He's only 28.
Paul Mescal New Favourite to Play James Bond

Shaken (not stirred) and crying!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 5, 2024 6:35 PM |
He is too young at the moment but the next Bond might not be released for another four years.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 5, 2024 6:45 PM |
Too young and too pretty.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 5, 2024 7:08 PM |
That’s right R3. He’s very cute, but he’s not right for Bond.
Jack Lowden would a great choice. He’s handsome, masculine and at 34 mature enough for the role.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 5, 2024 7:12 PM |
I love Lowden in Slow Horses but he’s too blandl/young looking. It works for his character in SH but not Bond. The posted list is unappealing but of those named, Callum Turner is probably the best option.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 5, 2024 8:08 PM |
Paul Mescal is so average looking. Not handsome and not hot.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 5, 2024 8:10 PM |
After all the claims Paul was miscast in the Gladiator sequel, it's unlikely the Bond producers would be interested in him.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 5, 2024 8:24 PM |
Anyone but Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Hot. But no.

Bond doesn't have ginger hair.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 6, 2024 6:18 AM |
Bond wouldn't be the right move for Mescal. It's not a prestigious enough role, and it's too easy to get typecast in it.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 6, 2024 6:41 AM |
Bond isn't prestigious but Gladiator 2 is? You're insane. If Mescal was the right age for Bond he'd bite their hands off.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 6, 2024 6:44 AM |
The producers might be going for a younger Bond.
They don’t want him to burn out after two films.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 6, 2024 6:50 AM |
He's not too young. Connery was 31 when he first took the role. But he's fugly and not at all hyper masculine.
Stop buying into these bullshit proclamations about the "new favorites" to play Bond. The Broccolis will not go for someone who's already hot. Every Bond was either an unknown or an actor on his way out (Brosnan). They save a lot of money that way (consider Craig walked away with 10% of the grosses the last two movies).
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 6, 2024 7:01 AM |
Eh, I think the last few movies sort of ended it. Just make a spy movie and call it something else. I think the good Bond movies rely on elements that no longer have relevance but have great nostalgia and a sense of fun and adventure.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 6, 2024 7:04 AM |
I really hope not. Bond is supposed to be hot/handsome.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 6, 2024 7:18 AM |
He's a lot better looking than Craig was in his 40s and 50s.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 6, 2024 8:34 AM |
Mescal is neither suave nor handsome.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 6, 2024 9:19 AM |
He was miscast in Gladiator II, which didn’t exactly light up the box office. They’re not going to let him fuck up Bond.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 6, 2024 10:33 AM |
James Bond has to be visually refined and elegant as part of the deal. Paul Mescal comes across like the hottest tradie on a crew. He’s ok, but doesn’t fit the type for Bond, and it can’t be overcome by acting. Same reason Tom Hardy and Richard Madden would never work despite all clamouring for them over the years.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 6, 2024 10:42 AM |
As a recent convert (Stockholm Syndrome) of the Paul Mescal Troll, I approve of this potential casting.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 6, 2024 12:12 PM |
Paul will look Bond handsome when his face fines down in his early 30s. After ten years of grizzled Daniel Craig, he'd be a refreshing change.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 6, 2024 3:17 PM |
Daniel Craig sizzled in Casino Royale.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 6, 2024 6:12 PM |
Gladiator lowkey flopped. Johnny Bailey has all the heat on him right now, he should get it!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 8, 2024 4:28 AM |
Maybe if Jonathan Bailey could keep his mouth closed, he might have a shot at Bond.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 8, 2024 7:38 AM |
Bond's audience is Gen X, Boomers and even older. A gay Bond would alienate them.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 8, 2024 9:18 AM |
Despite his female love interests, Craig’s Bond’s repeatedly toyed with homoeroticism
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 8, 2024 12:57 PM |
I like the Jack Lowden suggestion, he's been good in everything I've seen him in
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 16, 2024 2:12 AM |
No, I'm going to need a brunette Bond again
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 16, 2024 2:15 AM |
A gay Bond might, R25, but a gay actor playing a straight Bond would likely be just fine, especially outside the US flyover states. Nobody is quibbling with Bailey's dashing Fiyero. The first thing I thought of when I saw his Dancing Through LIfe was "that guy should be James Bond". The producers would surely be hoping with their reboot to bring the Bridgerton audience into their franchise, and they have all been convinced by the hetero rake he plays in that, so never mind what the Xs and Boomers think.
Bailey has a twinkle in the eye we haven't seen since Connery and Moore, he's a much better actor than either of them, and his dance background gives him a grace of movement that would be very sexy on Bond. The question is whether he'd accept the role. He seems to be deliberately making very varied choices and might worry about typecasting. But it hasn't hurt the rest of Daniel Craig's career, and like David Tennant, Bailey has enough theatre background, at a pretty exalted level, not to have to worry about being typed.

Weren't they talking about casting a black Bond?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 16, 2024 3:21 AM |
Harris Dickinson as a more novel accurate Bond - smug, cold, violent, alcoholic and a bit unhinged. He has a cold creepy but hot posh thing going on. Aaron Taylor Johnson is too meaty and hulking. Idris Elba would honestly be better than most of the offerings I've seen. Paul Mescal I just don't buy as a tough never will.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 16, 2024 3:45 AM |
The real James Bond looked like Hoagy Carmichael.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 16, 2024 4:07 AM |
He would be an interesting Bond but I feel like it would be a downgrade for him. He is a serious dramatic actor at this point. And a bankable one. Becoming Bond might hurt that as the character is so larger than life itself it is hard to see them as anyone else while doing the Bond films.

I told you guys before-Max Irons from Condor Excellent spy series.
DL, Please find a hot photo for Max Irons.

They should just go with Tom Mison. He's just the right age, looks, and sophistication for Bond.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 16, 2024 4:56 AM |
It's a faustian bargain for these actors. Sure, they get more fame and money from the role, but they're forever known as a Bond, one of the most boring characters in cinema. And any attempt to make him interesting or develop the character will result in meltdowns from the fan base.

R38 I think audiences would be thrilled if we got the dark and serious Bond from the books. The franchise is in danger of being totally forgotten. IO is working on a 007 game that will probably be highly acclaimed, judging by how outstanding their work on the reboot of Hitman was. Dropping the ball with the films would be such a wasted opportunity to revive Bond and get it over with younger audiences. If they're too afraid to give up the stereotypical film Bond then they need to actually embrace that and let it be a big campy romp like the Brosnan films. The Daniel Craig films were so dull. The additional character development they gave his Bond was just melodramatic horseshit. Either fully embrace camp or take Bond in a more ruthless and cold direction like the original Fleming character.

The Daniel Craig films were hits.

No one cares about outdated James Bond. That’s from another century. Time to move on.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 16, 2024 9:35 PM |
Adam Driver would be surprise casting and likely a great Bond.

R43^^^ Please stop smoking whatever it is you smoking.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 16, 2024 9:41 PM |
R39 Well we got some of the dark and serious Bond with Daniel Craig. I’m not sure how faithful they were to the novels as I have never read them. Any darker it would defy realism of Bond being able to do all that shit by himself. That’s why I can’t get into the Dark Knight Batmans. It’s so dark but realism too great where it can no longer be accepted that a superhero could exist in this world.
