. What is so hard to grasp about that?

If it were that easy everyone would be doing it.

by Anonymousreply 25December 15, 2024 1:30 AM

Good!

by Anonymousreply 26December 15, 2024 1:32 AM

R9. yeah, you have diabetes and you eat healthy diet ? who the fuck you kidding?

by Anonymousreply 27December 15, 2024 1:32 AM

The best part of Wellbutrin is that it is completely covered by my insurance! I don’t have to pay out of pocket!

Everyone should try Wellbutrin before paying for Ozempic. It may not work for you, but it’s worth a shot. Just tell your doctor you want to quit smoking or have Seasonal Affective Disorder.

by Anonymousreply 28December 15, 2024 1:37 AM

These drugs are great if one is:

1) Given the go ahead to use them from your medical team after undergoing labs:

2) Closely monitored by one’s physician while on them;

3) Maintaining a healthy lifestyle with a medically approved diet & regular exercise.

4) Rinse & repeat steps 2 & 3.

It’s not a mystery, but it isn’t a magic bullet, either. Some patients will be able to adhere to the requirements, while others won’t.

by Anonymousreply 29December 15, 2024 1:42 AM

[quote] "People on the drug may end up eating less across the board, while sticking to whatever diet they had before: One Pop-Tart for dinner, let’s say, instead of five."

Who can eat only one Pop-Tart per day?!!!! Well, that's worth at least $1,000 a month.

by Anonymousreply 30December 15, 2024 1:45 AM

[quote] Everyone should try Wellbutrin before paying for Ozempic. It may not work for you, but it’s worth a shot. Just tell your doctor you want to quit smoking or have Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Gurl, DL is depression central. We've tried ALL the depression meds over the last 30 years. A meal at Olive Garden gives me way more energy and fulfillment than Wellbutrin.

by Anonymousreply 31December 15, 2024 1:49 AM

R27 obviously I didn’t for a long time but when you’re diagnosed with something like that you change the way you eat.

by Anonymousreply 32December 15, 2024 1:55 AM

R24 joke theft isn't that time intensive. It isn't like you're carefully planning your route and your getaway, buying a burner phone, scrubbing prints off the doorknobs and spray-paining the surveillance cameras

by Anonymousreply 33December 15, 2024 2:02 AM

I've been on it since January, so almost a year. I've lost 40 lbs, am off blood pressure meds, my cholesterol and A1C are healthy levels, and my bodyfat is at 16%, down from 28% at my heaviest.

In addition, (and sorry for the visual) I've never been more regular in my life, with solid well-formed stools when they used to be anything but (again, sorry for the visual).

Because I'm not constantly hungry and thinking about food, my food choices are much healthier than they used to be: more fruits and vegetables, high protein, fewer sweets (I used to have a huge sweet tooth, now hardly at all).

And I've had ZERO side effects, other than the ones I just described. I'm sure the negative effects happen to some people, but not for me.

And I look better than I've looked in 20 years.

It's truly a miracle drug.

by Anonymousreply 34December 15, 2024 2:06 AM

This drug is going to put a lot of “diet” centers out of business. Good!

by Anonymousreply 35December 15, 2024 2:14 AM

R34, are you still taking it?

by Anonymousreply 36December 15, 2024 2:20 AM

R36 yes, but on a maintenance dose now. You titrate up each month, starting at (if i remember correctly) 2.5 mg, then 5, the 7.5 and so on. Now I'm back on 5 and might be for the rest of my life.

But I would have been on two blood pressure meds and possibly insulin for Type 2 diabetes instead, so it's a welcome trade off.

by Anonymousreply 37December 15, 2024 2:25 AM

Does it also curb your appetite for cock?

