Ex-Trump Official Warns: ‘Do Not Underestimate AOC’ in 2028

A former Trump administration official thinks Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) could make a formidable candidate for president, warning Republicans not to underestimate her.

Monica Crowley, former assistant secretary of public affairs at the Treasury Department, discussed the progressive lawmaker’s capabilities Friday night on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle.

Guest host Lisa Boothe first noted how Ocasio-Cortez asked constituents who voted for her but not for Vice President Kamala Harris why they did so. Some mentioned the economy, a need for “change,” and the war in Gaza, as well as the feeling that Ocasio-Cortez and Donald Trump don’t represent “the establishment.”

“She did this Instagram thing where she reached out to her voters and split-ticket voters for Trump, asking them why they split the ticket, and a lot of them said they like her accessibility. She’s doing these Instagram Lives, and we saw that with Donald Trump as well—being willing to sit down with Joe Rogan, going on X, doing these three-hour interviews,“ Boothe said.

“Is it fair to rule her out, or is there something there for her?” she asked Crowley.

Ocasio-Cortez has “tremendous grassroots support,” Crowley responded, adding that the congresswoman “was an early adopter of social media” and that she has continued to “connect directly with voters.”

Crowley framed the 2024 election as the country doing away with “wokeness” and said she doubted that in four years’ time the populace would reverse course.

“However,” she continued, “just a word of warning to the Republicans, to my party: Do not underestimate AOC. She’s young, she’s vibrant, she’s attractive. I think she’s wrong on everything, but she does have real grassroots support, and all of the energy and activism in the Democratic Party remains with the revolutionary left, of which she is a part.”

“So,” Crowley concluded, “every time the Republicans have underestimated the Democrats, we ended up with Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden. So, let’s not do it again in four years.”

Democrats would make a big mistake trying to push her for president. With this recent election, it's pretty clear Americans still aren't ready for a female president, let alone a female president who isn't 100% white.

What Democrats need is a Democratic man from a red state - someone like Andy Beshear.

by Anonymousreply 1December 1, 2024 5:06 PM

AOC would do no better than Harris unless things seriously melt down under the Republicans over the next four years.

by Anonymousreply 2December 1, 2024 5:12 PM

Totally agree with R1.

It's Andy Beshear, or nothing.

The country isn't in a DEI or WOKE mood right now.

Democrats need to realize this, or we will keep losing.

by Anonymousreply 3December 1, 2024 5:15 PM

This woman is only pushing AOC because she knows she will lose.

by Anonymousreply 4December 1, 2024 5:15 PM

Yeah, why would we fall for what reich wing cunt Monica Crowley is pushing? AOC will never be President.

by Anonymousreply 5December 1, 2024 5:23 PM

R4, similar to the way that Republicans were pushing Bernie in 2020.

by Anonymousreply 6December 1, 2024 5:28 PM

r4 my thoughts exactly

by Anonymousreply 7December 1, 2024 5:30 PM

AOC should stay where she is or run for Senate.

by Anonymousreply 8December 1, 2024 5:32 PM

Beshear may be able to win as a governor, but apart from being a straight white male, he shows no ability to deliver nationally. Oatmeal doesn’t win primaries and caucuses.

by Anonymousreply 9December 1, 2024 5:34 PM

"Some mentioned the economy, a need for “change,” and the war in Gaza, as well as the feeling that Ocasio-Cortez and Donald Trump don’t represent “the establishment.”

So how exactly do you deal with some deranged idiot who thinks Donald Trump doesn't represent the establishment? The man is the complete embodiment of "the establishment" and has been since the day he was born. JFC the disconnect is unbelievable.

How do you correct willful ignorance?

by Anonymousreply 10December 1, 2024 5:38 PM

AOC will never get elected to higher office outside of her home district.

PERIOD>

by Anonymousreply 11December 2, 2024 12:30 AM

She might stand a chance if the Republicans nominate Marjorie Taylor Greene or Sarah Palin.

by Anonymousreply 12December 2, 2024 12:43 AM

I do agree that she’s way more savvy with social media than most mainstream Democrats.

Her far-left policies, however, are 👎

by Anonymousreply 13December 2, 2024 12:46 AM

If the Democrats shift from identity politics to class warfare, she would be a great leader. The billionaire class is in charge next January. If they fail to deliver for most Americans, while lining their own pockets, invest in guillotines and knitting needles. Republicans may long for the days of crying about bathrooms and affirmative action.

