Heath was known for his kindness, his generosity, and his creativity. I read a story about Martin Henderson who had come to LA from Australia, and after a couple jobs, he hit a dry spell and was totally broke. He crashed at Heath's house, and Heath gave Martin his per diem to live off of. He helped him get on his feet. Another Aussie Heath was close to was Rose Byrne. When Heath died, it was Depp who paid for his family to come from Australia, and he put everyone up in one of his houses in Beverly Hills. Katie Holmes was close to Michell Williams at the time from their days at Dawsons Creek, and she got Tom Cruise to have the studio, Paramount I think, to host the memorial service. A lot of people in the Hollywood community were very fond of Heath. IMO Heath was spiraling from the insomnia, and when he went to work on the Doctor Parnassus film for the Monty Python guy everything started to fall apart, including financing for the movie. He had pneumonia and was really sick and kept working, there was a break at Christmas, and he wanted to see his kid, but Michelle wouldn't let him because they were separated, so he travelled back to Australia. His family was worried about him, then he went to NYC where he died. Colin Farrell and Jude Law completed the movie for him. My favorite Heath was his Vanity Fair cover. He was a beauty.

Ledger was a herion junkie from his days on Knight's Tale. Everyone in the business knew it. How they got him insured, who knows. Terry Gilliam was his fave director for a reason.

I thought Mary Kate had given him some pills. Sleeping pills because he suffered from insomnia and he was also taking drugs for a bad flu or pneumonia or something. He'd done a lot of traveling, working on Gilliam's movie, and even one of the other older actors commented on how run down and sick he was while working,. Michelle was in Sweden I think, working on a movie, and he wanted to travel there to see his daughter and she said no. She wouldn't let hi see Matilda. So he went home to Australia and saw his family. They were shocked at his appearance. He had lost weight and he looked very sick. Then he went back to NYC for a minute for some reason, and he died.

After his death, his father tried to publicly warn people of the dangers of the medication regime Heath was on when he died. That seemed like a noble gesture: To try to prevent other nightmare scenarios in his time of grief.

Heath was prescribed medication from doctors on three continents each unaware of what the others had prescribed him, plus he had painkillers from MK. He was really in a bad way.
