It's not new that debutante balls are a bunch of rich young ladies. Almost all Americans introduced at such balls in the Gilded Age DID NOT HAVE TITLES. It's always been about showing off money and perhaps eventually "marrying well". Now these girls are just having luxury fun, navel gazing, social media attention seeking, cosplay, blah blah blah. It seems harmless. I don't blame kids college and and younger for being born into super wealthy families.
