I was just wondering this myself last week! Your first thought is going to always be "Taco pings from outer space." But then again, he was a flamboyant European guy, and a lot of men wore make up in the 80s. It was theatrical. Like Old Hollywood. Bowie played with makeup. Falco occasionally did a blush or a gloss. Rudolph Valentino, Charlie Chaplin, Nuryev, Nijinsky, Baryshnikov. I see his look and (Bowie's and Falco's) during this era as an homage to the silent film era.

I remember him my goodness! That homosexual that did that song about Ritz crackers!
