The new issue of New York Magazine features a huge cover spread of past and present SNL stars and I did a double (spit) take on the third image... With 5 La Chapelle images to pick apart this could be tailor-made for DL but Fred's current state was, I thought, the most DL worthy...

Did Fred end up leaving Tunisia? Last I heard he was settling there for a few months.

Very weird how Dana Carvey has his hand on Molly Shannon’s stomach. Very ….weird.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 4, 2024 2:33 AM |
SNL has made me laugh so many times over the years. At least once or twice.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 4, 2024 2:34 AM |
FF for requiring too much effort to find the right photo.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 4, 2024 2:39 AM |
Jesus Mary and Joseph! Hahahahaha the first pic I’m seeing is Fred with no hair and he DOES look like Sessums! I always thought he had a hairpiece. Joe piscapo looks drawn on and terrifying. So shellacked. What happened to Mike Meyers? He looks like Baz Luhrman. What happened there? Tracy Morgan with his hip-hop dookie chain. Tim Meadows looks like a cool guy from Chicago. The cherry of the photo is Chevy Chase posing with Chris Kattan! Who invited Kattan? But posing the two crunchy bitter bitches together was perfect. Everyone else in the photo was boring.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 4, 2024 2:51 AM |
Kattan looks like he's wearing Chris Farley's pants, and they fit.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 4, 2024 2:59 AM |
Chris Parnell is a silver fox.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 4, 2024 3:06 AM |
Ugh gross Leslie Jones was included. She was the worst cast member. Constantly shouting and flubbing her lines.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 4, 2024 3:11 AM |
I didn't recongize Julia Sweeney she sort of looks like a heavier version of Annie Lennox.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 4, 2024 3:15 AM |
Garrett Morris looks high as fuck in the pic with his on Amy Poehler's leg.
Whoever styled attention whore Bowen Yang needs to be slapped.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 4, 2024 3:23 AM |
R10, I’m usually a Bowen Yang apologist but I couldn’t agree with you regarding his styling — damn, it’s so bad.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 4, 2024 3:30 AM |
Couldn’t agree with you MORE**
Will we ever get an edit feature, Muriel?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 4, 2024 3:33 AM |
Interesting, that one season cast member Casey Wilson was featured. I guess I'm still not forgiven for dropping and F bomb during my one season.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 4, 2024 3:40 AM |
Is there an updated Kevin thread?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 4, 2024 3:53 AM |
I’m surprised to see Cheri Oteri. I thought she was excommunicated from the SNL orbit. Lorraine Newman looks great.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 4, 2024 4:04 AM |
I hate this photo-opped shit, where each single photographed castmember alum was probably no closer than 1,500 miles away from one another; and then they were all pasted together pretending to look happy being plopped next to each other. 😝
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 4, 2024 4:29 AM |
Without the charm.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 4, 2024 4:33 AM |
I hope not. R14.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 4, 2024 4:37 AM |
Fred Armisen has always given me the willies. I don’t know what it is about him that creeps me out. But I cannot watch him in anything without having a sick feeling.

"I’m surprised to see Cheri Oteri. I thought she was excommunicated from the SNL orbit."
Why, R15?

I was at a party that Fred was at several years ago. I spoke to him a bit, he's sort of low-energy and meek in real life. Pleasant enough. Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, who was in my friend group at the time was also there, post-divorce. He ended up dating her for awhile. Then I heard that he broke up with her, saying "The novelty has worn off." I cannot confirm this is true, but I don't know why our mutual friend would life about this. And I recalled his tragic and short-lived marriage to Elisabeth Moss who said she was traumatized by the whole thing. And I thought, wow, he's really fucked up.
But we kept in touch via text for a year or two. He invited me and my then-husband to a Portlandia series launch party at the Natural History Museum in Manhattan. We drove down on the wrong night. He offered us two seats at a subsequent SNL taping, but we both got sick with a flu and couldn't go. Very frustrating, and not conducive to growing the friendship.
But, we both used to go to Iceland to write, and we had a few nice text exchanges about that. Once, I was drunk, I read about his sex addiction and I stupidly texted him and was like "Dude! Just read this crazy article about you. I see you are with Natasha Lyonne now, I am glad you are doing better." And he texted me back!! He goes "I just didn't have the tools before. I've acquired the tools now" or something like that.
A comedian friend of mine in LA has a several year long parody text thread going with Fred, it's all based on some imaginary drama, and they have kept it going for years and years. I think that is sort of adorable.
I stopped all my friendships with celebs after my divorce though, because I just felt that it was all sort of shallow and superfluous, and I want to just enjoy comedy or shows or movies or concerts without the clutter of semi-knowing this or that person, or having been snubbed by so and so, or used for my connections by such and such. I am weirdly happier now having that monkey off my back. I still miss it sometimes but I have the memories, and I value my anonymity and peaceful simple life now.
Anyhoo, that's my Fred story. I think he is a flawed human being, not a monster, and seems to have tried to be on a growth arc. I find him very funny. He's talented and he "made it" in spite of his odd looks. And he's a drummer. I wish him well.

I'm not R15. Cheri Oteri is bipolar and there were stories that she often caused drama at SNL and didn't get along with Tracy Morgan.
I was surprised that Chevy Chase was included. I recall that Lorne banned from hosting SNL because of Chevy's history of feuding and being verbally abusive towards other SNL alums.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 4, 2024 5:14 AM |
Wasn’t Cheri excluded from the 40th anniversary special?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 4, 2024 6:38 AM |
Sessums sounds like a Hillbillyism
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 4, 2024 6:39 AM |
Why is Sasheer there? She was never anything more than an extra in a sketch. Also too many awful people from the current cast.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 4, 2024 8:07 AM |
Where the fuck is Melanie Hutsell??
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 4, 2024 10:29 AM |
^ Sure, Jan.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 4, 2024 1:00 PM |
I see Robert Redford gifted his old wigs to Dana Carvey.
I agree with the above FF - where the fuck is Fred's pic?
I suppose the link leads to different photos depending who clicks where? Is Fred in the black suit, on the floor, lower right, 3rd pic? If not, where? That hardly looks like Fred but doesnt look like Bav either.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 4, 2024 1:04 PM |
Worst headline ever.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 4, 2024 1:22 PM |
I worked with Elisabeth Moss in the beginning of this year, and she had mentioned that Fred had fallen in love with her character from Handmaid's and thought she was like that.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 4, 2024 2:05 PM |
She isn’t?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 4, 2024 2:06 PM |
Remember when SNL was reliable for spurts of comedic brilliance? Not just lame high school skits?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 4, 2024 3:56 PM |
r21, he dated Rachel Dratch for over a year during their mutual SNL run and she was very traumatized by his addictions.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 4, 2024 5:10 PM |
I fucking love Rachel Dratch.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 4, 2024 5:47 PM |
R34, me too!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 5, 2024 1:28 AM |
So all Fred could think about was floozies?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 5, 2024 1:39 AM |
Fred was married to Moss way before Handmaid’s Tale. He was in love with Peggy, her Mad Men character.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 5, 2024 1:42 AM |
Ah you're right r37, mea culpa.
