AOC in 2028

Move over Kamala...

Yeah, we know.

The country has moved to the right. Get ready to just be tolerated again thanks to the trans mafia taking things to the extreme.

If we win in 2028 it’s with a white male between 45-65, Christian and very vanilla. It’s the only way we get the blue wall back.

Bill Clinton is right. The first female President will be a conservative.

by Anonymousreply 2December 6, 2024 2:21 AM

Good grief. The NYC media never learns. How would the woman ever get the center or the swing states?

by Anonymousreply 3December 6, 2024 2:22 AM

She would get crushed like Dukakis.

by Anonymousreply 4December 6, 2024 2:24 AM

A progressive will never be elected POTUS.

AOC is an annoying twat who mainly gets media attention because she slightly more attractive than most female politicians.

by Anonymousreply 5December 6, 2024 2:29 AM

She is too young & needs a bigger position. She could get the Senate seat first.

As for the US moving to the right, things can change. In 2004, Bush was re-elected & won the popular vote (by more than Trump).

In 2006, Dems had a huge victory in Congress. In 2008, Obama was elected President.

by Anonymousreply 6December 6, 2024 2:33 AM

Lifelong N.Y. Democrat and I stand behind no one in my hatred for Trump, but count me among the MANY thousands who will also NEVER vote for AOC. Stop the fucking delusion.

by Anonymousreply 7December 6, 2024 2:33 AM

NEWSFLASH------->> We won't elect a woman for the White House. And I say that as a 2008 and 2016 Hillary voter.

by Anonymousreply 8December 6, 2024 2:33 AM

Compared to HRC, AOC seems like Airhead of the Century.

by Anonymousreply 9December 6, 2024 2:36 AM
Good grief. The NYC media never learns. How would the woman ever get the center or the swing states?

The media in general is dumb to push her. She wouldn't be able to appeal to swing state voters. A few years back, Elissa Slotkin was on David Axlerod's podcast The Axe Files. Slotkin talked about having issues with a Congressperson from the Bronx. She didn't say AOC by name. Slotkin said that the Bronx Congressperson acted her like constituents were more important than Slotkin's mid Michigan constituents. Slotkin she confronted her colleague and told the person that her constituents deserve representation in Congress just as much as the other person's Bronx constituents. After I heard that podcast, I lost all respect for AOC.

by Anonymousreply 10December 6, 2024 2:36 AM

I don't actually believe we won't elect a woman--I just wouldn't put it past the Republicans to put a woman into office first. But this incredible delusion of the left is why I lose faith in Democratic leadership. AOC is an urban girl. She gets cities. The president will have to do more than that.

by Anonymousreply 11December 6, 2024 2:37 AM
She is too young & needs a bigger position. She could get the Senate seat first.

She won't win a US senate seat in NY.

by Anonymousreply 12December 6, 2024 2:37 AM

We need a Gavin Newsome. Someone who looks like Michael Douglas in Wallstreet who is not afraid to whip it out and slam it on the table at Fox News. The Democratic party needs to get out of it's own way as well. Look what they did to Katie Porter in California because Schiff decided he wanted to be a senator.

by Anonymousreply 13December 6, 2024 2:39 AM

If Gavin Newsom wasn't from California he would be an ideal POTUS candidate.

Are there any midwestern or southern slick sociopath Democrats who could be viable candidates for 2028?

Gretchen Whitmer is probably a sociopath and could be an ideal VP for a sociopath POTUS candidate like Newsom.

by Anonymousreply 14December 6, 2024 2:44 AM

She would be a great candidate in a primary if only because I want a wide field to choose from, and she does have a way of being able to make kitchen table issues relatable, in a way similar to Elizabeth Warren, but with a younger vibe. She turns way too many people off to be viable, but those she turns on she turns ON.

She's at best probably little more than a wannabe Kucinich, but he always added to the debates, the same way Edwards, Dean, Sharpton, did back in the day

by Anonymousreply 15December 6, 2024 2:50 AM

Whitmer is a good choice because she is a former Republican (or her father was). A Newson/Whitmer ticket would be good. I have a feeling that unless Trump and crew somehow take over the election in 2028, any Democratic ticket will win. Look what happened last time. 81 million people came out to vote for Biden just to get rid of Trump. The same number of people who voted for Trump last time voted for him this time. The Dems lost almost 10-12 million voters.

by Anonymousreply 16December 6, 2024 2:57 AM
Gretchen Whitmer is probably a sociopath and could be an ideal VP for a sociopath POTUS candidate like Newsom.

