How many times does this need to happen before people get the message: deep frying turkey is risky and/or can be deadly.

DUH.

Its cause people be drunk or tipsy when they cooking it, I think. Cook thanksgiving dinner, then drink.

by Anonymousreply 1December 1, 2024 12:05 AM

Everyone knows you're not supposed to do that in a garage.

Well, that's what insurance is for!

But that sucks big time

by Anonymousreply 4December 1, 2024 12:22 AM

I imagine the homeowner's insurance premium will increase after this little mishap.

by Anonymousreply 5December 1, 2024 12:26 AM

People still do this?

But then I remember my ex-sister-in-law's attempts at brining turkey. The headline:

SUBURBAN OTTAWA WOMAN ATTEMPTS TO RECREATE THE DESTRUCTION OF CARTHAGE

by Anonymousreply 6December 1, 2024 12:32 AM

Dumbass

by Anonymousreply 7December 1, 2024 1:11 AM

All that trouble, and they didn't even get to have that deep-fried turkey.

by Anonymousreply 8December 1, 2024 1:14 AM

This happens every year

by Anonymousreply 9December 1, 2024 1:19 AM

At least it wasn't a gender reveal this time.

by Anonymousreply 10December 1, 2024 2:19 AM

Deep fried turkeys are delicious. They should always be cooked completely outside.

by Anonymousreply 11December 1, 2024 2:26 AM

This is such a grim time of the year: Thanksgiving, Christmas, then New Year’s. You might as well burn your house down on Thanksgiving and get it over with.

by Anonymousreply 12December 1, 2024 2:55 AM

You also need proper equipment, not something homemade from the tool shed.

by Anonymousreply 13December 1, 2024 3:10 AM

We had a local Boston headline about a cooking fire this week.

I admit I was disappointed it wasn't this when I clicked it.

It's awful but the level of stupidity that this takes is like an old Simpsons episode.

Apt comparison. Cool!

by Anonymousreply 15December 1, 2024 3:30 AM

I'm a boomer and when I was a kid there was always news about Christmas tree fires. I think people forgot to water them.

by Anonymousreply 16December 1, 2024 3:34 AM

r16 they also used to have CANDLES instead of xmas lights...that was the cause of many a tree fire.

by Anonymousreply 17December 1, 2024 3:36 AM

Say what you want, nobody is burning their house down making macaroni and cheese!

by Anonymousreply 18December 1, 2024 3:37 AM

You have to use industrial type pots almost like for camping when you fry a whole turkey.

by Anonymousreply 19December 1, 2024 3:38 AM

The key is not to overfill the pot with oil, keeping in mind how much oil the turkey will displace. And not doing it inside. I guess they thought an open garage door counted as "outside." At least these folks have money.

by Anonymousreply 20December 1, 2024 3:59 AM

I’m betting they post a gofundme, though. I cooked a turkey breast in the crockpot. I was just not into thanksgiving this year.

by Anonymousreply 21December 1, 2024 4:08 AM

USA! USA!

by Anonymousreply 22December 1, 2024 4:12 AM

Was this RFK Jr trying to cook “healthy” while barefoot again?

by Anonymousreply 23December 1, 2024 4:19 AM

What a stupid thing to do. Maybe they were half drunk.

by Anonymousreply 24December 1, 2024 4:51 AM

Good. I hope more people burn down their houses.

by Anonymousreply 25December 1, 2024 4:53 AM

I hope for more IDIOT MILLIONAIRES to burn down their houses.

by Anonymousreply 26December 1, 2024 4:56 AM

How much do you want to bet that the turkey was from Costco?

by Anonymousreply 27December 1, 2024 5:13 AM

Along with the wine, stuffing, mashed potatoes and graxy.
