Not a joke. And you know a TRUMP will be the next FL Governor.
Meet Trumps Hegseth replacement Ron Desantis!!

I'm sure this will end swimmingly.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 4, 2024 5:35 AM |
Trumps Cabinet = When SECOND CHOICES is good enough for important jobs.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 4, 2024 5:40 AM |
It’s a bottomless pit of bottom feeders.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 4, 2024 5:47 AM |
Is DeSantis even interested?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 4, 2024 5:50 AM |
Trump and Desantis met yesterday. He's interested (it's a bigshot job). But the Trumpers (probably Musk) aren't thrilled with Ronnie.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 4, 2024 5:56 AM |
WOW FL will be leaderless.!

Lucky Flawduh
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 4, 2024 5:59 AM |
Thanks for posting that part, r5.
I know it's a big shot job, but was surprised DeSantis wanted to leave the stability of his governship for the craziness that is guaranteed to be the Trump administration. I know he will be out of a job in 2026, but still somewhat surprised.
I guess he's looking for the next thing on his resume. We all know where he wants to end up in the end.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 4, 2024 6:05 AM |
Deathsatan will NEVER be president. Ever.
He has all the personality of a flaccid dick.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 4, 2024 6:26 AM |
Never say never, R9. People on DL assured us that Trump could never be President, and look how that turned out. Let's not jinx ourselves again.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 4, 2024 7:34 AM |
I tend to agree, r9. The reason for his huge reelection win in 2022 was his COVID response (pretended to care for a few weeks, then opened up everything way earlier than other states) and the general shift of Florida to the right. He is a terrible campaigner.
But r10 has a point too.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 4, 2024 7:47 AM |
Casey Desantis will no doubt be adding to her Jacke Kennedy inspired wardrobe if this happens.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 4, 2024 7:56 AM |
Allying with Trump destroyed Rudy. Matt Gaetz is out of Congress and nowhere. Rubio gave up being Senator and DeSantis may quit being Governor. How many more careers can Trump destroy?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 4, 2024 9:16 AM |
Gaetz wants to be Governor. Junior probably does, too.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 4, 2024 9:40 AM |
I need something with a bit of a heel, and that white brings out my tan….

Another snake slithers out of the Florida swamp to join Dump's Cabinet of Curiosities.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 4, 2024 10:39 AM |
My money’s on that harridan Lara as Florida governor (I think she and Eric live there). God this country is a nonstop nightmare.
Don Jr. would be caught doing crack in a room with a prostitute at a Tallahassee Holiday Inn if they made him governor, like DC’s late “mayor for life” Marion Barry if they made him governor.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 4, 2024 10:51 AM |
Wow some of you people are incredibly stupid. You think the governor appoints his replacement? There is a lieutenant governor who replaces him.
I really need to see OP’s other posts to see how stupid he is. It’s quite remarkable.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 4, 2024 10:56 AM |
Also DeSantis might be offered defense secretary as a way to keep him out of the Senate. DeSantis was seen as keen for Rubio’s seat.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 4, 2024 10:58 AM |
Thinking about it some more. I think this might be a terrible pick - for Trump. Here's why.
Despite all the crazy conservative things he's done in Florida, DeSantis has major ties to more traditional Republican networks if you get my drift. He went to Yale for Undergrad and to Harvard Law School for his JD. He worked with detainees at Gitmo. He made connections.
He'll do a lot of things Trump asks, but if Trump asked him to do something truly extreme in the sense of Trumper/coup/blah, he's going to side against Trump and with the so called "deep state".
I'm not saying he won't do evil things and there would certainly be better choices. He just won't support a permanent Trump dictatorship or using the military camps for everyone or anything like that because that's not what his buddies want. His loyalty to trump is not as strong as other people Trump might have picked.
But Trump doesn't see that. He thinks DeSantis bowed to him during the primary and is now supporting him truly and fully. But he's wrong. DeSantis did that because he could see a Trump win was inevitable and needed to preserve his support from traditional Trump voters for future elections. That's not the same as true loyalty. This could be interesting.

Hey dude. Some of us aren’t aware of the intricacies of the Florida government. Calling people incredibly stupid isn’t necessary because they don’t know the rules of succession. Just point out the correction without throwing out insults. Anyhow there’s an election in 2026 so the job will be up for grabs then anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 4, 2024 11:05 AM |
Trump wants his daughter-in-Law, Lara Trump, appointed by DeSantis to fill Marco Rubio’s seat when Marco becomes Secretary of State. In exchange, Trump names DeSantis for Secretary of State.

