Where I think…
Another movie.
Another TV show.
Another stage musical.
Another Thanksgiving.
Another Xmas.
Another day at work.
Another restaurant
Another hookup.
And life just goes by

Find the another "insert word" that you love and brings you joy and concentrate on that OP. Life shouldn't just go by...

Is that all there is? Is that all there is? If that’s all there is, OP, then let’s keep dancing. Let’s break out the booze and have a ball - if that’s all there is.

Sadly that’s all there is
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 4, 2024 3:43 AM |
Sounds like existential ennui
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 4, 2024 3:43 AM |
Yep. Right there with ya, OP.

And then your body starts hurting and you think…
Another pain and ache
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 4, 2024 4:46 AM |
We ache in places we used to play...

Another opening, another show
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 4, 2024 5:10 AM |
I know, OP. Same here.

Unlike when we were hunter/gatherers, we now get meals at scheduled time. We don’t spend our days looking for food and shelter. We have to fill all our free time now being entertained.
Sadly, after a while, everything gets old and unstimulating. We’re called curmudgeons as if it’s our fault

I find at this stage of life that the only thing that really makes me feel alive, well, there's two things: travel, and giving. Travel to stimulate, enrich, enliven and reignite my curiosity and creativity. And giving -- my time, my money, my gifts. I love cooking for my family. I love when I have good advice and it "lands" for the other person and sends them in a new direction or opens up new vistas in their mind. I love when I can be useful and helpful, not out of grim obligation, or to prove anything to anyone or to society, but because something is in my wheelhouse and it just flows naturally forth from my being. I love donating to charities, and choosing new charities to donate to. I love just being a decent chap walking through the park, smiling at people, exuding an energy of safety and acceptance to people I meet and people in my life.
If you can't give, then travel. Even semi-locally or regionally, you will always find new trails, new antique stores, new roadside attractions, new watering holes, new music venues, new scenic views.
If you can't travel, then give. Participate in things bigger than yourself and your daily ablutions. Get out of yourself, and think about others. Write, and consolidate some of your hard-earned life wisdom to pass on to others.
If you don't have a pet, get one. If you don't have a plant, get some. Start a garden. As we age things that used to get us up and out of bed, like ambition, sex, parties, shopping, socializing, just don't cut it. Another event. Another hookup. Just like you said. But pets, giving, and travel, they never fail. It's food for the soul.

Gays with the "I've done it all" attitude are exhausting

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
