The couple who run PinkNews, the world's largest LGBT news website, have been accused by staff of multiple incidents of sexual misconduct. I wouldn't have an issue if they were ruggedly handsome but these two....FUGs.
Omg is every fucking person in power a sexual predator. Does having money and power just make you constantly have to bust a nut or get your pussy wet.

I guess calling it penis news really was appropriate.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 10, 2024 6:25 AM |
The main accuser in that article, Stephan, is a transman, i.e. female. Pink News has been a huge trans propaganda medium but has recently tried to shift away from that as it's been rapidly losing advertising income as people in the UK start to realise what a scam the trans cult is. The many trans staff at Pink News have been trying to rebel and hit back at Benjamin Cohen, so I wonder if this is part of that. Of course, no one should be sexually assaulted but it is inaccurate of the BBC to refer to Stephan Kyriakou as a "younger male employee", so let's see how this plays out.

Thank you, R3. There's clearly more to the story. The DL loves to jump to conclusions at the drop of a hat.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 10, 2024 6:36 AM |
I just watched the report on iPlayer. Over 20 people came forward. They've been dumping info on the skeezy CEO and his husband on Twitter for months. This isn't a trans thing, as much as you'd like it to be. If the government-funded BBC ran this, then it's been vetted six ways to Sunday.

Correct, and regulated by Ofcom. The last thing they need is to be smacked hard by a regulator for bad reporting.

by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 10, 2024 7:41 AM |
The reporter says in the iPlayer video that he pinged some of the accounts talking about this on Twitter to get the ball rolling.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 10, 2024 7:44 AM |
R5, I'm not doubting that Benjamin Cohen is a sleazebag and he may well have assaulted Stephan Kyriakou. But Stephan Kyriakou is a female, not a "younger male employee", as the BBC described her. And, yes, the trans have been out for Cohen for a while, once he started trying to escape from them. There was even a Pink News Twitter "whistleblower" account with a strong trans angle.
From September:
[quote]Leading LGBTQ+ publisher Pink News says it is considering legal action against a “whistleblower” Twitter account devoted to publishing criticism of the way the brand is run.
[quote]The account, Pink News Whistleblowers, has garnered thousands of retweets and more than 6,000 followers for posts which have included leaked recordings from what appear to be high-level company meetings. Last week the account disappeared from Twitter.
And
[quote]Asked why it launched its campaign, a source at the Pink News Whistleblowers account said they did not feel Pink News was advocating sufficiently well for “important LGBTQ+ issues, especially the trans community”.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 10, 2024 7:53 AM |
From August:
[quote]In a bombshell leak from @PinkNewsStaff on X, Pink News' CEO Benjamin Cohen has been recorded signalling his intent to abandon the trans community to instead focus on being an “entertainment powerhouse”.
[quote]In the leaked recording Benjamin is captured stating "We have to be careful." "It's the role of others to change narratives", going on to further say that covering transgender issues will cause them to lose advertisers.