[quote]The country isn't in a DEI or WOKE mood right now.

That's fine. So we just have to wait until White men decide that non-Whites and women are equal citizens in this country and can seek out positions of power like they can. How long should they alone remain entitled to the presidency? 50, 60, 75 more years? GTFOH. The country will never be in a 'DEI' or 'Woke' mood ever. If it did, those terms wouldn't exist or be needed in the first place. I would hope that on a site catering to a gay audience, that people would understand that those terms target us as much as they do with other minority racial/ethnic groups.

The U.S. isn't going back to the demographics of the mid 20th century, so unless White people start fucking and having litters of children immediately, trends are tilting heavily in favor of a multi-racial, ethnically diverse country. And electing regressive assholes like Donald Trump thinking he can stop the inevitable is going to backfire when he gets in office and fucks the entire country over. Voters can punish the party that hasn't become a cult and whose platform doesn't express a desire to overturn the rights of groups who they don't view as "real" Americans too, but it will not stop demographic change either.

Just something to consider when discussing the future of our country moving forward.

by Anonymousreply 15December 2, 2024 2:29 AM

AOC?! Good LORD what nonsense!

by Anonymousreply 16December 2, 2024 5:22 AM

[quote] What Democrats need is a Democratic man from a red state - someone like Andy Beshear.

We'll need to nominate a white man in 2028, but it needs to be someone with charisma, someone who can inspire crowds and generate buzz on social media. Beshear seems to be charisma-challenged.

by Anonymousreply 17December 2, 2024 5:30 AM

[quote] The U.S. isn't going back to the demographics of the mid 20th century, so unless White people start fucking and having litters of children immediately, trends are tilting heavily in favor of a multi-racial, ethnically diverse country.

And yet a majority of those Latino cunts (males, not females) still voted for Trump.

And nearly half of Asians in the US also voted for Trump.

They are no friends to Democrats, that much is for sure.

Just because they're not white doesn't mean they will vote for a Democrat.

Because they're fucking idiots who fail to realize that Republicans hate them.

by Anonymousreply 18December 2, 2024 5:51 AM

People voting for both AOC and Trump is proof that some are not voting on policy. Which is really fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 19December 2, 2024 5:55 AM

lol you have to wonder who these people are and what they’ve been smoking.

Ditch the woke brigade and run a white man who is vanilla as hell.

by Anonymousreply 20December 2, 2024 1:26 PM

I'm not sure if AOC is the answer, but it may not hurt Democrats to think outside the box.

by Anonymousreply 21December 2, 2024 1:34 PM

Many people don’t seem to care much or understand policy, but want to vote for candidates who they feel “care about my problems”. Some of AOC’s constituents must believe that about her.

by Anonymousreply 22December 2, 2024 1:45 PM

AOC seems like a dummy to me. She’s like a two bit actor/actress that’s full of themselves but has no talent. Her only accomplishment was scaring off Amazon from opening one of its headquarters in NYC.

by Anonymousreply 23December 2, 2024 1:52 PM

Do not underestimate AOC. If the nominee is Gavin Newsom, she will be his running mate. If the economy collapses during the next term and voters demand a pendulum swing to the far left, she is the standard bearer.

by Anonymousreply 24December 2, 2024 1:59 PM

AOC could be the Dems best bet for 2028. So far I see yawns and so what’s in the names being mentioned. You might hate her but she will not be a yawn or a so what.

by Anonymousreply 25December 2, 2024 2:07 PM

Sorry, there should be no women candidates for president in the foreseeable future. America is still not ready for a woman as their president, regardless of how experienced and competent they may be. America prefers a celebrity who will pander to their grievances and delusional views.

by Anonymousreply 26December 2, 2024 2:10 PM

Andy Beshear supports child mutilation, r1 and r3.

by Anonymousreply 27December 2, 2024 2:17 PM

The Question of the Day 2027

AOC do you support federal prisoners receiving gender changing surgery at tax payer expense?

AOC is as ready or more ready than Harris depending on how she answers that one.

by Anonymousreply 28December 2, 2024 2:17 PM

[quote]AOC seems like a dummy to me. She’s like a two bit actor/actress that’s full of themselves but has no talent.

