People are super sick for 1-2 weeks. Massive congestion and fatigue with the thickest mucus I’ve ever seen. Stay safe out there.
Sinus/Head Cold going around
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 18, 2024 2:39 AM |
Everything is hitting at once and I’m nervous because I have tickets to see Audra McDonald in Gypsy Saturday
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 4, 2024 6:07 PM |
Yuck! Thanks, OP, guess I’ll start masking and avoiding people again.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 4, 2024 6:20 PM |
Is it a lot of coughing too?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 4, 2024 6:22 PM |
Reminds me of this thread from pre-Covid 2019:
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 4, 2024 6:53 PM |
Exactly what I have. Sinus infection, coughing, fatigue, body aches and I had a fever yesterday and last night. I've never had Covid and haven't been at all in at least a decade. This is miserable.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 4, 2024 7:32 PM |
Covid 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Wouldn't it be weird if this bug followed the same path as Covid, so Trump had to deal with it again?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 4, 2024 8:04 PM |
Just checked myself for Covid and came out negative. Had all the symptoms listed above for about 10 days. Beginning to feel better.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 4, 2024 8:51 PM |
The current cold strains going around are stronger than usual and the symptoms tend to linger a lot longer. If you have important plans for any upcoming events I strongly recommend you wear mask when you are in smaller enclosed environments and/or crowded indoor situations. I still wear a mask on buses and subways.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 4, 2024 9:12 PM |
Nasty! 🤢. I have noticed more people wearing facemasks
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 4, 2024 10:22 PM |
3 weeks now
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 9, 2024 4:25 PM |
I had what seemed like a minor cold...no fever or runny nose, just sinus headache, but the worst part is a hacking dry cough that still won't go away going on 2 weeks.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 9, 2024 4:37 PM |
I holed up in bed for a couple of days out of misery. Between the runny nose and not getting up for water, I became horribly dehyrdrated, resulting in horrible itching. Wash your hands a lot as well as wearing a mask.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 9, 2024 4:57 PM |
I read the thread title as “Sinead Cold going around”.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 9, 2024 5:12 PM |
I hope these aren't going to be my famous -last-words, but seriously, I haven't had a cold or flu in nearly 30 years.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 9, 2024 5:13 PM |
That might explain this constant sinus issue I’ve had since I was genuinely sick back in late September.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 9, 2024 5:32 PM |
With the crazy weather around here, my sinuses have been killing me.
Everyone in the house is snotting and sneezing. Even the cats. So gross.
I feel ok, just sinus headache and lots of snot. Ugh
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 9, 2024 5:36 PM |
3 weeks of not super productive coughing. Just beginning to taper off this week. Weird.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 9, 2024 7:00 PM |
Just getting over it. I caught it right before Thanksgiving from one of the petri dishes I teach. Started with a slight sore throat. By Thanksgiving Day, it was full blown with sinus infection and coughing. My appetite was not affected, and I felt fine other than a congested head. Every time I blew my nose a large amount of bloody mucous and snot came. That was the grossest part. It's lasted about ten to fourteen days. My head's clear, but I still have a bit of a cough.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 9, 2024 8:22 PM |
I had it. Two weeks.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 9, 2024 8:36 PM |
Well, don't even begin to think this will stop me from eating prolapsed ass!!!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 9, 2024 8:40 PM |
I think I finally kicked mine today after 3 weeks. High dose vitamin D 20kiu
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 11, 2024 2:51 AM |
This thing is horrible

Is this the SUPER COVID AIDS that the Qanon people warned us about?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 16, 2024 9:41 PM |
1 week of shit, 2 weeks of moderate shit, 2 more weeks of ok but lots of energy drops.. Congestion throughout. Thankfully, meds and rinsing have staged off infection, but this is taking forever to shake once and for all. Glad I'll be in a different climate for Christmas.

