Jack Depp, the 22-year-old son of Johnny Depp, has been working as a bartender at a Lebanese restaurant in Paris, though he has since taken a break from the gig, according to a report from The Daily Mail.
The outlet reported on Saturday, Dec. 7, that Johnny's son has been quietly working at restaurant L'Area as both a bartender and in the location's downstairs kitchen.
Owner Edouard Chueke told The Daily Mail that Jack had been working at L'Area for two years before leaving recently. He said he expects Jack to return sometime next year.
"Jack is a great guy. He keeps out of the limelight, but worked here behind the bar and in the kitchen," Chueke said. "He was a good employee, he left a few months ago, but I expect him back later next year. Good staff are hard to find."
Chueke added that the restaurant is "very popular with the fashion and music crowd," with Jack's mother Vanessa Paradis and sister Lily-Rose Depp being "regulars."
"Lily was mixing caipirinhas behind the bar and really getting into the swing of it, she was enjoying herself," the owner said.
Johnny shares both Jack and Lily-Rose with Paradis. The pair were together for 14 years before their split in 2012.
Paradis previously explained to Belgium's Weekend Knack magazine in 2007 why she chose to raise Jack near her hometown after welcoming her son in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, five years earlier.
"For my children I secretly choose France. Even though Los Angeles is great too," she said at the time. “Only, in the south of France you can live much more anonymously. And that's a bliss, especially when the children are still young."
Jack has stayed relatively out of the spotlight. In 2014, his dad told The Philippine Daily Inquirer that Jack was not interested in following in his on-screen footsteps. “Aside from school plays and things, he hasn’t shown any desire to become an actor. Whew," Johnny said.
While promoting The Idol in a 2022 interview with ELLE, Lily Rose also shared some rare insight into her relationship with her younger brother, revealing that they were "super close" and spending time at home together between work.
Lily Rose revealed in an interview with Interview magazine this month that her brother was "the coolest person ever" while speaking with Natalie Portman about the vampire horror film Nosferatu.
"This one in particular was big for me, because my brother and I both were super obsessed with Dracula when we were younger. My brother used to dress up like Dracula when he was a kid for school," Lily-Rose recalled.
"I was like, 'Wow, if I get this part my brother’s going to finally think I’m cool,' " she added. "... It’s the classic thing of when you have a younger sibling, they think you’re so cool when you’re kids, and then when you get older, now I think he’s so cool, and I’m like, 'Let’s hang!' And he’s like, 'I’m busy.' But yeah, I think I got some points with this one."