Oh brother, R14.

by Anonymousreply 17December 6, 2024 3:04 AM

Whitmer's father was a Republican who worked under Republican governors (George Romney and Bill Milliken) in Michigan. Her mother was a Democrat who worked as a state assistant attorney general for Democrat Frank Kelley. She grew up around various politicians. Her father played a part in why she got into politics because he told her when she was in college that she should intern at the Michigan State Capitol. Whitmer wanted to be a sports reporter, but ended up going to law school and later ran for state rep seat.

by Anonymousreply 18December 6, 2024 3:08 AM

I love her in the House, but NO. As long as the electoral map looks anywhere even close to this fucking shit show, I refuse to give my primary vote to any more "ceiling-shattering" candidates. I agree with R2 on this one:
If we win in 2028 it’s with a white male between 45-65, Christian and very vanilla. It’s the only way we get the blue wall back.

Unless and until our party leaders and so-called "strategists" get their heads out of their fucking asses, reimplement a 50-state strategy, and give voters something ambitious to vote toward, I'm only voting for white men.

Here's a thought, party elders: How about an agenda that puts forth a 21st Century Bill of Rights? A slate of proposed Constitutional amendments around some sorely lacking areas:

1.) Election reform/Electoral College repeal 2.) Second Amendment repeal 3.) Expanded qualifications for the presidency and congress, including productivity measures for Congressional members to be eligible to run for re-election 4.) Judiciary reform including judge qualifications and term limits on federal judges + SCOTUS justices 5.) Equal rights for all genders and gender identities 6.) Right to universal healthcare 7.) Right to housing 8.) Right to public education, free of any religion-based curriculum 9.) Right to fair and unbiased news 10.) Right to employment / living wages / joining unions 11.) Reinstatement of progressively higher taxation based on income and wealth levels, for both individual taxpayers and corporations 12.) Expanded state powers where states can form a coalition if their combined population reaches a minimum of 50% + 1, to override various overreach attempts by the federal government whether by Presidential executive order, Congressional legislation, or Supreme Court case ruling/precedent (i.e., additional mechanisms to prevent the current state of minority, tyrannical rule);

This in no way is a complete list, but it's a fucking start. Yes, it's bold. No, it won't happen anytime soon. But the party needs to give voters something to vote toward, and a reason to start returning some of the middle America states back to Democratic governor and legislature rule. It would take relentless messaging and many cycles to get back to the federal and state-level majorities we'd need Constitutionally to enact something bold like this, but this is the kind of thing I want to hear from my fucking party. We are in a legislative Civil War, and the other side is WINNING. FIGHT THE FUCK BACK. In the meantime, spare me the milquetoast ideas like AOC for president. It's a NO.

As long as the Dems continue to embrace identity politics, they will lose every election.

by Anonymousreply 20December 6, 2024 4:40 AM

No. You really want Dems to get flushed down the crapper completely, forever, never to return.. AOC would be the charm to accomplish this.

by Anonymousreply 21December 6, 2024 4:47 AM

If she's arrogant enough to run, she'd never make it past the primary.

by Anonymousreply 22December 6, 2024 4:49 AM

Just an anonymous person letting R19 know I hear you. I completely agree we are in a Civil War. And I want my country back too.

by Anonymousreply 23December 6, 2024 4:51 AM

R22 I agree. She would end up being another Bernie Sanders.

by Anonymousreply 24December 6, 2024 5:11 AM

Just no.

by Anonymousreply 25December 6, 2024 5:20 AM

Good Lord no.

AOC wouldn't win a statewide office election in NY state!

by Anonymousreply 26December 6, 2024 5:23 AM

Read the responses, even in the NYT story, to the insurance CEO murder. Uniform anger and support for reform. She could capture that anger.

by Anonymousreply 27December 6, 2024 5:43 AM

Her husband's a cute ginger bear I would vote for her.

by Anonymousreply 28December 6, 2024 1:39 PM

I see the criticism, and don’t think she (or Newsome) could win, but I kind of like her. She is great at simplifying complex economic analysis into easily understood, politically palatable ideas. Whoever leads the Democrats needs to do that - upper middle class college grads aren’t enough to win elections.