^Secretary of Defense - correction

[quote] Some of us aren’t aware of the intricacies of the Florida government.
…the lieutenant governor is a feature that is found in 45 states.
In the remaining states, the Secretary of State or the Senate President becomes governor upon vacation by the current governor.
No state allows the governor to appoint his or her successor.
You must be profoundly stupid if you did not realize this.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 4, 2024 11:21 AM |
So Hegseth stays on Fox except that now the whole country now knows his name - but also that he’s a disgusting drunken pig. Is that a win for him?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 4, 2024 11:25 AM |
Implicit in all of this, is a growing understanding that Hegseth’s nomination is not going to happen. So that’s good, I guess?
Trump has a history of hating, excoriating, and refusing to work with his FBI Director. I can’t believe DeSantis would be stupid enough to do it.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 4, 2024 11:26 AM |
R28 DeSantis would accept Trump's offer so fast, he'd leave behind a cloud of dust in Florida.
DeSantis is a power chasing opportunist just like Trump. And, like Trump, he's not bright enough to consider the long term implications of taking the job.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 4, 2024 11:30 AM |
R22, it’s that way for every state.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 4, 2024 11:46 AM |
^ almost every state

Maybe it’s time for simple competency hearings if you desire a position in public office. Nothing too controversial. Are you sane? Do you have expertise in the field in which you are applying?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 4, 2024 12:13 PM |
Obviously people aren't as brilliant as you R26. You're just the resident 200 IQ of DL, huh?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 4, 2024 12:27 PM |
R33 only a profoundly idiotic person with no concept of civics would have thought the governor appoints his replacement. It’s a fundamental balance of power and all children are taught this in elementary school.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 4, 2024 12:56 PM |
R33, you’re only digging a bigger hole for yourself.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 4, 2024 1:18 PM |
That drunken pig on TV act worked out well for Tucker Carlson and Bill O'Reilly, r27...

[quote]WOW FL will be leaderless.!
WILL BE ? You act as thought they have leadership today.
In any event, I'm doing what Whoopi suggested we do. As this all flushes out (as it did a few weeks ago with Gaetz, but Hegseth's unraveling is more entertaining), I'm sitting back and 'eating my popcorn' watching the GOP fall all over each other with no directions on hand. I'm switching channels to CNN, MSNBC, and FOX ! It's fun to see CNN and MSNBC give full coverage to Hegseth's troubles this morning, and FOX hosts are focused on Biden's pardon for his son, since they have their priorities set (no mention at all about Hegseth).
Time for another bucket of popcorn.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 4, 2024 2:02 PM |
R21, Ron DeSantis isn't going to save us. Christ almighty
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 4, 2024 2:03 PM |
BREAKING NEWS:
FOX is giving light coverage to the Hegseth problem, and that DeSantis will probably replace him. Not exactly going deep into Heggy's past, nor mentioning they're all BFFs with their former cohost.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 4, 2024 2:10 PM |
Once Turd gets tired of playing Celebrity Apprentice he'll grow bored and turn the presidency over to underlings. He's going to miss those rallies.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 4, 2024 3:49 PM |
[quote]Jeanette Nuñez, the 20th lieutenant governor of Florida, would become Florida’s next governor. The lieutenant governor of Florida is a statewide constitutional office and the second-highest-ranking official in the state. The Florida Constitution allows the lieutenant governor to serve as the acting governor if the governor leaves the state or has a disability. If the governor dies, resigns or is impeached and removed from office, the lieutenant governor is next in line to take over.
Now you know what the law says. If any of these assholes actually plan to obey the law, that's what it is.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 4, 2024 4:56 PM |
Quite Pro Quo. If Trump wants Lara to take over Marco’s Senate seat, then Ron wants an appointment in exchange.

Don’t forget that of all the people who actually do make it to Trump’s Cabinet… he will fire 75% of them within a year.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 4, 2024 8:42 PM |
R44 A year? You're optimistic. I'd say 40 days.

Former Florida Governor Rick Scott(who pled the Fifth a zillion times in investigation of his health care company) was so wealthy, he had his own jet. DeSantis has had to beg rides from rich cronies but Defense will give him his own Air Force.
