Hi FCI, great intro! Sorry, if I had known you were going to start the next thread I would have deferred. I did go into hiding and stopped watching all media, esp social media. But I realized I can’t do this (the next four years) without support. So my hibernation was short-lived.

However, I’m done with mainstream media. They legitimized Dump and the result is this disaster of a government we will have come Jan. 20.

FCI, most of my savings is tied up in stock/IRAs, so it’s not easy to get to.

At least I gave the option of cashing some of that out. MILLIONS of people- many on here - don’t have any savings.

For example, I have the same car I bought at 22- that's 15+ years. I splurge every now and then, but I want to be able to live at least a year with no job and not lose my standard of living.

Y’all. The stress and overwhelm is so high, plus the paranoia. I’ve barely been on this site because I don’t even know what’s safe anymore. Like who will be next on their “hit list” of targets? First it was women, now it’s going to be immigrants….then who? I was *extremely* outspoken in the past and an activist. Now????? I barely engage in any facet of society, AND I can’t escape it, no matter where I go. I don’t want to be reminded of it, but unless I throw my phone into a trash can, it’s *impossible* to avoid the news. And it terrifies me over and over again. And TMI, but I already have C-PTSD, had an incredible therapist for the last year until recently. But I started to feel like she was gaslighting me, like she might be RW too, so I had to stop seeing her.

Thanks for listening. Knowing this place is still standing is literally one of the last threads of joy I have currently. I’m an American in the US, but my Canadian citizenship just came through according to my immigration attorney. (No official letter yet since all the Canada postal workers are on strike.

I had a dear friend, may he RIP, who was just starting college in Prague when WW2 started, and his years in the resistance began, and his advice was to just have faith. I’m completely traumatized by the fall of the US also, but without hope it becomes impossible to fight.