R19, great ideas. The Republicans got where they are by relentlessly pounding unpopular ideas until they became normalized. Like banning abortion, like low taxes for the rich, like high defense spending, like pollution. Democrats have structural disadvantages that can either be addressed by a political realignment or a structural change,

by Anonymousreply 29December 6, 2024 1:50 PM

Nope.

by Anonymousreply 30December 6, 2024 1:52 PM

Not voting Democrat ever again. No way. No thanks. No policies, forcing death shots and just ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 31December 6, 2024 1:53 PM

Not voting period. Our votes don’t matter.

by Anonymousreply 32December 6, 2024 2:01 PM
forcing death shots

Huh, Miss R31? What's that--is it like jello shots? Meanwhile, what policies do the Repugs have, apart from mass deportations, cutting taxes for the rich, and getting rid of Obama's Affordable Care Act (there's a Democratic policy right there that people love and use)?

Do tell, R31.

by Anonymousreply 33December 6, 2024 2:46 PM
Democrats have structural disadvantages that can either be addressed by a political realignment or a structural change

And how exactly are they going to do that?

by Anonymousreply 34December 6, 2024 2:47 PM

Yes, a star who wouldn't get sufficient (if any) actual votes. Dems would be far better running Taylor Swift but she can't afford the come down in importance.

by Anonymousreply 35December 6, 2024 2:51 PM

R34, demoralizing ourselves and giving in to dark fantasies are one way not to do it. As is, doing the same,

A structural change would be to give Puerto Rico DC Senate representation. It’s not going to happen quickly, but it’s not going to happen at all if we give up. R19 gave a lot of other ideas.

My best hope for a political realignment is populist class warfare. West Virginia and Mississippi hate liberals to the point where they will ignore how poor they are. Make it less appealing for them to do that. Again, it may take time, but we can’t win under the current framework without a lot of luck,

We could just cross or fingers and wallow in despair. But Republicans have placed billionaires at the center of this Administration. Time to sharpen the blades.

by Anonymousreply 36December 6, 2024 2:54 PM
If she's arrogant enough to run, she'd never make it past the primary.

She is a very arrogant brat and she will probably announce her candidacy in January or February 2027.

by Anonymousreply 37December 6, 2024 3:00 PM

I wonder if Jasmine Crockett will steal AOC's thunder.

by Anonymousreply 38December 6, 2024 3:01 PM

Will the democrats ever learn? No more bat shit, left wing radical bitches. White men only!

by Anonymousreply 39December 6, 2024 3:04 PM

I am a total AOC supporter and admirer… and, NO. We need to win those battleground states. She can’t.

I hope she continues to grow as a powerful national voice in the House.

by Anonymousreply 40December 6, 2024 3:06 PM

Still waiting to hear a response from the brain trust at R31.

by Anonymousreply 41December 6, 2024 4:01 PM

This would be the biggest Fuck You ever to Baby Boomers and Gen X and they both deserve it.

by Anonymousreply 42December 6, 2024 4:04 PM

LMFAO. I don't mind AOC (after initially hating her) but NO. If she ran for president, it would be like Reagan vs Mondale all over again. Don't far-let "progressives" get it yet? Most Americans don't like you! That's why you all lose elections all the time. She would have more luck running for Senate.

by Anonymousreply 43December 6, 2024 4:11 PM

-This CUNT is worse than the cackling hyena. She is so full of herself like a two bit actor with no talent.

Her ONLY accomplishment is scaring off Amazon from bringing 25,000 high paying jobs to NYC.

The Democrats think this DEI stuff is still going to work.

by Anonymousreply 44December 6, 2024 4:12 PM

How so, R42?

by Anonymousreply 45December 6, 2024 4:13 PM

And people like r44 think a woman or black person or gay running for office is definition DEI. This is literally the definition of white male supremacy.

by Anonymousreply 46December 6, 2024 4:48 PM

She needs to slap the shit out of bill Maher first

by Anonymousreply 47December 6, 2024 5:11 PM
A structural change would be to give Puerto Rico DC Senate representation.

