It takes a strikingly handsome guy to truly pull it off. I know a hairstylist in New York with long, blonde hair that gives off Brad Pitt surfer vibes, and it looks absolutely incredible on him. He has prettier hair than his female clients. That said, most men tend to suit shorter styles better overall.

Pitt, Jason Momoa, Keanu Reeves, Jared Leto, Chris Hemsworth, young Johnny Depp, Viggo Mortensen, Dev Patel, Kurt Cobain, Kit Harington, Harry Styles all arguably look better with long hair. Of course most of these men are handsome to begin with so that works in their favor.

Yes. I have seen one handsome gay man whose shoulder length hair somehow didn't look bad at all. The others not.

Of a fair number of hippieish straight or mostly straight men, I will say a very few fall somewhere between not bad at all and quite good, actually.
