r3 Communities of color are disproportionately impacted by violent crime. This man made that his campaign focus. A lot of voters in these communities see the Democrats as weak on crime and they're tired. I don't think high-earning, White liberal elites, who mostly vote Democrat, will be able to win those voters back by ignoring that. It's extremely important to those who have lived in these areas and personally been affected by this oversight.
This was from 3 years ago in MN. Communities of color can't afford a weak on crime leader. And if they perceive the current leader to be exactly that, they will choose the opponent if for no other reason than to try something new in hopes of things changing for the better. That's what happens when you feel like you have nothing else to lose.
