Well, it wouldn’t be any worse or weirder than who was just elected.
What would a Bonnie Franklin presidency look like?
We need some levity on this Sunday evening.

She'd be TEN times better than Trump. She was a horrid actress, but she's good at bossing people around and clomping here and there.

President Ann Romano's Press Conference Speech:
Ann steps up to the podium, looking as unflappable as ever.
Ann Romano: "Alright, folks, let's get down to business. I've been handling crises for years—two daughters, one ex-husband, and a perpetually broken washing machine. Running the country? Easy."
She adjusts the mic with a smirk.
Reporter 1: "President Romano, how would you handle President Putin?"
Ann Romano: "Putin? Well, first off, I’ll pick up the phone and say, ‘Vladimir, you’re not in charge here.’ If that doesn’t work, I’ll send him a season of Applause. Trust me, by episode 2, he’ll be begging for peace."
The room chuckles.
Reporter 2: "And the economy, President Romano?"
Ann Romano: "Look, the economy’s like my kitchen after a party—messy but fixable. We’ll create real jobs, support small businesses, and cut inflation like I cut unnecessary expenses at home. No fluff, just results."
Reporter 3: "How would you respond to a terrorist attack?"
Ann Romano: "First off, no one messes with this country—not on my watch. We’ve got the best people, and they’ll handle it. And if anyone tries to pull this stunt on me, they’ll quickly learn: you don’t mess with a mom who's been through everything. We’ll handle it with strength, precision, and maybe a little tough love."
The room quiets, then erupts in applause.
Reporter 4: "What about former President Trump’s misogyny and his stance on abortion rights?"
Ann Romano: "Let me be clear: you don’t talk down to women. You don’t belittle us, and you sure as heck don’t tell us what we can and can’t do with our bodies. Abortion rights? That’s between a woman and her doctor. Period. Anyone trying to take those rights away? They’re not just messing with me, they’re messing with every woman who’s fought for her freedom."
She leans in, voice firm.
Ann Romano: "So, to anyone who thinks they can turn back the clock on women’s rights—keep dreaming. We’re moving forward, and you better get used to it."
She steps back from the podium, leaving the press room stunned and cheering.
Reporter 5: "President Romano, what about your stance on gay rights?"
Ann Romano: "Gay rights? It’s simple: love is love. I don’t care who you’re in love with, as long as it’s healthy and consensual. We’ve got enough problems in the world without policing other people’s relationships. And don’t even try to tell me otherwise."
She leans in, her tone unyielding.
Ann Romano: "We’re talking about basic human rights here. Everyone deserves to live their life freely and without fear. If you want to be part of this country, you respect that—no exceptions."
She pauses, her eyes scanning the room.
Ann Romano: "So if you’ve got a problem with that, take it up with someone who cares. This country’s moving forward, and equality’s not optional. It’s a promise."
The room is silent for a moment, then breaks into applause, with Ann standing tall and resolute.

Wow - that was GREAT! Now I wish I’d campaigned for Ann.

When the room broke into "applause," I would have hoped she would break into a soft shoe and scream "What is it that we're living for? Applause! Applause!"

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