Staved off*
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 16, 2024 9:48 PM |
R25 what the fuck is it? Everyone in the country is sick
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 16, 2024 9:50 PM |
Yes R25. My symptoms showed up on a Saturday in November, and by Monday my voice was a croak. Through Thanksgiving and beyond, I felt fine but sounded awful, and had the almost rubber cement-like yellowish brown gunk and the occasional coughing spell that would sometimes be bad enough to hurt my ribs. No question I was better after about two weeks, but the morning ritual of de-gunking myself continued as my voice recovered slowly.
No fever ever during the whole thing, and only a few down patches where I just felt blah, but not awful. I did take two full days during week 3 to sleep pretty much the full day and night, I think I may have been run down too. Anyway, I noticed today that it's been a little over one month, and it's only in this past week that I've been back at 100%, not worried that I'm going to break out with a coughing fit at any moment. I'm finally at the very end of the gunk--in the morning there'll be the littlest bit. I still wake up with drymouth, which is unusual. But after the second week I was thinking I might have to go to the doctor for it (I didn't).
It wasn't COVID and it wasn't flu. No one around me that I know of caught it from me. One good thing about the post-COVID workplace: people stay away from each other, they don't linger, touching people casually as a greeting has abated, and people give others due space.
Neti Pot, Saltwater gargle, Dayquil and Alka Seltzer Cold & Cough, Vocalzone pastilles, ColdEeze, and Emergen-C/Vitamins at least helped mitigate the symptoms.

If you’re in the tri-state area, it’s almost certainly caused by the drones.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 16, 2024 11:22 PM |
I am just bouncing back from a nasty bronchitis, which was preceded by weeks of dry coughing. Fever, fatigue, the works…
Still coughy, with an only moderately productive cough.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 16, 2024 11:31 PM |
R29 oh this little cough? It’s nothing just a radiation cold.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 17, 2024 1:04 AM |
I had a cold a little over a month ago. Minor throat ache, it was not even enough to call it a sore throat. Slight sinus ache, very minor congestion, it seemed all but gone in 3-4 days. I took COVID test on day 4 and then day 7, both negative. However the very minor symptoms lingered for almost a month, even with additional daily doses of Vitamin C, D3, and zinc. It appears whoever get this cold strain has to deal with it for about a month before it is completely gone.

What has Wuhan unleashed now?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 17, 2024 2:24 AM |
I read this is walking pneumonia if you are testing negative for covid. Wtf. No one asked for this.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 17, 2024 2:34 AM |
My young manager just had a bout of that, r34. He still sounds like crap - all nasally and congested.
I asked him how he caught it and he pointed to the cube wall and someone else said that the dumb cunt manager on the other side of the cube wall came in one day before Thanksgiving hacking out her lungs and refused to go home.
I said the bitch should have been fired on the spot.
Assholes like that who show up, sick as a dog, and infect everyone else on the floor should be cunt punted off the premises permanently.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 17, 2024 4:25 AM |
That was my first thought on seeing this thread title, R4.
I remember the EXACT SAME thread on DL right before Covid.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 17, 2024 4:41 AM |
It's a long slog for sure, never had anything quite like it. High doses of vitamin C, zinc, and D3 are finally getting some results.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 17, 2024 4:30 PM |
I think I am finally at the other end of this today, nearly 6 weeks later. I'm fairly confident it was RSV, covid that didn't show up on a test, or Rhinovirus. These and flu are all going around, but there's also "walking pneumonia", which is bacterial, and my doctor ruled that out as I had no wheezing or hacking cough.
Pneumonia is no joke and can happen very quickly. Please see a doctor if you have symptoms that last more than a week or seem severe.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 17, 2024 4:34 PM |
I've had something for about a week now. Fatigue, runny nose, sneezing, congestion. I had a few days when it hurt to swallow, but not a sore throat. I hadn't been sick one day since COVID until now.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 17, 2024 4:58 PM |
Yes, r38. This time last year, a 30 something coworker of mine ended up in the hospital from untreated pneumonia.
His kidneys had started to shut down and he was in dialysis. He was in his mid thirties, FFS!
Sadly, he ended up dying right before Christmas. It was awful for his family.
If you’re sick, get to the doctor! Or a doc in the box or little clinic or whatever you have. Don’t wait until it gets too bad to reverse.