That is a corrupt and incompetent place where 50% of the residents receive some type of welfare payment. Adding it as a state will only increase the US's burden.

by Anonymousreply 48December 6, 2024 6:28 PM

R46- Wrong. She has no accomplishments except scaring off Amazon. She's not a bright person but none of this matters. Her only qualifications are the fact that she is a woman and she's Latina. Which are not characteristics that have anything to do with being a good politician.

by Anonymousreply 49December 6, 2024 6:52 PM

We all it know it will be Newsom in 2028.

by Anonymousreply 50December 6, 2024 7:01 PM

I have doubts about Newsom, he seems too "deep Blue state" and glib and unattractively ambitious.

Would be really weird if he was our next President, and Kimberly Ghoulfoyle of all people has singularly been fucked numerous times by the outgoing president's namesake son and by the incoming president.

by Anonymousreply 51December 6, 2024 7:09 PM

Absolutely not Newsom. California is--rightly or wrongly--seen as an example of failed governance. It has one of the best economies on earth, blessed with amazing weather and diversity but they can't even build housing or transit or deal with their homelessness and drug issues. It's going to take a while for California to deal with those things. If Newsom ran, they would easily destroy him by making ads all about how California is a failed state. We know how flyover people feel about California.

by Anonymousreply 52December 6, 2024 7:28 PM

This beaver-faced, Hamas-loving twat has no chance of becoming President in 2028, or ever.

by Anonymousreply 53December 6, 2024 7:33 PM

Come now, R53, get a grip.

by Anonymousreply 54December 6, 2024 7:41 PM

I have no faith in AOC anymore either. I belong to the Eeyore Party.

by Anonymousreply 55December 8, 2024 12:48 AM

Some of AOC's progressive fanboys and fangirls have probably turned on her since she campaigned for Harris. If she continues hanging out with the establishment or centrist Demcrats, more of her fans will turn on her.

by Anonymousreply 56December 9, 2024 9:04 PM

R43 Kamala lost the election by not going left - economically - enough. Democrats will continue to lose until they move significantly to the left on the economy.

by Anonymousreply 57December 9, 2024 9:20 PM

R57, no, she didn't. This is BS. A majority of swing voters said that Kamala was too left wing. So going more left would not have made her more popular.

by Anonymousreply 58December 9, 2024 9:23 PM

New Yorkers know AOC as "All Our Crazy." The bar wench who stole tips from co-workers.

by Anonymousreply 59December 9, 2024 9:24 PM

YES! Please, God! AOC in 2028!!!

R42, 57% of Gen Z males voted for Trump. Think they’ll vote for AOC?

by Anonymousreply 63December 18, 2024 5:13 AM

Another woman? Why not just inaugurate her Republican opponent now?

by Anonymousreply 64December 18, 2024 5:16 AM

She’s becoming what she campaigned against - a career politician!

by Anonymousreply 65December 18, 2024 1:18 PM

R57 Wrong.

She lost because too many thought the economy sucked (when it did not). We had bad vibes. The far left helped crested those bad vibes.

by Anonymousreply 66December 18, 2024 7:23 PM

R66, the far left thinks of itself as very popular. It needs a mirror.

by Anonymousreply 67December 18, 2024 8:12 PM

Far Lefties like AOC and WALZ are dooming our party for years to come. We have to get away from stealing medals from biological women and stop using "preferred gender pronouns" bullshit. FYI = [bold] NOBODY is "endangering ALL women" because they don't want a man in a dress using their restroom.[/bold] What a fucking drama queen.

R68, Walz is far left? I thought he was pretty sensible?

by Anonymousreply 69December 18, 2024 11:21 PM

R69 Spending taxpayer dollars to put tampons in the BOYS restrooms isn't sensible. It's weird.

by Anonymousreply 70December 18, 2024 11:34 PM

R70, I didn't know he did that.

by Anonymousreply 71December 19, 2024 12:06 AM

Actually, r70, it *is* sensible, but you're too retarded to realize it.

by Anonymousreply 72December 19, 2024 12:09 AM

When is Walz putting JOCKSTRAPS in the Girls Locker rooms? HE was calling people weird.? Now they're laughing at him. Even his Lt Governor isn't speaking to him anymore!!

AOC will probably be neutralized over the next few years. Ritchie Torres is fed up with her bullshit and has been calling her and the Squad out quite a bit over the past year. I wouldn't be surprised if he and other moderate Dems are working behind the scenes to keep her down.