That’s what a lot of people loved about Trump.

by Anonymousreply 29December 2, 2024 2:51 PM

Vote Tulsi Gabbard, Democrat in 2028!

by Anonymousreply 30December 2, 2024 3:53 PM

Andy Beshear would be labeled with an epithet that makes "Tampon Tim" sound like a compliment. You dumb fucks think any old red state white man is what we need are living in the 90s.

by Anonymousreply 31December 2, 2024 4:02 PM

AOC will lose us another election. Guaranteed.

by Anonymousreply 32December 2, 2024 5:52 PM

She seems more show pony than workhorse.

by Anonymousreply 33December 2, 2024 6:11 PM

Maybe if the Dems had paid attention to their concerns, they would have voted for them.

[quote]Asian Americans did back Kamala Harris, who received 54% of their vote, according to Edison Research exit polls conducted with a consortium of news organizations. Yet the 39% who supported Donald Trump — despite Harris’ South Asian background and efforts to solicit voters of color — reflect the decline of the Democratic Party’s grip on Asian American voters. In 2020, Joe Biden received 61% of the Asian American vote compared with Trump’s 34%. Four years prior, Hillary Clinton received 65% compared with Trump’s 27%.

[quote]Finally, Democrats have lost their credibility as advocates for the working class — a critique that has been coming from the left since Bernie Sanders popularized democratic socialism. Pundits and strategists alike have acknowledged that the Democratic Party is now perceived as the party of highly educated elites, A-list celebrities and wealthy cosmopolitans culturally out of step with everyday Americans.

R2 One thing I’ll say, AOC is much better spontaneous speaker than Harris. She is not as pretty although Harris is old enough to be her mama. But AOC has the gift of gab, and then she is a New Yorker too so she knows how to talk that shit but still sound intelligent.

by Anonymousreply 35December 2, 2024 7:21 PM

I understand your point, R18. However, minorities aren't the originators of conspiracies like the "Great Replacement Theory" that play on White grievance, fears of a changing country and any potential loss of political, economic and cultural dominance. No single non-White minority group will be in a position to challenge that dominance in our lifetimes, even with the demographic changes taking place, yet right-wingers treat it as an imminent threat that will destroy the U.S.

For years, Republicans have exploited and stoked fears of these changes and Donald Trump just ramped it up. Terms like "DEI" and "woke" used on the right are nothing more than dog whistles for "We don't want these 'other' people (immigrants, minorities, gays, etc.) disrupting the status quo, forcing me to tolerate change and they never, ever should have the authority to influence any part of my life." And to be clear, I'm not saying a substantial or majority of White Americans hold these beliefs or that minorities don't. No groups are monolithic in thought, but they're enough who do harbor these views for it to be a notable political issue that surfaces during election cycles.

I've said many times that any minority voting for Trump is a dumbass considering all he's said and done. Other than a potentially underlying degree of self-hatred, it makes no sense to me and never will. They'll find out quickly that his views haven't changed once he disgraces the White House again and fucks over the people who voted for him. The Republicans have an opportunity to diversify their party, which they are going to have to do to stay relevant, but will likely piss it away once Trump starts implementing his 'agenda.' We've constantly been hearing that Democrats need to 'change' since the election and by change, they mean shifting to the right and being less inclusive. The last thing this country needs is a two-party system consisting of a far-right cult and a lite-right party who tries to mimick, but never can outdo the far-right cult.

by Anonymousreply 37December 2, 2024 8:55 PM

I can’t stand her, but I’m starting to think she might actually be able to win. She has a cult of personality around her.

by Anonymousreply 38December 2, 2024 9:02 PM

[quote]Ditch the woke brigade and run a white man who is vanilla as hell.

What in the hell is the woke brigade, anyway?

by Anonymousreply 39December 2, 2024 9:03 PM

You know who the " woke brigade" is. They are the "Pronoun Nazis," the " Choose your own gender," " Toxic masculinity," " Cancel culture," constantly triggered " victimhood dependent " strategists" who are being interviewed ad nauseum on MSNBC and progressive radio.

by Anonymousreply 40December 2, 2024 9:15 PM

One side is woke the other side says woke,

by Anonymousreply 41December 2, 2024 9:17 PM

I've said this before, and Bill Clinton agrees with me: The first female President will be a Republican. It will drive Democrats crazy, but I don't think the country will be there for another Democratic woman any time soon. I think Whitmer is going to get overshadowed by others. Unfortunately, so is Pete, who would be a fantastic candidate.

by Anonymousreply 42December 2, 2024 9:37 PM

I also think that Newsom will bully his way into the nomination, with Pelosi as his ride-or-die, getting other Democrats to fall in line.

by Anonymousreply 43December 2, 2024 9:58 PM

Exactly, R37!