[quote]Assholes like that who show up, sick as a dog, and infect everyone else on the floor should be cunt punted off the premises permanently.
Years ago a frau coworker brought her spawn to work because she had CHICKEN POX and couldn't go to school. I walked out for the day and called the HR rep, who was appropriately appalled and took care of the problem.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 17, 2024 7:08 PM |
Yep, I had this for about 8 days, and also got pneumonia, which required Azithromycin. Two weeks later I still have a light cough with a bit of clear phlegm. But during that 8 days the phlegm was yellow and thick.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 17, 2024 7:10 PM |
A friendly reminder that your local Urgent Care is a great alternative to a Doc Appt or an ER visit. They are equipped to do chest x-rays and prescribe antibiotics for the pneumonia. Worked for me.
R42.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 17, 2024 7:12 PM |
Yes, I got sick about 2 months ago. I've still got a terrible deep cough that I can't shake. I was in bed for a few days and couldn't do anything. Whatever this was it's hard to get over.

SuperCOVIDaids
by Anonymous | reply 45 | December 17, 2024 7:47 PM |
R40 That's tragic. Once you are diagnosed with pneumonia it's time to treat it seriously. Was it COVID related or just a bad cold virus that went out of control?
It's important to take vitamin D3 on a daily basis, as it helps the immune system fight off viruses better.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | December 17, 2024 7:52 PM |
Happy Holidays everyone!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | December 17, 2024 7:55 PM |
Also, If you can find a vitamin D3 supplement that include vitamin K2 that is optimum, as K2 allows the body to better absorb the D3.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 17, 2024 7:59 PM |
No temperature, no cough or stuffiness, but I've had aches and chills starting this afternoon. Will I die? Who wants my things?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 17, 2024 8:46 PM |
46, from what he said (I and another coworker he was close to went to visit him around this time last year-about a week before he died), he had pneumonia, didn’t realize it because he smoked and thought it was a smoker’s cough.
He was also overweight and lived alone. He passed in his floor one day after work. His sister called the next day to check on him, and eh he didn’t answer a few hours later, she called the police for a well check (she lives about 3 hours away).
The police had the fire department break down the door as the landlord didn’t have a key (WTF?). They found him, rushed him to the hospital, but by that time the pneumonia had turned septic.
The weird things is, when we visited him, he was totally normal except for his color. Sitting up, talking and laughing with us. A week later, he was dead.
Just fucked up.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 17, 2024 9:32 PM |
I took antibiotics for my bronchitis. While the doctor suspected a viral bronchitis, he still said I should take the antibiotics, so that nothing else would come up while my body is healing. Now that my 10 days of antibiotics are over, I am amping up the vitamin D3 supplements...
Thoughts and prayers for your Dutchie, please.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | December 17, 2024 9:50 PM |
I know many that have it now or just got over it. It is ugly nasty snotty and gross.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | December 17, 2024 10:00 PM |
r50, my great-gradmother told a story of living during the Spanish Flu epidemic. On a streetcar, a young woman was ill. By the time it got to the train station, her face was dark blue and she was dead. Quick, dead.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | December 17, 2024 10:01 PM |
R51 Make sure you are taking a minimum of 10,000 dose until you are well. Also take zinc.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 17, 2024 10:53 PM |
Will do, R54!
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 17, 2024 11:58 PM |
Had it for about 2 weeks or more. Not completely the absolute worst thing I’ve had as far as seasonal colds go, & it tends to get a bit worse at night when I go to bed.
My throat hurt pretty badly for 10 days. Much better today, but not completely healed up yet.
Hope all of you feel much better soon!
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 18, 2024 1:42 AM |
I'm in week five with this shit. Leaves me fatigued, muddled, coughing. And low-grade fever some days. It will not go away.
It's not Covid (I tested); my doctor says it's viral, but after five weeks I'm going back in for tests.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 18, 2024 2:16 AM |
Also, find a way to get a better more restful sleep if you are not doing so when sick. Your body does most of it's healing and repair when you are sleeping. Having a regular scheduled bedtime helps. Pick a certain time and try to stick to it. Stay away from electronic devices at least an hour before bedtime and dim the lights. It's okay to watch TV if you're wearing blue light blocking glasses. You can get a pair from Amazon for under $20. Buyt only watch lighthearted fare shows, like a sitcom, nothing excitable. Reading a book or magazine is also fine.
