Congovirus Freakout: Part 1
A strange, new illness festering in the heart of Africa has killed 179 people and counting – and most of the victims are teenagers, authorities said.
The unidentified disease has infected at least 300 people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since November 10, causing flu-like symptoms including fever, headaches, coughing, breathing difficulties and anemia, that country’s health ministry told the BBC.
Most of the dead have been between 16 and 18, authorities said.

I don't think this poses any threat to the readers of DL, none of whom are teens, and most of whom haven't been teens for 40 plus years.......

The posted article says "women and children" - not "teens". I wonder what the vector is.

We should expect the diminished, even more imbecilic Trump to give it the same warm welcome he gave to COVID-19 - "we have it totally under control."

The baby boomers and Gen X would just love a disease that wipes out the youth and makes them the youngest again. I'm surprised they're not pushing it here yet

That would be wild if it became a pandemic, then it would be Trump Pandemic Moron 2.
He could just repeat his fuckery, and this time millions would die, and he and his cultists would not bat an eye, except the ones that have kids.

The only good thing about this current virus running rampant , is that it infects and kills quickly. Why? Because the transmission time until death means that the virus has very little time to pass on to- i.e. infect other people, making it's spread limited. Covid on the other time had a transmission to infection date of up to three weeks. That means you had millions of people walking around asymptomatic most likely spreading the disease to other humans. Of course in the behginning, with no viable medical treatment, vaccines or appropriate antivirals to take it also meant it was highly fatal.
Still, we can still hope it will jump continents and fuck with Trump's administration.