[quote] AOC's 'Red Light District' plagued by crime as Democrat who helped her rise to power says she 'disappeared'

A Democratic official who helped Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez build support before her historic first election win said that the lawmaker has abandoned and "betrayed" her constituents in a Queens neighborhood that has been riddled with crime under her leadership, including open-air prostitution, robberies and petty crime.

Some constituents have likened conditions along Roosevelt Avenue to those of a Third World country, while others say the migrant women soliciting sex in front of businesses remind them of a red-light district in Bangkok.

The area has garnered national attention for its unsanitary nature where illegal vendors overtake sidewalks selling unregulated food, secondhand clothing and other counterfeit merchandise.

Ramon Ramirez Baez, an author and former Democratic committee member for the 39th Assembly District, said the quality of life there has rapidly deteriorated since Ocasio-Cortez sprang an historic upset in 2018, unseating Rep. Joe Crowley to become the nation’s youngest congresswoman.

He said the then-unknown political novice had been a fresh face on the scene who promised to work hard for the people of Corona, Jackson Heights and Elmhurst and to be an on-the-ground presence for them, unlike career politician Crowley, who at that point was a 10-term incumbent and eyeing to be the next House speaker.

Ocasio-Cortez, Ramirez Baez said, reached out to him for help when she had about $39,000 in the bank, compared to Crowley’s nearly $2 million war chest.

Ramirez Baez, who is well-connected in the area, particularly among his fellow Dominican immigrants, introduced Ocasio-Cortez to many business owners, campaigned with her and even forked out the cash to pay for their debate venue, he said. The move proved crucial in swaying the electorate, as Crowley never turned up, and Ramirez Baez said it swung the momentum to Ocasio-Cortez.

"I paid for that debate, I have an invoice for everything I did for Ms. Alexandria," Ramirez Baez said, waving a document to the camera. He said he has all his expenses from her campaign documented in one of the many books he has written about her.

But since Ocasio-Cortez rose to power, Ramirez Baez said she has been missing in action and has acted no differently from Crowley.

"We never saw that lady, never, she disappeared. She [didn’t] do anything for the community, nothing, nothing."

"She disappeared from my community. You never saw Alexandria in my community, nobody saw her in her office. All the time, closed," he said of her Queens office, which was located a block from his own apartment.

Ramirez Baez said locals don't know how to get in touch with her office as she doesn't appear to have any in Queens. Ocasio-Cortez's website lists an office in Queens, by appointment only, which is the same address as the office of New York City Councilwoman Tiffany Caban.

"What happened? You have to be [in the] community to do an event," he said. "She never did any event. I never saw Alexandria come to do a town hall meeting, to listen to the community, nothing. She disappeared."

"She goes all over the place, like a movie star, she goes to Texas, all over the place, but what about the community?"

Ramirez Baez said Ocasio-Cortez did hold a town hall in the neighborhood in May 2023, but he said the rally was extremely limited and residents had to apply to attend, with her office denying entry to those it deemed as hostile to her positions.

Ocasio-Cortez spoke at a rally in support of illegal vendors a few months later and quickly left before questions could be asked, he said.

"If she said to me, she is socialist, I would never support it," Ramirez Baez declared. He said that part of her socialist agenda is an open-border policy with regard to immigration, which he opined has contributed to the decline of the neighborhood as many illegal vendors and sex workers on Roosevelt Avenue are migrants who have no jobs or work permits and also clog up resources.

Saying AOC is a threat to be watched is painting the Dems as far leftists. MTG and AOC are both reprehensible to the majority of Americans, so by planting the idea that AOC is going to lead the Dems, allows the MAGAts to begin their propaganda that the Dems are far leftists who will destroy America. Of course, MSNBC and progressive radio will further that propaganda by interviewing her constantly and making it seem that she is a most influential decision maker in the party. The blatant stupidity of the ultra-liberals is mind-blowing.