Because diet and exercise makes me crave dick even more.

by Anonymousreply 38December 15, 2024 2:31 AM

R17, CMT runs in my family — your mention of it is the first time I’ve heard mention of anyone who knows what it is.

by Anonymousreply 39December 15, 2024 2:40 AM

Oh I should mention I'm on tirzepatide (Monmouth/Zepbound), not Ozempic (semaglutide).

by Anonymousreply 40December 15, 2024 2:44 AM

Isn't exercise necessary for heart health?

by Anonymousreply 41December 15, 2024 2:45 AM

Jesus, I meant Monjouro, not Monmouth. Fucking autocorrect.

by Anonymousreply 42December 15, 2024 2:51 AM

If you want to exercise while on Ozempic, go ahead and exercise. It has benefits for your health other than losing weight, and the drug isn't going to stop you doing it or make it harder for you to do it. What it WILL do is kill those food cravings which will undo the benefits of the exercise so far as weight loss is concerned.

Now that people have more or less gotten on board with PreP it's good that there's another useful medication for the DL luddite puritan hysterics to rant at. What they're really angry at isn't the drug but people for wanting things that people want.

by Anonymousreply 43December 15, 2024 3:12 AM

I always was hoping for a Sleep Diet like Jennifer North in VOTD

by Anonymousreply 44December 15, 2024 3:22 AM

R43, you really hit the nail on the head.

by Anonymousreply 45December 15, 2024 6:23 PM

What exercise? The reason why these lazy cunts are fat in the first place is because they don't exercise and they eat shit. They always take short cuts....this is just another quick fix for them

by Anonymousreply 46December 16, 2024 12:33 AM

R46, you’re so wrong.

by Anonymousreply 47December 16, 2024 12:45 AM

what about peptides such as sermoreline, tesamoreline and ipamorelin? are they also as good for weight lose as ozempic?

by Anonymousreply 48December 19, 2024 11:20 PM

The fatsos were never going to do diet and exercise for any length of time anyway. Those of us who enjoy eating well and exercise do it for many reasons besides keeping healthy and inshape, not least of which is simply valuing/safeguarding your body and health.

by Anonymousreply 49December 19, 2024 11:32 PM

People like R49 never get cancer or suffer from any health-related issues.

by Anonymousreply 50December 20, 2024 2:32 AM

R50, only the fat, dumb and stupid like you get cancer. We are talking about FAT people not cancer or any other health=related issues.

by Anonymousreply 51December 20, 2024 11:25 AM

Realty? I'm on Ozempiic, Weight Watchers, and go to Planet Fitness daily.

by Anonymousreply 52December 20, 2024 11:36 AM

A little off-topic: A dear friend who is morbidly obese and has struggled with his weight forever, started a medically supervised, graduated use of Wegovy more than a year and a half ago. I don't see him often, and when I do, I secretly expect to see some kind of transformation. Well, other than a small change in the size of his *neck*, of all things nada. Nothing. No change. We met for lunch earlier this week at a bistro/bakery and he noshed and drank with abandon. I don't get it. He almost skipped Thanksgiving because I guess Thursday is his injection day and he was feeling nauseous. Why keep injecting something if it clearly isn't making a difference? His work covers most of the tab, I think.

by Anonymousreply 53December 20, 2024 12:18 PM

I am r4, above.

Part of the reason I'd prefer to lose weight via diet and exercise is that my weight has always been linked to my depression. When I am depressed, I overeat and gain weight. It's been my pattern since I was 12 and suffered from my first serious bout with depression. Then when I come out of my depression, I eat healthy again, work out, and lose the weight.

My eating and weight are symptoms of a deeper problem.

Relatedly, I think I fear losing the ability to self-medicate with food when I am depressed. It might not be healthy, but when I'm in my darkest moments, food offers pretty much the only respite from despair, however fleeting and counterproductive (because then I become depressed about gaining weight).

And yes, I have tried to overcome my depression since I was a teenager and tried everything under the sun to mitigate it -- meds of all kinds, therapy, quitting drugs and alcohol, meditation, exercise, etc. It's been a long fucking battle. At this point, it seems my best option is to tolerate it as best I can and wait for the depressive episodes to pass.
