Unlikely Christmas Movies

Name a Christmas movie you watch every year that most people would not consider a “Christmas movie.”

I’ll nominate “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.”

There are a few Christmas scenes in LA Confidential. Kim Basinger and Russell Crowe meet in a liquor store during Christmas time. Kim pegs him as a cop, even though he's not in uniform.

Another scene where Russell Crowe goes to a wife-beater's house and drags the decorative Santa in sleigh off the roof.

Then, Russell Crowe ends up beating up Kim Basinger and they ride into the sunset together.

“Less Than Zero.”

It’s the definitive GenX Christmas movie.

Spacey is disturbingly good as a twink-killer in “Midnight.”

I saw “Midnight” on opening day in 1997. I remember being so disappointed in the movie.

Years later, it has its charms. But the straight love interest for John Kelso needed to be cut.