The story is about bad employment practice, which is clearly evidenced. Your agenda is transparent and of little interest. 🚫
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 10, 2024 8:01 AM |
For those not watching: r3 is also r11 and r12, so it's clear they're pushing some agenda here against trans people.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 10, 2024 8:04 AM |
R14, my "agenda" is to point out that the trans have been out to get Benjamin Cohen once he realised they were only dragging him down. Stephan Kyriakou is a trans-identified female, not a male. Even so, assault of anyone in the workplace should be taken seriously. At the same time, context needs to be added. Moreover, nothing has been "evidenced", only allegations made.
Not sure why you're complaining that I'm pointing out that the trans have been accusing Cohen of bad employment practices, if you care about challenging bad employment practices.
By the way, sexual assault is something more than bad employment practice.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 10, 2024 8:08 AM |
Sure, Jan. I'll take a pass on your word salad. You're drawing attention to the wrong issue and know exactly what you're doing.
[quote] Stephan Kyriakou is a trans-identified female, not a male.
The BBC article uses "he". Again, you know exactly what you're doing.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 10, 2024 8:13 AM |
The BBC article uses the word he because it's been institutionally captured and refers to trans-identified people by their "chosen" pronouns. In this instance it's referring to a female as he.
Yes, I know exactly what I'm doing, I'm pointing out that the person the BBC article refers to as "he" and "male" is in fact a female.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 10, 2024 8:41 AM |
You're also revealing you lied when you said you had no agenda.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 10, 2024 8:43 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 10, 2024 8:47 AM |
What is my "agenda" in your opinion, r19?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 10, 2024 8:49 AM |
By the way, the full extent of Stephan's alleged assault was being slapped on the bottom by Cohen in front of everyone else at a Christmas party.
As for the other allegations of a bad work culture at Pink News, the trans have been making such "revelations" and "whistleblowing" for a few months now, ever since Cohen started trying to shift away from so much trans coverage because it was making the site lose advertising revenue.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 10, 2024 8:51 AM |
We're done. R20. I'm not conversing with you any further and am confident anyone who reads this post will see what's going on here. Go kite someone else. You've been exposed for what you are.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 10, 2024 8:53 AM |
R19, that article is by "Josh Parry LGBT & identity reporter". Having things such as an "identity reporter" is precisely why the BBC is also finding itself in so much trouble these days. I'm also not sure to what extent a man such as Josh has especial authority to cover lesbian issues.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 10, 2024 8:55 AM |
[quote]By the way, the full extent of Stephan's alleged assault was being slapped on the bottom by Cohen in front of everyone else at a Christmas party.
Conveniently missed the part where Cohen's husband was repeatedly pressuring people to go home with him while intoxicated, most of them junior employees? If you don't understand the abuse of power there, that's evidence you may not know what workplace harassment is.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 10, 2024 8:56 AM |
Identity reporter or not, the BBC has editorial standards that they follow which would have been applied to the article. It's clear you don't know how any of this works. And nobody but the Farage crowd and Clarkson are whinging about the BBC, mostly because they've been held to account by them and have an agenda to alt-right the UK like the US has done.
I guess you also hate their fantastic disability coverage, too, r23. Best representation of disabled people in the world.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 10, 2024 9:00 AM |
R24, conveniently misses the part where it's stated that "the full extent of Stephan's alleged assault was being slapped on the bottom by Cohen", which is not the same as saying "the full extent of all the alleged sexual assaults made in the article and by all the complainants". Other than that, I couldn't give a shit about the execrable Benjamin Cohen and his husband. I just find it an interesting coincidence that the primarily trans employees at Pink News are finding all these things to complain about, when they never previously complained, at a time when Pink News is trying to reduce its trans coverage,
The standard the BBC applies when reporting on articles involving trans, r25, is simply to use their "chosen" pronouns. I never "whinged" about the BBC. You're the one trying to divert the focus by claiming that the BBC is "authoritative" and "has standards" and hence, in your opinion, everything it publishes is 100% perfect.
Since you have so much confidence in the BBC, its authority and its standards, perhaps you could explain why the trans went absolutely batshit when this article was published.

A lot of people are not rational. That's not to say they aren't functional. There are non-rational high-functioning people. They start businesses, become successful, get power over others, and then their irrationality shows up, and starts grabbing the ass of their employee and risking a law suit.

Shouldn't the guy who was 'too drunk to consent' be the one to make the allegations and not several people who 'saw something behind the tree' and then started gossiping about it?
It could be true - it could also be true that someone saw this and wanted to spread gossip and tear down the exec.
And a drunken slap on the bottom at a Christmas party is now worthy of a mental breakdown and trust issues?
Seems like there's a massive intersection of Gen Z unrealistic workplace expectations coupled with being offended by everything as a power move.
And saying they have a hard drinking culture in the UK is redundant. The UK is known for this - it's not special at this workplace.

by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 10, 2024 5:25 PM |
One more thing since most of you can't see the iPlayer video: They say the culture change came when they focused purely in clicks and money instead of their hugely-touted ideals, which came for all tech companies when interest rates rose and the free financing ended a few years ago. This happened across tech. The idealistic party ended with inflation and interest rises, and these fantastic workplaces turned into total hellholes. The former employees said it was a pressure-driven environment soaked in alcohol, and it resulted in people's mental health deteriorating and a revolving door of employees. It has nothing to do with trans issues.

They've issued a statement:
It read: "In August, we made a criminal complaint to the police in relation to alleged offences committed against us that are connected with these recent reports.
"As we told the BBC prior to its initial broadcast, a police investigation was ongoing and we were advised not to make a comment.
"We are now aware that devices had been seized with forensic investigations continuing."
The statement added: "Despite the BBC being aware of the police investigation, it chose to broadcast and misled the public about our response. We have consulted lawyers in respect of these false, inconsistent and malicious allegations.
"We had explained to the BBC, that the stage of the police investigation meant that it was not possible for us to comment on the specific allegations even though they were strenuously denied."
More than 10 more former staff have since come forward to the BBC to share their experiences at PinkNews since the report was published last week.
