Odenkirk is a great example. There were a few flashback sequences in BCS where he needed play someone roughly 40 and it didn't seem totally unbelievable. Compare that to Aaron Paul when he guest starred on BCS and looked very rough and not even close to Pinkman's age even though he was cloaked in shadows.
